Guys try this; it worked for me.
I recently bought MacBook Pro 15" & updated everything. All worked well till I started iTunes. The computer froze & I had to press the power button. This happenned again & again.
This is what I did & you too can try it. It's risk-free:
Go > Home > Music
Rename the folder "iTunes" to anything, e.g. "iTunes-old"
Start iTunes, it will work normally and will create a new folder "iTunes"
"iTunes-old" is still there. If you need something from it, take it, otherwise you may delete the folder.
Have fun.

Having trouble with music apps shutting down, even after I swipe them off the screen. They go off then come back on in a few minutes. This happens in my car either ubs plugged in, or bluetooth. ANy one else have that issue?

I'm giving it one more chance and then Mac goes into trash. My iMac is either remotely accessed, perhaps malicious code, hacked and/or all of the aforementioned. I am not savvy in these areas. Please read some of the many symptoms and if you can assist me -- I am beyond grateful. If you want to say it is my fault because I allowed somebody to use my computer or other nonsense please do not waste my time or yours. This is serious and has been going on for a period of time that is longer then I can remember!
I have a neighbor, lives in my apartment building, 'had' physical access to my iMac. Shortly after this I started to have problems that beyond any nightmare I have ever heard of - whether it be Windows or Apple! Please feel free to ask me any question(s) that might help me rid my iMac of this malicious act as the police have been useless -- say they do not have equipment to check my Mac. FBI can't b bothered.
It is more then clear that a person(s) has access and has messed up the OS, among other terrible things. He took over my Facebook account months ago, posted as though he was me. He also prevented me from getting back into FB and Yahoo to close those connected accounts. Went to an Apple store, under protection of their router and removed FB/Yahoo accounts. The pages that were showing at home turned out to be fake pages controlled by him. (Think they are called "defaced").
Anytime I did a 7X or zero out clean install -- he was there before I even hooked up the router!!!
It came to a point that I can no longer even get to the erase/Utility/install from my apartment so I took it to Apple more then once. Besides erase/install, I turned off ALL Sys Preferences that could alert him to Mac. The last time I received a gray Install CD and was told to take it out of the building and do another erase/install. There is no sense of going through this until I know if/how to get rid of him.
Also when I first sign on I ALWAYS get a 192.168.100.11. I do NOT have a router. I then go to System Preferences to Network and click "renew DHCP" several times before I get an IP addy! I am not savvy in this area but do feel that this is a major clue.
Passwords have been changed, master password is not something I can access which prevents me updating, etc., etc.
I will not bombard you with every detail as that would take several pages. I am beyond desperate. Will be happy to provide further details to serious responders only.

Disconnect your Mac from your cable modem;
Back up any documents on your system that are important to you;
Boot your Mac from the system installation disks that came with it (insert the disk, restart your Mac, and hold down the "c" key until you get the "spinning gear" icon);
Choose a language and click the arrow button to continue;
From the Utilities menu, choose Disk Utility;
In Disk Utility, select your computer's hard drive;
Click the "Erase" tab;
Click the "Security Options" button and select to have it overwrite all the data on the hard drive;
Click the "Erase" button and allow it to process;
Once the "erase process has completed (it will take a while), reinstall Mac OS X.
Or, if this is too much for you to accomplish on your own, take your system to an Apple Store and have them help you perform these steps. If your system was indeed compromised, this will remove any such hack. You can then set up a new user account for the computer, reinstall your applications (reinstall only from original disks or downloads from the company making the software) and documents, and reconnect to the Internet.
Note that when you reconnect to the cable modem, you may still get an IP address starting with 198. This is normal with some cable modems and probably not a cause for concern. It will not be an indication that your system is still compromised; that will not be possible if you perform all the above steps.

When I type anything in Firefox like an e-mail, spaces do not register immediately when I hit the spacebar, and it slows down my typing tremendously. I just installed Firefox today, and I had never had this problem before. I tested it in both my word processing program and in Internet Explorer, and there was no delay in either program, so I know it has to be a glitch with the FF program. Is there a way to fix this?
Also, sometimes when I would tap the mousepad to click a link, the screen would just scroll/jump to the bottom of that page instead of going to the next page. It did this on every attempt to click the link (I was reading a message in e-mail and was trying to go to my inbox, but it wouldn't let me).Okay, I found the solution. I simply restarted my computer, and the problem has gone away...so far.

I had the beta version of VISTA with a soundblaster li've card in my PC, I bought the Xi-Fi Xtreme Music Card?last month?for one purpose and hoping it would work with the FULL VERSION OF?VISTA. To enhance the quality of recording my music. Now with?VISTA,? its all messed up, still the same problem with?the li've card that the VISTA beta gave me. The?driver you have to download on here is not complete, sound stutters.. Mp3's crackle.... I can't record my music properly now. I? had to reinstall my Windows XP MCE,?and in?limbo with a copy VISTA home that I can't use properly.

