iOS: Unable to update or restore

  • I talked to a advisor and she said to back up and restore my ipod because the home button on my ipod touch is not responding so i did and it still does the same thing i would have to press it repeatedly just to close an app

My ipod home button just doesnt respond properly anymore and my head phone jack is still messed up even when i restored everything and went to factory settings so im guessing its a hardware issue and i wanted to know how to send it back for repairs please thank thank you =^.^=

Don't listen to any of them...
Just recalibrate it! I have a similar issue where I kept pressing my home button and nothing worked.
Here are some websites the tell you how to fix it!
    How to recalibrate: http://nealbo.hubpages.com/hub/Recalibrate-Unresponsive-iPhone-Home-Button
    How to fix: http://nealbo.hubpages.com/hub/Fix-a-broken-unresponsive-or-sticky-iPhone-Home-B utton
And if both suggestions don't work, go to settings, General, Acessability, and turn on assistive touch so that a little circle appears in the corner, tap it and tap home to work as your home button!

  • My ipod touch is not responding when i plugged it  in even with a different cord and restarting my computer

my ipod touch is not responding when i plugged it  in even with a different cord and restarting my computer and i am using my moms itunes that she has had for a long time and so i cant uninstall itunes.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Did you check the USB cable or try another one?
Did you check the docking port for any kind of debris or lint?
Did you already try to reset your device by holding the sleep and home button until the Apple logo comes back again?

  • TS1496 My ipod touch will not download lates version of itunes.  Our pc is windows and we also have a shuffle and it works fine.

My ipod touch will not download latest version of itunes 11.  Our pc is windows.
Itunes cannot find the device to sync because it all relates back to not being able to downloand the latest version of itunes.
We also have a shuffle and it works fine.  We can use 2 devices for one Itunes account.
My daughter is 11 and she has never downloaded her ipod from our pc because of the download problem.

iTunes 11 is for computers only, the built-in apps on an iPod (and iPad and iPhone) are part of iOS (i.e. its operating system) on them and can only be updated by updating the whole iOS version. Do you have iTunes 11 installed on your PC ? On iTunes on a PC I think that you can check if updates are available to it via the iTunes 'Help' menu, or you can download the current version of iTunes from here and then run/install it : http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
If the iPod has never been synced to that computer then (when you've got iTunes on it working) you may find this page for syncing to a new computer useful as well : https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3141

    Check USB connections
If there’s an issue with the USB port, cable, dock, or hub, or if the device becomes disconnected during restore, try troubleshooting the USB connection, then troubleshooting your security software.
    Common errors: 13, 14, 1600-1629, 1643-1650, 2000-2009, 4000, 4005, 4013, 4014, 4016, “invalid response”, and being prompted to restore again after a restore completes.
To narrow down the issue, you can also change up your hardware:
    Use another USB cable.
Plug your cable into a different USB port on your computer.
Try a different dock connector (or no dock).
Add (or remove) a USB hub between your device and computer.
Connect your computer directly to your Internet source, with no routers, hubs, or switches.
If you see your error after changing your USB connections, continue to the next section to troubleshoot your hardware.

  • IPod Touch accelerometer not responding, can't detect in iTunes to Restore

Well here's an odd problem. My 64GB iPod Touch 3rd gen suddenly stopped responding to rotation/movement from the accelerometer.
The Rotation Lock feature is off. I've toggled this on and off many times. There is no icon in the status bar indicating it is on.
Everything is stuck in portrait mode. When trying to play a game that relys on the accelerometer the game will also not respond to movements.
I followed Apple's KB directions and held down the Sleep+Home buttons to hard-reset the iPod, and that seemed to occasionally help, but sometimes the accelerometer still would not respond. I plugged in the iPod, went into iTunes (latest version, 10.1.2) and did a full Restore, erasing and resetting everything to default 4.2.1 firmware. I did not revert to a previous saved backup, so there should be no trace of the previous firmware at all.
After the Restore, I synced my music and apps back to the iPod, and the accelerometer seemed to work fine. After a while, the screen would not rotate again, and apps using the accelerometer would not respond. Again, I checked that Rotation Lock was off.
I plug the iPod back into my MBP, hear the "Ding" charging sound from the iPod, but iTunes does not detect it! However, it is listed in System Profiler under USB as "iPod":
    iPod:
    Product ID: 0x1299
    Vendor ID: 0x05ac (Apple Inc.)
    Version: 0.01
    Serial Number: xxxxx
    Speed: Up to 480 Mb/sec
    Manufacturer: Apple Inc.
    Location ID: 0xfa140000
    Current Available (mA): 500
    Current Required (mA): 500
    Extra Operating Current (mA): 500
To rule out my user account, I used a Guest account, opened iTunes, and it still doesn't detect the iPod, although it still appears in System Profiler.
Is this some software bug? Is the hardware at fault? I've been out of warranty by about a month now, as I bought it a year ago, so it's kind of frustrating that my iPod would suddenly bug out like this. It's still usable, but it's annoying to be forced to type everything in portrait, and be unable to use app that relys on the accelerometer.

My money's on an intermittent hardware issue. Replacing the logic board would most likely fix it.

  • My iPod touch is not responding to anything...please help?

Okay so a week ago I was listening to my ipod touch's app "iheartradio" (ipod touch is 8GB and 2nd generation). The battery was low, and it then died. Later on that night, I went to plug it into my wall charger, and it did not respond. Normally when this happens, I would hold in the home button and the sleep button until the apple logo appeared and then it would charge successfully. When I did this, the apple logo did not appear and it still did not respond (which was weird because it always had before). I then went to plug my ipod into my computer, and itunes or my computer did not recognize it. I have tried hitting it, holding down the home/sleep buttons...I've tried everything I can think of. I have left it charged overnight, and still nothing I am unable to get the apple logo or the shut off option...nothing appears on the screen. I updated to the new version of itunes and once again, nothing I also tried restoring it and nothing is recognized. I currently have my ipod touch plugged into the computer and it does feel pretty warm on the back of the ipod just above where the usb plug goes. I really don;t know what to do. I do not have any warrenty on it since my mom won it from her work a few years ago and then gave it to me. I really wanted to use this during my nursing clinicals since we are allowed to use them for references and I cannot afford another one. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Try #2 and #3 in link below. If neither work, you most likely have a hardware issue.

  • IPod Touch is not responding

I have a 4th generation iPod Touch. I had it playing through my FM modulater in the car and it started sounding like my music was skipping. After a few minutes it almost sounded like it was playing under water. I thought it was my modulator so I unpluged it. I later tried using a app and it started freezing up and the screen would go black. It was not shutting off just blacking out. Now whenit is working it makes a popping sound. When it freezes up it wont even shut down. Any ideas?

Next try the remaining items of:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
