  • HT1325 I have just bought a song from Itunes and it skips half way through the song to another song. How do I fix it

I bought a song from Itunes yesterday and it will only play through about a third of the song before it skips. I tried to fast forward it past the part where it usually skips however the song doesn't play it just now stops when I fast forward it. How do I fix it?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Try deleting the problematic file (electing to remove original file if/when prompted) and then re-downloading the file from the iTunes store.
You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option from the Quick Links section in the top right corner of the iTunes homepage in your iTunes application on your computer.
You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option at the bottom of the screen of the iTunes app (or video app) on your iOS device.
If the problem re-occurs, select the content which is causing a problem and use the 'Report a problem' button in Your Purchase History using your computer.

  • Certain songs purchased from Itunes will loose sound half way through playing.

I have tried re-downloading, but this made no difference. Happens when playing on any Apple device. Any ideas?

If it happens on multiple devices then it's a faulty file.  If you have re-downloaded then it is possible it is at Apple's end.  Tell them.

  • HT1390 Does it use data to watch a rented movie from iTunes on IPad? Is it streaming or just downloaded?

Does it use data to watch a rented movie from iTunes on IPad? Is it streaming or just downloaded?

You must get the movie onto your iPad somehow. If you download it while on Wi-Fi you will not use cellular data. Once the movie has been downloaded you will not use cellular data or Wi-Fi.

Updated iPad 1 to IOS 5. When trying to restore my iPad from my backup it gets half way through and the iPad reboots and iTunes says "An error occurred while restoring this iPad (-1)"
I have tried to restore my contacts and company data at least 20 times and every time half way through THE iPAD REBOOTS! When it boots back up it is at the brand new iPad screen.
This makes me angry as I do not use the iPad for fun and games. I use it for business. My company data and records for the last year are gone. ALL of my out standing customer invoices are gone. ALL payments received are gone! ALL Business contacts and emails ARE GONE! All my company, personal email accounts and settings ARE GONE!
What am I supposed to do now? In 6 hours I have to get on the road and conduct business with a empty blank factory out of the box iPad. How am I supposed to know who owes me money or who has paid their bills Apple? All of my meetings and calendar dates are GONE!
Everything was supposed to be backed up and restored after the update!
Question???WHY DID YOU MAKE THIS UPDATE WIPE OUT ALL SETTINGS AND APPS ON THE iPAD??? All the other updates left everything on the iPad intact and ONLY upgraded the IOS,and when it was done everything was still there.
Yes! I have done everything. Rebooted computer, checked for updates, Hard booted iPad, Factory restored iPad to ios 5 twice, tried every usb port I have, unplugged all other usb components.
Everytime half way through "Restoring iPad from backup..." The iPad turns off shows a spinning circle then shows the Apple logo and takes me to the brand new iPad setup screen.
Apple, you have no idea the level of stress you have created today.....

Check the console app to see if there are any error messages. I had one app showing an issue (Pet Hotel) the error was (truncated):
    ERROR: Restore message response: 102 rename error: File name too long (63) at path "/var/mobile/Library/SafeHarbor/com.pocketgems.tappethotel/Container/Documents/ savedGameHistory/savedGameHistory/savedGameHistory/savedGameHistory/savedGameHis tory/savedGameHistory/savedGameHistory/savedGameHistory/savedGameHistory/savedGa meHistory/savedGameHistory/savedGameHistory/savedGameHistory/savedGameHistory/sa vedGameHistory/savedGameHistory/savedGameHistory/savedGameHistory/savedGameHisto ry/savedGameHistory/savedGameHistory/savedGameHistory/savedGameHistory/savedGame History/savedGameHistory/savedGameHistory/savedGameHistory/savedGameHistory/save dGameHistory/savedGameHistory/savedGameHistory/savedGameHistory/savedGameHistory /savedGameHistory/savedGameHistory/savedGameHistory/savedGameHistory/savedGameHi story/savedGameHistory/savedGameHistory/savedGameHistory/savedGameHistory/savedG ameHistory/savedGameHistory/savedGameHistory/savedGameHistory/savedGameHistory/s avedGameHistory/savedGameHistory/savedGameHistory/savedGameHistory/savedGameHist ory/savedGameHistory/1313349538-pocket_gems_crash_report.txt" (MBErrorDomain/102)
I manually snyc'ed that particular app and then re-ran the restore and am now the proud owner of a working iphone. Not sure it is the same problem or app but looking in the console was the key!

  • Older itunes purchases cutting out half way through

I've been noticing for some time (this is not my first attempt to get an answer) that my older itunes purchases cut out about half way through when played on my ipod (but not when played on my PC) I've tried to find an answer on Apple forums before but it seems to be one of those questions that never gets a good answer. I'm beginning to wonder if it is Apple's way of getting us to buy our music all over again, but they wouldn't be that cynical would they. Anyway, since I'm increasingly unwilling to trust Apple to look after my music I'm going back to CDs whenever possible. I don't always want to buy an entire album, so does anyone have a real remedy for this problem?

