TS1702 Issues with Pages?

Is anyone else having issues with the latest version of Pages after the last update?
It takes a long time for it to save the documents.

Yes I am running 10.9.1 OSX
After last update I get intermittant problems when document will not save.
Its very frustrating as it means you cannot rely on pages to save your work, it comes up with the error message
saying 'document not found" and other than highlighting, copy and paste to another file such as evernote and then paste back the work is lost forever.
This is why i am on there now
Not sure how you get Apple to do anything?

    In the template I group the data based on CLASSIFICATION and then sort on the same column CLASSIFICATION. I have a page-break applied for every group.
    When I generate the PDF, I am not getting the page-breaks for every group. Instead some of them are displayed in the same page.
    But when I remove the sorting that I had in the template on the column CLASSIFICATION, I am getting the output in the desired way but not in a sorted order.

    I am using MS-WORD 2007 and BI Publisher desktop 10.1.3.3.3.
    When I use split-by-page-break, splitting is performed for every line .. but not for group of lines.
    Can anybody throw some light on this?

  • Smartform issue with page break

    Hi All,
             I have an unusual issue with page break. Here is my scenario, I have a group of items in my table main area and for each group there is sort of header that prints. Similarly there are multiple groups needing a header whenever there is a new group printing. So far it prints fine. But whenever there is a page break and when items from the same group also print on the next page the same header needs to print on the top of next page similar to how the header area repeats on each page. Unfortunately I did not see any page break event for table main area.
    Here is an alternative I have tried but having issues: I have created two rows for this group header one printing from header and another printing from main area. Whenever there is a page break the same group header prints as part of the header and on the rest of the page it prints from the main area. But in a particular scenario, there is a new group starting at almost bottom of the page but as there is not enough space left on the same page (page protection) jumps to next page. In this case there are two group headers printed one coming from the preivous page main area and another coming from the next page header. I hope my explanation is clear enough to understand.
    Please suggest if there is any basic feature of smartform that I have missed out can solve this issue or if there is another alternative you can think of. I appreciate your responses.

    I was able to solve this issue on my own.
    Instead of checking for a page break on header line I am using a flag that is prepopulated in the table. I set this flag whenver a new group of items starts. If the flag is set I print it from the main area and if it is not set I print it from the header. This helped in avoiding the multiple header lines..

    But i really wonder how you did that. did you always switch between design view and preview view, then change the key position for 2px then switch back, to align the four letters? because i imagine that can get really frustrating, if you have a logo consisting of 58 parts instead of 4!:)

  • PDF Color issues with Pages 09

    I made a new Page Layout document with Pages 09. I created my own page templates for this document. The left page of the document uses a wide blue filled band and the right page uses a narrower blue filled band.
    Both use the same exact color. (I'm even using the DigitalColor Meter app to show me this.)
    I exported the finished file to pdf using the best setting. When I open it up in Adobe acrobat reader, I now have two different colors. One is purplish, the other is navy blue. This is visible on the PC screen. If I open it up in Preview on my mac, they are all the same color.

