TS1814 iphone mobile security

Some anti-virus companies offer mobile security for Android system phones. Does Apple offer something similar to better protect a user from viruses and other threats via internet?

> Existence of vulnerabilities does not imply the existence
> of malware that takes advantage of them.
I think its a bit naive to claim there's no malware using vulnerabilities (did I re-phrase it correctly?). If you would have said "not in wide spread use," then I would have agreed with you. Apple tightly controls its ecosystem, so its not being spread via the App Store like Google Play for Android.
Apple does not control the web, as JailbreakMe.com demonstrates.
> Often, vulnerabilities are closed before anyone actually takes advantage of them.
Not in Apple's case. They regularly procrastinate on patching. Confer: Apple sat on nearly 200 vulnerabilities while waiting to make their iOS 6.0 press release (http://lists.apple.com/archives/security-announce/2012/Sep/msg00003.html). Some of the vulnerabilities were quite alarming - from provisioning to code signing to remote code execution during web browsing.
Look at the number of vulnerabilities known to NVD that include remote code execution for "just" webkit with "just" iPhone: http://web.nvd.nist.gov/view/vuln/search-results?query=webkit+iphone.
I'm befuddled where the leap is being made that "no bad guy is using any of the known vulnerabilities" (again, to restate your position).

Personally I would not trust anything from Norton to run correctly on any Apple device.
As long as your iPhone is not jailbroken there is no need for additional software to protect it.

    Sorry Raj,
If you did not back up your information, and you have now restored your phone, then your information is not recoverable.

  • Why do iPhone mobile #'s from contacts come unlinked?

For the 3rd time in 4 weeks all my contacts that have an iphone number have become deleted from contacts.
Soooooo, what would cause all my contacts iPhone mobile numbers (categorized as iPhone, not mobile) to disappear, all of them?!?!?!?! I got some back by looking at recent calls, the numbers were there (no names), but not linked to the original contact.
    Thanks, Schooner

    Hey Guys,
I'm syncing with MobileMe/iMac(3 mos. old) along with iTunes, the way I've been doing for years..... this all started right around the time I downloaded Lion X. I don't use an exchange. It's very random, they're fine for 4 or 5 days and then they just dissappear. Literally, I'll be texting and they're there, then the next time I text it's just phone numbers, no names, and deleted from the specific contacts. Never happens to reagular mobile #'s, just the ones classified as an iPhone #'s
    thanks, Schooner

You need to be a little clearer in what you're asking.
You can't make any web site in SQL Server - it's a database engine, not a website tool.
What you can do is create web sites that pull data from a back-end SQL Server, but the SQL server doesn't handle the client connection at all (that's handled by a web server such as Apache, IIS, or similar).
There are many ways to build such a site including .NET, PHP, Perl and more (although I don't know all the options for Windows servers because they're not as common outside of corporate/enterprise networks).
In either case, given your choice of development language (HTML, plus one of the PHP/Perl/.NET/etc. options), plus your database (SQL Server) plus your web server (IIS, Apache, etc.) you can make any web site you like (or, at least, you're capable of developing).
If you want to opimize that web site for iPhones then there are many references on how mobile browsing differs from the desktop. I'd recommend this book as a reference (and, yes, I understand the irony of linking to a paperback book for web design guidance ). Googling mobile web design (or iPhone web design) might yield more results.

If you updated to iOS 6, you have a 3GS, not a 3G. The 3G can not run anything higher than 4.2.1.
Activation problems are almost always caused by one of 2 problems:
There is no SIM in the phone. A SIM is required for activation.
    or
The phone was previously hacked to illegally unlock it. You can not get help here for a hacked phone.