    Hello Jo Tampoco,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that you have some purchased music that plays as expected in your iTunes library on your computer but does not on your iPod touch. Any purchases made in the iTunes Store can be downloaded again at no charge as long as the item(s) are still available for purchase so you will not be asked to repurchase these items.
For troubleshooting, depending on how your music is being moved to your iPod, there are some steps I would suggest. If you are syncing the music from your computer to your iPod and the music on the iPod is not playing completely, I would suggest trying to download that music directly from your purchases to your iPod. To do this, please use the instructions in the first article below.
Download past purchases - Apple Support
If you have been downloading the purchases directly to the iPod and the music is not playing completely, I would suggest syncing the music from your iTunes library and testing to see if it will play as expected once it is on the iPod.

  • Itunes purchased song stops half way through

I recently transfered my itunes library to a new Macbook 13 inch. It was tricky to do because my library was on an external hard drive. I did have to redownload some, but not all of my purchased content. Now many of my itunes purchased songs are clipped midway through the song when played. This is only happening to songs that I purchased in itunes. Any ideas as to how to fix this problem?  Thanks!

If you are in a country where re-downloading is possible (check this with iTunes in the Cloud and iTunes Match Availability by Country - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5085), delete the track (and the original file) and download again (Downloading [using iOS or computer] past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519).  See tips on downloading in https://discussions.apple.com/message/19097773, especially unchecking the "Allow Simultaneous Downloads" box in the downloads tab of iTunes.

  • Downloaded iTunes songs cutting off half way through.

Recently, many of the songs that I have downloaded from iTunes are cutting off midway through the song.  The song plays out for the original length of the song, but there is no audio.  Most of these songs were downloaded to a Macbook Pro.  I have an iPod and a iPad2.  I'm experiencing these problems on both devices.  What can I do to correct this?  All devices have been updated and synced.

If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copies of the dodgy tracks and try redownloading fresh copies. For instructions, see the following document:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Otherwise, I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the items that are not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the items, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" links next to the items.

  • Rented movie from iTunes cannot be copied to iPod

We just rented our first movie from the iTunes store, and are experiencing problems. Our intention was to rent the movie so that we could watch it on our iPod. The problem is that when we try to copy the downloaded rental to the iPod, we get a message saying:
"This movie was not copied to the iPod because it cannot be played on this iPod."
I have no idea why this is happening. We have the latest version of iPod software and iTunes software, and everything appears to be compatible. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Never mind. 15 minutes of research revealed that we own a 5th generation iPod, which evidently is not compatible with rentals. I am quite annoyed. Thanks Apple, for not making this clear at all in your FAQ. There should be a much more definitive description for compatibility in the FAQ, as I don't know anyone who is aware of which specific 'generation' of iPod they own. I had to go through the huge list of past and present models on the support site before figuring this out.
Does anyone know if it is possible to get a refund if we have not yet attempted to play the movie on our Windows machine that we rented the movie with?

  • Itunes cut off music half way through

I got a new Macbook Pro so copied over my music successfully. I then synced my ipod. A lot of the songs are now either missing or stop after around 2 minutes for no reason. This has now synced the same onto my ipod.
I am really unhappy as I am a radio presenter and a lot of music now has to be played fully before burning.
Point 2 when trying to burn CD's burners not supported coming up

  • Restore from Time Machine Backup fails half-way through...

I'm trying to fix my mom's 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo 24" Aluminum iMac (w/ 2GB of RAM). It was stuck on the white screen with the Apple logo and a spinning wheel. I tried a few things to get it to boot up but nothing worked, so I booted up using my OX 10.5 Leopard disk (the retail box version) and tried to repair the disk using Disk Utility. Disk Utility couldn't un-mount the disk so I decided to erase the disk and start from scratch.
So I erased the disk and formatted in OS Extended (Journaled). Then I ran the repair disk function and the disk checks out OK. So, here is my problem:
When I tried to restore from a Time Machine backup, everything worked normally until it got about 20% through the restore process. At that point it froze for a while and then gave me an error message that the restore failed and asked if I would like to restart?
I've tried this a few times, all with approximately the same result (it either freezes or gives me the error/restart message).
What's wrong with my mom's computer?

    c.d.stone wrote:
The restore process is just spinning it's wheels and the log says "erasing" drive name.
Is the drive name your internal?
UPDATE: When I stopped the restore function I checked the error log again and it said "could not un-mount disk for erasure" Not sure what that means. Anyone know how to fix that?
I'm pretty sure something is wrong with the hard drive installed on the iMac at this point. I tried to do a clean install of 10.5.0 from the Leopard retail DVD and that stalled early in the process as well.
Yes, it sure sounds like it. It now sounds like both the TM restore and Erase and Install are unable to erase your internal HD. It's not even getting to your TM backups, or installing OSX.
Let's double-check and try again. Boot from the Install disc again, and completely reformat the internal HD. Be sure to use the GUID Partition Map scheme if it's an Intel Mac, or the +Apple Partition Map+ scheme if it's a PPC. And use the +Mac OS Extended (Journaled)+ format.
It might be worth taking the time to then do a +Zero Out.+ Select Erase, then +Security Options,+ then +Zero Out Disk+ (the one-pass option is sufficient). That will, obviously, write zeros to the entire disk. If this fails, the disk is dying and likely the cause of the whole mess. If it passes, it isn't necessarily ok, but it's a pretty good sign, and you may be able to proceed with the restore.