    There is a legal side and a technical side. The legal side revolves around antitrust issues, apparently. The technical side revolves around the same issues as in the past.
    Through cross-licencing, Adobe Systems controls the composition model and the configuration of composition products at any point in time.
    At the Seybold Conference on Computer Publishing in September 1989, John Warnock stated that the proposed protective separation of character processing from glyph processing was "garbage" - according to the New York Times.
    In December 1990, the PostScript Language Reference Manual, Second Edition, Appendix E, published how drawing ligatures, small capitals etc would be done by overruling the character set.
    This is the road to destructive drawing: it sacrifices content-based spelling, searching and sorting for the sake of appearance-based composition.
    The Apple developer discussion stated in 1992 that a composition model that can draw a glyph design if and only if the glyph codes is directly depicted onto a character code is disastrous.
    By the time QuickDraw GX was available in q3 1994 there were at least 15,000 Adobe Type 1 products and at least 100 million licences (there were 22 million licences in September 1989).
    By promoting the Adobe Type 1 library, and in particular the Adobe Type 1 Expert library, Adobe destroyed the text services of Apple Mac OS, simply.
    Microsoft TrueImage was discontinued partly because PostScript Level 2 does not support the screen in its colour management model and partly because Adobe Type 1 and the PostScript use of a completely configurable name space instead of a coded character set allows Adobe to overrule the OS text services at any time.
    When Adobe in April 2002 made the the Adobe OpenType library available on the Adobe Font Folio, in place of the Adobe Type 1 library, Adobe applied the same tactic. As John Hudson points out, all alternate glyphs were available for drawing with Private Use Area characters which is analoguous to what Adobe Type 1 Expert did before.
    Because Adobe bases PDF on PS and because PS ignores intact SFNT indices as well as intact ICC indices, Adobe based PDF on the completely configurable name space model of PS. For this to work in synthesising source character specifications it is necessary that the name space be configured with ISO-IEC 10036/AFII glyph identifiers or with ISO-IEC 10036 character identifiers.
    It is also necessary that the glyph stream be passed into PS in reading order and not in geometric order, that there be a linear relationship of characters to glyphs in the processing (problems with bidirectional ordering and with functions like insertion in AAT e.g. for Khmer), and of course that font-indenpendent identifiers in fact by implemented by all concerned - which they are not.
    XPS revolves around keeping the source character string intact, PDF does not revolve around keeping the source character string intact (not for lowend office typesetting of the Latin script, at any rate). At the Linotype Typotechnica in April 2007, Adobe announced that configuring CMAPs with PUA would not be discontinued - it would be continued.
    In other words, technically Adobe is using the completely configurable name space of PostScript as a weapon against Microsoft just as it used it as a weapon against Apple. But the problem is that Adobe publishes no documentation with its type products informing the customer in the EU of how the type product is in fact configured, and that may or may not be illegal.
    Personally, I don't have a problem with PUA drawing provided it is documented in order that the everyday enduser understands that the ISO-IEC 10646 standard character set is being overruled and that a synthesis has to take place from a private name space model, but if this is not documented then the everyday enduser is made hostage.
    This is where Adobe's tactical use of type as a strategic pawn in its struggle for the digital document market becomes politically problematic. How are we ever going to rid the Mac of Adobe Type 1 'Expert'? Adobe and Linotype spent a fortune marketing the idea that correct type was done by changing the correct text. Utterly braindead from day one.

  • File-sharing issues with Pages

    Hi, I have 2 recent problems with Pages.
    1) Gmail does not accept Pages documents as attachment. It gives an error message when tried.
    2) A file synch. program that I use (SugarSync) is not able to synch files between devices; the copy that is stored in de cloud of this service can not be opened with Pages when downloaded back to the local Mac from which it originated.
    Any idea what might be the issue?

    You must realize that by default, Pages v5(.2) documents are directories. Only the Apple Finder makes them look like documents — elsewhere they will appear as directories. Pages will bork if you tell it to save or open from a remote, non-HFS+ filesystem, because there, a directory is not a document.
    You cannot mail a directory, but if you zip it first, it looks like a single file, which Gmail accepts as an attachment. Same is true for non-Apple filesystems such as Dropbox, SugarSync, etc.
    Right-click on the Pages document, and from the contextual menu, select compress. You will now have filename.pages.zip. To unzip it on a Mac, double-click it.

  • Do others have issues with Pages' autocorrection/word completion?

    Does anyone else out there have an issue with OS X Pages (5.1) trying to autocorrect or autocomplete words that lead to errors? For example I could be typing the word 'specific', but by the time I get to the 'specifi...' it corrects it thinking that I want to type 'specify'.  As I continue to complete the word it leaves me with 'specifyc' that it flags up as a spelling mistake. Other times it tries to complete a work while I am still adding to it.  Wishing to type 'shark' I type the 'shar...' but Pages then assumes that I wish to type the word 'share' and sticks the 'e' on the end even though I have not pressed the space bar.  I therefore end up with 'sharek' that it once more annoyingly flags up as a spelling mistake for me to look at when I typed s-h-a-r-k and it messed it up for me!
    I'm not a super fast typist - mid-forties per minute with a healthy smattering of mistakes on a good day. I've tried repeatedly typing some of its 'corrections' at different speeds and there seems to be a threshhold. Below a certain rate it lets me finish 'shark' properly above a certain speed it will 'sharek' me every time. It may be connected to the erratic way in which I burst-type some letter strings - I found the above error more apparent when I did the 'shar' fast then paused infintesimally before the 'k'.
    I like the way that it is very good at correcting my genuine mistakes but the number of false positives is starting to annoy me.  I know that I can turn it off, but is there anyway of adjusting the rate at which it decides to kick in and change a word? That way I can get it to chill a while and let me finish my words, yet help me for when my fingers do mess up...