  • Mobility Secure Mode

    Hello,
We are working with WLC 5508 version 7.0.98.0 and we want to secure (encrypt) mobility messages between controllers but the command "config mobility secure-mode enable" apparently doesn't exist in this WLC version.
Does anybody know how to configure secure mode for mobility messages (udp port 16667) on this WLC version?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Mario

    Hi Mario,
This is not possible anymore. If you check the 7.0 config guide there is no mention of secure mode anymore.
In the 5.1-5.2-6.0 config guides, they added a note to say that the secure mode was not supported even if command was present in command line.
So this is not configurable since some versions already.
I heard something is coming to replace this need but no idea what it will be yet.
    Regards,
    Nicolas

  • Mobile Security Apps

Has anyone used a mobility security program like bullguard successfully? What are are downsides?

I have used Lookout and AVG anti-virus for almost two years without problems. I haven't looked at any other Security Apps since choosing those two.

  • Cant unistall mobile security n97?

Can anybody tell me how I can unistall trend Micro Mobiler security as it doesnt seem to work at all and when I tru to unistall it just hangs at the removing stage? Doesnt seem to be doing any harm but dont want software on their I dont need.

    Hello Arvan903,
If Norton Mobile Security came as preinstalled with your tablet, you can only disable it. You can completely remove it if you are rooted. A similar thread for your reference:

  • FIRMWARE N MOBILE SECURITY 4.0 ON N-70

I did a firmware upgrade yesterday and it went fine till I noticed that the Symantec Mobile Security 4.0 which was pre-installed on my phone could not not be found anywhere on the phone. I can locate it on the memory card through Application Manager but I can't do much from there and when I check to see the "certificate", it says "Problem: Unable to locate root certificate". The Nokia website says only to back-up "contacts, messages and images" as they will be lost in some phone models. They do not mention anything about applications and softwares installed on the phone. Can anybody help me out in restoring this software back on my phone without having to pay for it. The software was valid for almost 2 years. Any ideas?

I tried a lot to re-install the software before I put up my post but couldn't do so from within the phone. Then it occurred to me to try from the card reader and even there I couldn't locate the file. Later I ticked the option to show the hidden files and I could see it. So I had to copy the .sis file onto the PC and then from there install it on the phone. But now I am getting a validity period of only 6 months as opposed to the the previous 18-20 months. For future reference if you could explain to me how I can directly re-install files from within the phone menu, that would be great. Thanx a lot for your response. I greatly appreciate it.

  • McAfee Mobile Security

    Hello!
Are there any users of Mobile Security programmes like McAfee security for example? I just want to ask which one is the best and whether McAfee is worth of paying for premium version?
    thanks.

for that to work you will need to have a data plan and for the phone to be on, if someone remove the SIM card it will be pointless to have that. if you lose your phone you will have to access a PC right away but there are other apps to find your phone w/o antivirus.

  • NQ Mobile Security & Antivirus - Worth checking out...

Recently I have been investigating a new method of protecting my device since the latest DKFBootkit malware threat brought to light, at the moment only rooted device are the only ones effected by this malware but since hackers are becoming more and more familiar with methods to attack Android users...
I decided to try NQ Mobile Security and Antivirus app from the market and it appears rather impressive from first impression, I really love the option to control data use and also the detail list of all devices rights to curtain information on your device, like contact info, email, locations and so on..
    Check it out at https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nqmobile.antivirus20&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDEsImNvbS5ucW1vYmlsZS5hbnRpdmlydXMyMCJd

I've heard that NQ isn't bad. There's also Kaspersky & another one that people tend to like but dagnabit if it isn't escaping me at the moment. Sure there's the standard Lookout & Avast! out there but this was yet another one. Maybe it was Bitdefender? Oh that's going to drive me batty now.
ANYWHO...I actually found an article comparing the various apps out there. I wonder if I can find it again. They did some pretty extensive "testing" of the various apps out there. I currently have AVG and I'm about to dump it because of the testing and go with either Avast! or perhaps Kaspersky. I haven't decided yet. May look into NQ again. I already have a Norton's thingy-ma-bob on my phone but haven't ditched it yet. Probably could.
I'll see if I can find that article this evening or tomorrow if you're interested.
