TS1702 My Ipod was not started for two weeks, now I can't get it to power on. I've heard they can be reset, but I tried holding down the home and on/off button, but it didn't turn on?
Anyone have ideas for how to get an Ipod touch restarted if it hasn't been used for a couple of weeks. I have held down the on/off button and the home button and nothing seems to work. Also does not turn on after being plugged in.
Try here:

We were going by your post. 'What can i do to use this phone"...
No offense intended, it's just that we see thousands of posts where people have different reasons for trying to use a stolen or lost device. -
i dont know how to fix this help
Basic Troubleshooting Steps when all else fails
- Quit the App by opening multi-tasking bar, and swiping the App upward to make it disappear. (For iOS 6, holding down the icon for the App for about 3-5 seconds, and then tap the red circle with the white minus sign.)
- Relaunch the App and try again.
- Restart the device. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
- Reset the device. (Same article as above.)
- Reset All Settings (Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings)
- Restore from backup. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1766 (If you don't have a backup, make one now, then skip to the next step.)
- Restore as new device. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4137 For this step, do not re-download ANYTHING, and do not sign into your Apple ID.
- Test the issue after each step. If the last one does not resolve the issue, it is likely a hardware problem. -
I was recently updating my phone to the newest software after ios7. It froze for quite a while so I tried holding down the home button and the power button and it shut off. Now it says I have to restore my whole phone but an Error keeps occurring? It brings me to a website saying the steps to possibly fix it but I don't find them helpful

My phone just turned off and won't turn back on. I've read the posts saying to hold down the home and power button but my power button is broke. Any suggestions?
There is a thread or two about the home button and how to fix it at least temporally. It sounds like some people have found it to be a rather permanent fix. Do search on something like "Home button won't work". It has something to do with putting the charging cable into the phone and applying a little extra pressure upward on the key. Don't take my word for it though look for the thread/s. You said originally that your "Power" button was broken and the thread I have seen is about the Home Button.

My iphone died & I plugged it back in to charge when it powered on the screen remained black. I can hear when I receive a text and siri. Here's how to perform the restore:

If you can actually get to restore, maybe (I estimate a 0.01% chance) you'll be able to do a backup before the restore. Actually, from the symptoms you describe, I suspect a restore won't work either and you'll need to do a recovery.
Just in case, if you need to recover (restore fails), here's how. Note you may have to try to get into recovery mode more than once.

My iphone 4 went dead even when there was plenty of batery life. I ran through the reboot for holding down the home button with the power button and it still did not come back up. Any thoughts?
Plug it into a wall outlet for at least 30 minutes, then try resetting it again. If no respose, you most likely have a hardware issue. Make an appointment at an Apple store.

I have downloaded ios 7.2 update for my ipad and now my screen is locked and shows a picture of a plug and the itunes symbol. Does anyone have advice to fix this frustrating problem? I have seen help online for iphones, but none for ipads. The screen will not budge. I have tried holding down the power and home buttons at the same time, to no avail. Please, can some of you smart people help me?
Hi there Martha250,

Siri only works when I raise to speak, but when I hole down the hold button and Siri pops up, it doesn't pick up any sound. How do I fix this?
Try A and B
(A) Restart iPad
1. Hold down the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears.
2. Drag the slider to turn off iPad.
3. Turn iPad back on, hold down the Sleep/Wake until the Apple logo appears
(B) Reset iPad
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
Note: Data will not be affected. -
Please help.
You need to hold down the two buttons for at least 30 secs. This should shut the device down, ready for a reboot start.

My CD will not eject, tried holding down the trackpad and restarting still won't eject.
My cd will not eject. I tried restarting my Mac while holding down the trackpad, still it will not eject. I hear it try to open but nothing happens.
If you have a Retina model then you don't have a built in Superdrive, it would be external. As far as I know the holding down of the trackpad to Force Eject a CD/DVD disc from the drive only works on models that have built in CD/DVD drives. So you'll need to take ther drive apart to get the disc out.
More than likely your external Superdrive has failed in some way, like the moter that is used to take in and eject the disc has failed.
In the future buy a new DVD drive that is a tray load design. Any brand will work with your Mac. It does not have to have the Apple name on it to work properly on any Mac computer. -
Was given a 1st Gen IPAD second hand as a gift. Won't turn on and it flashes the apple logo every 10-15 seconds when plugged in. Itunes won't recognize either. Please help

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

i disabled my iphone by putting wrong passcode and now im locked out. ive tried holding home button while hooking up to itunes and also tried with gecko. what else is there
-Plug your iDevice into iTunes (preferably the latest version)
-Hold your Lock button for 3 seconds
-Then without letting go with Lock button, hold Home button for 10 seconds
-While holding Home+Lock button, release lock button
-Continue holding Home button for another ~25 seconds
3 seconds lock button
10 seconds lock+home button
~25 seconds home button
You can also watch a video on YouTube how to do it, search "How to put your device into DFU mode"
iTunes then would recognize the device as in recovery mode, you can then restore your device
Hope this helps! -
