Did you try the things listed here? Error 3194, Error 17, or "This device isn't eligible for the requested build" - Apple Support Is your device jailbroken? Have you ever used the computer to jailbreak a device? Are you trying to load an iOS other than the current one? What version of iPhone are you using? Is this occurring when attempting to update via iTunes and the computer?

Did you get an error message when you did the standalone AMDS install? If so, what does it say? (Precise text, please.)

Why does it say the phone could not be synced because the connection to the iPhone was reset?

I have a new iPhone 6. I am trying to sinc the new phone to my iMac however it says "The iPhone could not ne synced because the connection to the iPhone was reset.
What does this mean? what do i have to do next?

If you are using a USB hub, switch to a USB port directly on the iMac.

Error 9006 when restoring your iOS device indicates that there is security software on your computer which is preventing connection to the Apple server or your device. To troubleshoot this issue please follow the directions below.

It sounds as though you are experiencing an issue with an Apple ID and authorizations. Based on your post, it sounds like you are familiar with the authorizing and deauthorizing process. The Apple ID in question (your wife's email) may be originating from the iPhone you are attempting to update. Is it possible that your wife created an Apple ID or iCloud account which is signed in on that iPhone? This happens if the file is no longer where iTunes expects to find it. Possible causes are that you or some third party tool has moved, renamed or deleted the file, or that the drive it lives on has had a change of drive letter. It is also possible that iTunes has changed from expecting the files to be in the pre-iTunes 9 layout to post-iTunes 9 layout, or vice-versa, and so is looking in slightly the wrong place.
Select a track with an exclamation mark, use Ctrl-I to get info, then cancel when asked to try to locate the track. Look on the summary tab for the location that iTunes thinks the file should be. Now take a look around your hard drive(s). Hopefully you can locate the track in question. If a section of your library has simply been moved, or a drive letter has changed, it should be possible to reverse the actions.
Alternatively, as long as you can find a location holding the missing files, then you should be able to use my FindTracks script to reconnect them to iTunes .

Seems like the downloaded file was corrupt that could be because of either network restriction or the anti virus might have blocked it. My suggestion would be to try and download the product either by turning off the Antivirus or try a different network.

Activation issues are almost always the result of a device that has been hacked or jailbroken. If that is the case, no support can be provided here.
The other possible issue is a device running the iOS7 Beta. If that is the case, and you are a developer, sign into the developers forums for assistance. If that is the case and you are not a developer, try google.

A while ago, I was cleaning out some old pictures and music from my computer. I noticed there were a lot of songs that I did not recognize, and they had nothing to do with my itunes. I figured my step-dad or sister might have put those songs on my computer or something. So I deleted a few of them. The next day or so I realized all my music was gone from my itunes. I still had the account but everything was wiped clean, my music and playlists. I plugged in my ipod hoping it would restore all my music but nothing happened, I still had my music on my ipod and my cell phone. A friend of mine took my ipod, and put all of the music on a hard drive, gave me the hard drive and I transferred all of it in a folder onto my desktop. Then I drug that entire folder into my itunes library. When I click to play a song through itunes a box pops up and says "The song could not be used because the original file could not be found. Would you like to locate it?" When I click on the song to play it in the folder, it will go to itunes and then play it through there. But I cant just go click on the song in my itunes and play it.

It means the media is not where iTunes expects it to be.
iOS devices are not and have never been backup devices.
Are the files in question still on the computer?
If not, you should restore them from the backup of the computer. You do have a backup, correct?

B-rock, thanks for posting the above. I actually have the same issue, running Windows XP and I don't have that backup location, \Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\. When I go to Documents and Settings\(username)\ there's a AppData folder followed by:\LocalLow\DataMngr\ .
I have the latest update, 5.0.1 and I have the iPod Touch 3rd gen.
I have tried removing itunes and all that is associated with it then reinstalling and keep getting the same message. I've reset my ipod thinking that would help but still, no backup.
In iTunes, Edit, Preference, Device there are no backups.
What am I doing wrong, can you help?