I am very confused and a bit pissed at the moment, can someone PLEASE let me know what is going on. Or when this problem is going to be FIXED!!..Have you read the stickies on Windows Vista compatibility? Final drivers for the X-fi will be out in a few weeks it looks like. Meanwhile, if you're doing any mission-critical activities on your computer, you don't have any business using Vista just yet. I mean, most companies won't even switch to Vista for a year or more. There are going to be all kinds of issues when a new OS is released. I wish people would understand that before wigging out in the forums. I'm using my X-fi fatality pro series in Vista Ultimate and yes I miss the console launcher, working ac3 passthrough through spdif, and all the other stuff. But maybe I'm lucky in that my digital out works and EAX seems to work fine in BF242.
The point is, I knew going into the upgrade that some things wouldn't work or work properly for a little while. So no, nobody is kidding you. Just stick with Win XP until official drivers are up for all your hardware. Vista isn't going anywhere so I suggest you relax. -
White spotting on MBP - You've got to be kidding me

I have a week 11 MBP that I received as a system replacement for a PB G4 that had to be sent back 4 times for white spotting on my LCD. I was grateful to Apple for approving this exchange for me and have been mostly happy with my MBP.
Well, much to my dismay, I woke up this morning to what looks like white spotting on my MBP - You've got to be kidding me! It's strange, but just to the center-left and center-right of my LCD are a series of white spots in perfect circles. I can see six of them right now. They are about 1/4 inch in diameter and very noticeable with all background colors.
I absolutely cannot believe this - I am VERY frustrated with this. Has anyone else noticed this?
- JBRichard, I agree with what you are saying in terms of outsourcing. I agree with you that it is a "Quality Control" issue. It is good to keep in mind that until the mid 70's Japanese made goods were also like how we perceive the Chinese ones today. And just remember how bad the craftsmanship were within GM cars made in the States in the late 80's and Mercedes made in Germany in the 90's.. Companies do take notice of consumer complaints and get their act together in the end.. Sadly we are on the recieving end of this right now and acting like the guinea pigs, I guess it is the price to pay sometimes when being the first to test new technology. Having said that I have all the faith in Apple to resolve the issues and support us with all the concerns. I had to replace mine too and the current one has the CPU whine but I am getting around it with temp. fixes until something solid is announced.. Kind regards

I've done a separate search and found that other users are affected, but there doesn't seem to be a clear-cut solution ... (Norton, McAfee and Kaspersky don't seem to be able to detect/fix it).
I'd like to continue using the Firefox/Google combination (nb: the hijack virus also affects IE but not Safari) - do you have a patch/fix that could rectify the vulnerability in your software?

I've got a customer who has a problem with CIFS on an oes2 cluster. We opened up a SR and sent the Tech Support several configuration files and the load.out & unload.out log files. This is the answer we got:
"With regards to Service Request 10697418951 (CIFS on cluster resource comatose)
The file shows that the add secondary IP address for 139.64.221.215 was done. Then a ping to that address was done and there was no reply. Then there was an ARP for that address that also failed. So it appears that the IP binding of that address failed. That would cause the ncpcon bind of the resource name to the IP address to also fail which would explain why the resource went comatose. So we have to try to figure out why the IP binding failed that day. If it ever works, then it was likely that this particular time there was a problem with the driver loading or the NIC not being available, etc. I hope this is what you were looking for.

Of course I'm not going to show any names. You have got to be kidding me? The Tech Support individual obviously had / has no idea how a cluster works. The resource has to ping the address and ARP it before it can bind it. Just makes sense... Now, this is the answer that I helped the customer write:

The Ping for the add secondary IP address is a standard procedure when the cluster adds the secondary IP address. It pings the address first to make sure that it is available. If the ping returns an answer (so successful) then the cluster resource will go comatose, because the address is already assigned. As far as I know this is standard operating procedure for all cluster resources. My other cluster resources also do this and do not get an answer and therefore do not go comatose. This cannot be our problem. The ARPing falls under the same category. This cannot be our problem.
As was stated in the original call that when we load a cluster resource without the CIFS protocoll enabled it has no problems and we can then perfom the novcifs --add command manually and it is successful. When we activate the CIFS protocoll within the cluster resource (iMgr) and take the resource offline then online it goes comatose. The resource was originally created with OES2 sp1, therefore we've used the cifsPool.py scripts. Both of them give us the INVALID_DN_SYNTAX error. We have a test cluster that was installed with SP3 and when we activate CIFS for an existing cluster resource we have a similar problem. When we activate CIFS directly when creating a resource it works. This is a known problem with cluster resources that were created before OES2 sp2. As stated I believe that the cifsPool.py scripts still have a problem, that or sp3 has a problem (INVALID_DN_SYNTAX error). Please note what I said relating to creating an SP3 cluster resource w/o CIFS activiated and then activiating it.

Now, I do not want to be rude but WTF? The customer is already REALLY upset with Novell because we implemented oes2 SP3 in order to setup CIFS and it caused his cluster to regularly die (SR 10687567801). The solution to that was available 2 months later, eDirectory 8.8 sp6 Patch2 from April 22, 2011. The customer is not very happy....
I've worked professionaly with Novell products since 1989. What is going on? And what is going on with the open SR relating to CIFS? Is it possible to get help from someone that actually knows the products involved? No offense intended...

I can't log in to game centre but I can log into iTunes. I recently changed my password. I checked the troubleshooter and am getting the message regarding server error but how do I fix this? It doesn't specify this in that article. I don't have firewalls
