TS1702 Using an iPad camera connection kit and a MIDI to USB cable to interface a MIDI keyboard with GarageBand. It works flawlessly... almost...

I'm using an iPad camera connection kit and a MIDI to USB cable to interface a MIDI keyboard with GarageBand. It works flawlessly... until I use the sustain pedal. Once the pedal is depressed while playing a given note, from then on, the pedal itself plays the note every time it is depressed. It's not the keyboard or the pedal. I've tried others. That leaves the app or the connection between the iPad and the keyboard. I find it hard to believe I'm the only person who is experiencing this problem. Anyone have a fix?

Yes.  There are a ton of write-ups on how to do the connections.   I connect my m-audio Keystation 61 es through the CCK to my iPad and use GarageBand to control it.  Some keyboards require a powered USB hub to make things work.  I use a belkin 4 port hub in my own setup.   Here is a link to tested / verified keyboards that work via the CCK:  http://iosmidi.com/devices/

I don't think you can connect a printer since you won't have the printer drivers. I use FingerPrint from collobos.com to print to my non-AirPrint printers.

  • IPad Camera Connection Kit and iPhone 3GS

I just got home with a Camera Connection kit and while it works with an iPhone 4 and even with an old iPhone 3G I had lying around, it doesn't work with my iPhone 3GS, giving me a "The attached accessory uses too much power" error. Both the iPad and the iPhone work normally (and the iPhone's warranty expired 5 months ago). I have already tried to reset settings, reboot both the iPad and the iPhone and still couldn't getit to work. Is there anything I need to know to make it work with the 3GS running 4.2.1?

Here are some picturres of what is happening. If it works with the iPhone 3G and the 4, it should work with the 3GS as well...

  • IPad camera connect kit and iPhone 4

Will you be able to use the SD version of the iPad camera connection kit with the iPhone 4 to transfer photos to the iPhone?
    TIA

I have both iPad Wifi 64GB and iPhone4 16GB. Apple did this one right. Just plug in the camera connector with USB to the iPad, use your 30 pin to USB iPhone4 connector, and the videos/photos on the iPhone4 show right up in the iPad, select and transfer.
This means you can record on the iPhone4, HD video, and view it on the iPad. Yes, some will grouse that the camera should be on the iPad, and one day it will be. For now, however, the two are a great duo. I'm taking them both to China, with a Blue Mikey for CD quality audio.
I wish iMovie for iPhone4 was so good. It is not, yet, not nearly. Very disappointing.

  • I have purchased an iPad camera connection kit and when I attach my Canon Rebel XT I get a message that camera will not work.

In the title, I have this kit and it will allow me to connect my camera to the iPad (and my iPod) but gives me a message that this model camera (?) will not work with either. The camera is a Canon EOS Rebel XT and about 5 years old. I had an earlier connection kit that worked with a Canon (don't know the model) earlier but now I have no function with this equipment. Any suggestions?

With a Rebel XT / 350D you need to enable PTP (Picture Transfer Protocol) on it in its settings :
Is that what it's currently set to ?

  • TS3989 I do not see any photos copied to iPad using iPad camera connection kit before PhotoS Stream and iCloud were enabled.

I had no problem importing photos to my iPad using the iPad camera connection kit, but now that they are there, I can not get them back off of my iPad.  I have set up an iCloud account and enabled Photo Stream on my iPad, downloaded and installed the iCLoud control pannel for Windows, enabled Photo Stream there, and set the download and upload folders.  In my "Photos" on iPad I curently have 3 albums: Camera Roll, All Imported, and a sigle folder with some of the photos included in the "All Imported" folder.  If I select Photo Stream, there are no photos present, and the note at the bottom explains that it uploads and stores the last 30 days of photos on iCloud and downloads them to all my devides... except.. I just enabled iCloud, and the pix were imported 6 months ago.  I really see no logical way of getting them back off this device.  Can anyone help highlight what I have overlooked?  Thanks.  -njw

Never mind... when all else fails... use a cable.  D'Ohhh...

  • Apple iPad Camera Connection Kit, can I use it with USB speakers?

I have a speaker system which has a USB connection so can i use Apple iPad Camera Connection Kit to listen to the music from my iphone 4 on to the speakers..will the camera connection kit support it?

The Camera Connection Kit is for connecting a camera or SD card to your iPad and downloading photos. It is not a general USB port addition to your iPad.

  • Why can I not load pictures from a micro SD 64gb using scan disk adapter plugged into an Apple iPad camera connection kit.  I have the iPhoto app but pictures not being seen on iPad.  So incredibly frustrating.  Apple please fix this.

Do you have a smaller capacity micro SD card to try? I seem to remember from past posts that users were having problems with cards larger than 32GB, however, Apple's page doesn't mention this.