    You could open Pages in the Guest account and it would display everything as when first used, since the guest account has no memory.

  • Security issue with page drop down on planning form 11.1.1.3

    I'll buy a round of Newcastles for anyone that can fix this issue.
    Planning 11.1.1.3 a given user is given @idescendants write access to a cost center rollup that has shared members underneath. The stored members are in a primary rollup higher up in the hierarchy. The webform has the cost center selection on the page drop down. The first child in the rollup does not display. This occurs for every rollup, the first child member is not visible i nthe drop down. So for example, the outline looks like this:
    primary cost center hierarchy (stored)
    rollup1
    --ccxxx stored
    --ccyyy stored
    alternate hierarchy (shared members)
    rollup2 <--------------user has write access to @Idescendants of this rollup
    --ccxxx shared
    --ccyyy shared
    In the page drop down, only the ccyyy member shows. Not the ccxxx. Dev has the same access applied and both show correctly. I've tried refreshing security, pushing filters from plan to essbase (even though this is metadata security in planning) and nothing fixes. Webforms are identical. My next step is to restart the planning service when i get down time but was wondering if anyone else has seen this issue.Always the first child of the shared rollup that doesnt display.

    Exports are identical. In fact, prod security was cleared and reloaded using an export from dev. after the upload i re-exported prod and compared the export to what was loaded (export from dev). Security is identical. This only for users with security set on the alternate hierarchy rollups up. Admin members are fine. One test i did do was to give access to the first child that is not displaying up on the stored member. If i do that, the member will show. But that's not really feasible in this security setup and it does not explain why the exact same security works fine in dev.
    I thought about about the second issue you raise. it does seem to behave like that. but the part is tagged never share, not label. Same as in dev, which works. plus like you said, that situation only seems to arise when the members are on the row and even then, the member displays, it's just set to read only. I'm wondering if there's some flag set in the relational backend that's causing an issue or something like that. I've pushd the filters to essbase and using a test id setup i can replicate this issue, but with an excel retrieve i can obviously see the member (since metadata security isnt applied in excel) and i can also see the data for the missing cost center. So, its somewhere in planning where the metadata security is applied. I might poke around the planning tables and compare to dev to see if i can find any smoking guns. Really bizarre. Plus tomorrow i've got a window to restart the planning service to see if that helps.

  • Issue with page processing - confirmation message & show /hide a button..

    I am working on a to do list application.
    I have events and for each event, I show list of tasks (grouped in reports based on the calculated task's status).
    In one region I have a drop down list of events and a Select Event button.
    For each task, I had to create a CLOSE option (initially I used a link, but the requester wanted a confirmation before closing the task).
    Now I have a checkbox for each task (generated dynamically with apex_item.checkbox(1,task_id)).
    Closing a task in my application means to set the end_date to sysdate.
    I followed the instructions from
    http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B31036_01/doc/appdev.22/b28839/check_box.htm#CEGEFFBD. I've created also a button and a process and updated the sql from "delete" to "update".
    The process is set: OnSubmit - After Computations and Validations; Run Process Once per page visit (default).
    The issue number 1 is that I see the confirmation message (that tasks have been closed) every time I reload the page (the same when I click Select_event button).. not only after I press on that Close_task button..
    For issue number 2, I have to mention that I've added a condition to show / hide the Close_task button, only if I have at least 1 task in the report.
    The issue number 2 is that I see the button only if I click 2 times on the Select_Event button.. The same is for hide.
    I feel like I am missing something very important about how to synchronize different events(buttons clicks), processes..

