TS1741 What causes a downloaded movie on iTunes to take a week to download?

Need help with iTunes movie downloading slowly in appletv

The first thing to check would be your internet download speed, you can do this at www.speedtest.net.
1080p HD movies require a recommended speed of 8 Mbps, 720p HD movies require a recommended speed of 6 Mbps, while SD movies require a recommended speed of 2.5 Mbps.

  • What resolution is HD movies in iTunes store?

    Hi,
I am a bit confused, and I hope someone here can clear up my confusion
I was about to purchase the new TinTin movie in HD from iTunes, but I have become a bit uncertain about the actual resolution of the HD movies, and from which device I should purchase the movie to get best quality.
    Here is why:
When I look at iTunes store from my Mac the movie is presented as 720p with a filesize of 3.50GB, and when I look at iTunes store from my new iPad it is shown as 1080p, but the filesize is "only" 3.43GB.
This does not make sense to me. Why should the movie in iTunes on the Mac only be 720p vs 1080p on the iPad. And why does the 1080p version on the iPad have a smaller footprint than the 720p version on the Mac?
Are the versions different or will I get 720p (or 1080p) no matter from which device I purchase it?
Can anybody shed some light on that?
    Thanks.

Interesting. I'm no expert on the topic, but this is what I think might be going on. From the How to purchase, download, or view HD 1080p1 content section of the following document:
iTunes: Purchasing and viewing HD videos
    ... I'm seeing:
iTunes 10.6 by default is set to purchase, download, and playback HD content in 720p. You must change your local preference setting if you prefer to download, purchase, and playback HD content in 1080p1.
So, if you adjust iTunes on your Mac as per the instructions in that section of the document does your iTunes also show you the 1080p option on the Mac?

  • What cause apps download to freeze

I have about 7apps still hung up in the process of downloading. Now every app I try to down load is hung up. I tried to delete the apps by shaking them, but there is no (x) above the app to click on to delete. Help please!

There may be another stalled download in iTunes, podcasts or in iBooks. There could have been an issue with the Internet connection as well that caused one download to stall and then every other app that you tapped on in order to update, just made the problem worse.
See if any of these suggestions help. Ignore anything that you have already tried.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Make sure that you do not have a stalled download in iTunes - a song or podcast .... if you have a download in there that did not finish, complete that one first. Only one thing can download at a time on the iPad so that could be what is causing the problem.
If that doesn't work - sign out of your account, restart the iPad and then sign in again.
Settings>iTunes & App Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Go back to Settings>iTunes & App Store>Sign in and then try to update again. Tap one waiting icon only if necessary to start the download stream.
You can also try deleting the waiting icons - tap and hold down on an icon until it wiggles - the tap the X on the icon to delete it. Then try to download again.
You can try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your app preferences and device settings again.
If all else fails, download the updates or the apps in iTunes on your computer and then sync the content to your iPad.

  • HT1498 Is it typical for a rented movie through iTunes to take hours to download?

I rented a movie through iTunes which was paid for without trouble. Now, whenever I go to start the movie, it says it needs at least 4 hours to load. I'm just trying to make sure that this is typical for Apple TV and nothing to do with any problems with the Apple TV.

  • What causes the 4002 error in iTunes?

I keep getting the unknown 4002 error, what causes this and how do I fix it?

I have received a 4001, 4002, and 4010 error numbers. I cannot find anything from Apple that describes each of them and what the difference is. And, of course, I cannot find anything from Apple Inc. that tells us how to resolve it or when they will fix it.
All I do know is iTunes Match is broken and does not work. I also know I cannot listen to my songs that are in the cloud, so what good did it do me for Apple Inc. to build server farms all over the place? None that I can tell.
I have resurrected a long-put away iPod to listen to my music because the songs are on a hard drive, not some cloud-like thing. And this I also know: I will never buy another Apple product again. They have become too big, too arrogant, too corporate-centered, and far too selfish since Steve Jobs left the company.
    Good bye, Apple Inc.

    Hi, Kenny.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
There are a couple things that I would recommend trying.  Try closing all open applications and power cycle the device.  Next, go through the section labeled Troubleshoot issues on an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch in the second article below.  If the issue persists, try completely signing out of the iTunes Store on the iOS device and sign back in.  Be sure to test downloading an application after each step.
