TS1717 whilst downloading the Iphone software..it has come up with a message of itunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. You must restore this iphone before it can be used with iTunes..if I do this I will lose everything..what can I do?

i was downloading the latest software upgrade when the message "Itunes has detected an Iphone in recovery mode. You must restore this phone before it can be used with Itunes" came up. My option of I phone recovery mode says that it will restore the Iphone to factory mode losing all information.
is there anything I can do to prevent this?

If the iPhone is in recovery mode, all data is already lost.
Restore it.