  • Apple iPad Camera Connection Kit compatibility

I was wondering, will the iPad 2 recognize the iPhone 5s when using Apple iPad Camera Connection Kit? I saw that there are two connectors that come with the kit. If i use the connector that has the camera emblem and plug  it to connect my 5s, will it recognize it as a camera? I talked to Apple chat and they were no help as they suggested me to message myself the videos. We all know that messaging decompressed files and whatnot. Anyone has experience on this? I just want an easy way transferring pictures and videos taken with the iPhone to my iPad without using a computer or laptop.

Yes, if you plug the CCK into your iPad 2 and plug the USB cable to your iPhone 5s and into the CCK your iPad 2 should see the photos in the Camera Roll on your iPhone. The iPhone, in this case, looks like a camera to the iPad 2.

  • HT4236 Have ipad2 & iPad camera connection kit - still doesn't download photos on SD card

Plugged in SD card from camera to a newly purchased ipad2 via the new iPad camera connection kit and it will not download these photos. Tried the same on a friends ipad2 and it works fine. Do I need to download a new app or just update the photo booth that I already have?

It doesn't go into photobooth. WHen you plug in the CCK and SD card it should open the photos app all on its own, open the card and then there'll be the select dialogue where you tap on the photos you want to import.
Try resetting your iPad. Hold down the home and sleep keys, past when you see the red slider and until you see the silver apple. Let it reboot and try again.
Since it works on another ipad, you know there's photos on the card and they're formatted right, along with the CCK working, so the issue must be your iPad. Sometimes there's a glitch and resetting helps that.

  • IPad camera connection kit compatibility with SD cards

    Hi there,
I am really hoping that someone can help me out, I am going mad!
I am gong on holiday for 5 weeks and want to be able to get photos from my camera to iPad while away.
So I bought the Apple iPad camera connection kit. There was nothing that mentioned that it is not compatible with certain SD cards, so it seemed ideal.
I don't have a fancy camera, just a simple Sony Cybeshot, the card I have is 'SanDisk memory stick pro duo 2 gb magic gate'. The card is slightly smaller than the slot on the apple card reader but seems to fit into it fairly well. However, when I plug it in nothing happens, not even an error message- this lead me to believe that it was a fault with the equipment...or am I wrong- could it be that the card is not compatible??
I have tried everything, changing the format on the card via the camera, taking cover off iPad to ensure connection is solid and turning iPad on and off again.
The other thing is that my camera does not seem to have anything to attach a USB cable to.
PLEASE help me, before iPad AND connector go out of the window!!
    Spec-
    iPad 2 64 GB
SanDisk Memory Stick Pro Duo 2GB magicGate
    Camera Sony Cybershot
    Version 4.3.5 (8L1)
    Thank you

An SD card is a Secure Digital type memory card.  SD stands for Secure Digital, not Sandisk. A memory stick pro duo 2 gb magic gate
is a Memory Stick Pro duo type of card.
They are different types of cards. the Camera connection kits only works with the Secure Digital type.

  • I recently got a iPad camera connection kit hoping to directly download my photos from the memory card for my camera, a Sony Cybershot. When I put my memory card in the adapter and plug it in to the iPad nothing happens. What am I doing wrong?

I recently purchased an iPad camera connection kit hoping to directly download pictures from my camera to my iPad. When I put my memory card into the adapter and plug it in to my iPad nothing happens.  My camera is a Sony Cybershot and the memory card is a Sony memory stick PRO duo 512 mb.  I don't think I am doing anything incorrect.  Is my camera/memory card incompatible with this adapter?

The Camera Connection Kit works with SD cards, not Memory Sticks.
Maybe you can find an MS to SD adapter, or use the USB connection with the USB cable that came with the camera.

  • HT4101 I have a NIKON COOLPIX P500 but am unable to download photos through the IPad camera connection kit. I have tried to use the Sandisk card also - no result. Any suggestions? The Ipad does not "see" the card or camera?

I have a Nikon Coolpix P500 but am unable to download photos from it to my iPad2 via the iPad Camera Connection kit. The iPad does not see either the Sandisk 8GB card or the Nikon camera. I have turned the camera on, but it seems that the camera just want to recharge its battery through the iPad as the iPad states that the devices draws too much power?? Anybodu solved this problem yet? Advise please?

One thing to check is the format that the camera is saving pics to the card in. Many are selectable and, in most cases, if PTP is one of the options then you need to have that one selected for the files to be visible to iOS and the CCK (connection kit).
Another thing which sometimes comes up, especially with older cameras and therefore probably not with yours, is the filenaming conventions used by the camera. iOS is quite strict about what it expects to see and if files are being stored with unsupported name formats then they simply won't be seen at all.

  • Apple Camera Connection Kit and iPad 2 IOS7 work?

I Have an iPad 2 running IOS 7.1. I was wondering if I bought the Apple Camera Connection Kit (genuine 29$ one) if it would import photos and videos from my camera? Thanks.

    Hi Breanna2405,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that you are curious about the Apple iPad Camera Connection Kit. The kit comes with two connectors, each with a different interface. The kit has a USB interface that you can use to attach your digital camera or iPhone to and it also has an SD Card Reader to import photos and videos directly from your camera’s SD card. The following product information can be found on the link below.