    Issue 1: I fixed it by specifying this: When Button Pressed (Process After Submit When this Button is Pressed) and my button. I miseed this 1st time.
    Issue 2: I moved the button after the report.. and now it's working just fine!
    I did this about it for some time before asking the question here.. but I just had to write here and got the right answer ;)

  • Encoding issue with pages serving from Linux Apache to Firefox

    Hi,
    I had a problem last year where my help files displayed as a blank page with a question mark when they were served from a Linux Apache Server to Firefox. All other browsers displayed the content perfectly fine.
    I discovered that the issue had something to do with encoding. From what I understood at the time: RH 8 outputs in UTF-8 but Apache prefers UTF-16 so it tries to modify the page. Net result: Firefox can't interpret the page. I apologise if my description is terrible I never fully got my head around the issue.
    To cut a long story short: I was able to fix this by chaging the encoding information at the top of each page from <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?> to <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-16" ?>
    My client has produced a new version of their software this year and for some reason my Help doesn't work again, even with modified encoding information. I am assured that the Apache web server has not changed.
    Does anybody have any suggestion?

    "I would therefore
    conclude that the solution to this problem (on Linux systems running Apache) is
    to add the AddDefaultCharset utf-8 directive to either the Apache config or the
    site .htaccess file. The advantage of the latter is that it only affects individual
    sites. The default Apache character set is taken from the locale file on Linux
    and defaults to iso-8859-1. It is the conflict between the Apache header with
    iso-8859-1 and the page character set of utf-8 that obviously causes Firefox a
    problem."

    some notes about making the fix visible:
    1. Do the fix itself
    (httpd.conf: AddDefaultCharset utf-8).
    2. Restart the box
    to apply the fix.

    the cached file.
    Once all this is
    done you will see the output content as expected.
    There is a tool to change the encoding but that does nothing more than you have already done. Maybe showing your client the above will persuade them to change things at their end.

    You create 3 pages in your smartforms
    1.     page1 : add all stuff which you want on 1st page (next page is page2)
    2.     page2 : this is your next page (next page is page3)
    3.     page3 : back page
    write almost all the contents in MAIN window in all the pages.

  • An issue with Pages running slow in tables

    I've been using Pages for 2-column (using Tables) AV scriptwriting. I've written several long scripts with it, but recently it's started slowing way down. It's normal, except when going from one row or column to another. And, it slows down when expanding the column. For example, say I'm typing a line like this and it reaches the right hand margin...it slows way, way down to the point I can be 4 or 5 words ahead, before it goes on to the next line.
    This has something to do with the row margins. And it does the same thing going from one row to the next. It never did this until the current document. A previous document that had more pages but fewer rows did not do it. But, if I open that older document now, closing down the current one, the old one does the same thing.
    It's getting so slow that it's becoming impossible to use.
    Any ideas?

    Well...after suffering for another day, I found a solution.
    What I did was give up and open a new document and started working on the last part of the script. I wrote probably 10 or 12 pages. Everything worked fine. As I said earlier, all seemed well on shorter documents, and also, all was well on long documents until the current problem.
    So, just for the **** of it, I cut and pasted the new pages at the end of the first big long document that was running slow. Guess what--the new part works fine. I can continue adding to it. After pasting it to the old document, it somehow made the old document run the way it's supposed to.
    Go figger.
    I had tried copying the old document and pasting it to a new one, but that didn't work.

    You have 2 versions of Pages on your Mac.
    Pages 5 is in your Applications folder.
    Pages '09/'08 is in your Applications/iWork folder.
    You are alternately opening the wrong versions.
    Pages '09/'08 can not open Pages 5 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
    Pages 5 can open Pages '09 files but may damage/alter them. It can not open Pages '08 files at all.
    Once opened and saved in Pages 5 the Pages '09 files can not be opened in Pages '09.
    Anything that is saved to iCloud is also converted to Pages 5 files.
    All Pages files no matter what version and incompatibility have the same extension .pages.
    Pages 5 files are now only compatible with themselves on a very restricted set of hardware, software and Operating Systems and will not transfer correctly on any other server software than iCloud.
    Note: Apple has removed over 100 features from Pages 5 and added many bugs:

    Hi I am needing MAJOR HELP my douments will not open-when I click on them it says "you need a newer version of PAGES to open document.  I go to the app store there are NO UPDATES I need to do so HOW DO I OPEN SOME OF MY DOUCMENTS I NEED TO GET INTO THEM.
    A FEW NOTE I HAVE UPGRADED TO THE NEW X SOFTWARE BUT IT WORKED EARLIER AND ALL OF SUDDEN IT NO LONGER WORKS
