Have you tryed to restore the iPhone too ?
Restore the phone in iTunes using a backup, and if needed as a new iPhone, without using a backup.  However, the greyed out WiFi is often due to a hardware failure requiring replacement of the phone.

  • MacBook Air won't connect with TimeCapsule

I recently bought the new Time Capsule and for a while it was happily backing up both my and my wife's MacBook Airs. Then it stopped backing up my wife's computer. On investigation I find my wife's MacBook Air won't connect to the Time Capsule. When I try to select the Time Capsule as the back-up disk an error message appears: "There was a problem connecting to the server "John's AirPort Time Capsule"". I can see the Time Capsule in Finder on my wife's computer but when I click on "Connect As" I get the same error message. On my computer the Time Capsule appears in Finder as Connected, but disconnecting it doesn't make any difference to my wife's computer.
    Any help gratefully received.
    J

First, restart the Time Capsule by disconnecting the power adapter and reconnecting it. If other devices on the network can see it, you can skip this step.
    From the menu bar, select
     ▹ System Preferences ▹ Network
Click the lock icon in the lower left corner of the window and authenticate to unlock the settings, if necessary. Click the Advanced button, then select the TCP/IP tab in the sheet that drops down. Click Renew DHCP lease.
    Try again to back up.
If you still can't, open the Time Machine preference pane and delete the TC from the list of backup destinations. You may have to unlock the settings by clicking the lock icon in order to do this. Then add it back.

  • My new Macbook air won't connect to my Vizio HDTV.

My new Macbook Air won't connect to my Vizio VO32LF HDTV.  I bought a mini-displayport to HDMI cable to connect the two.  When I connect the cable, and switch to the appropriate HDMI input on the TV, my Macbook Air screen will flash blue for a second, and then return to normal.  The TV reports it's unable to find a signal.  I use the HDTV as my primary monitor, so I'd really appreciate some help on getting the two to place nicely together!

    Cp,
Thanks for the reply. However, it appears that the issue is not with the hotspot, but with the network settings in the MacBook Air as every other device I have (including non-Apple devices) will connect to the iPhone hotspot. Another symptom is that my MacBook Air can find my iMac (and other network devices) on my wireless network, but the iMac can't find the MacBook Air.

  • Macbook Pro won't connect to WIFI

Help! My new Macbook Pro won't connect to my home's existing WIFI network. The other computers (PCs) are running on it without a problem but when I try to join the network it rejects my password as being incorrect, though it definitely is the right one!

Check to make sure the Caps Lock is off.
What type of wireless security are you using? If it's WEP Mac's don't do WEP anymore and you will need to change it to WPA or WPA2.

  • Early 2014 MacBook Air Won't Connect to Wi-Fi

I recently ordered a new modem from my ISP, and discovered that the horrendous firmware that came preinstalled blocked out all of my forwarded ports. Since this is one of those combo routers/modems and I already have a router,  I called my ISP and told told them to bridge my connection to my main router. After having my connection bridged, my forwarded ports are functional, but my MacBook Air refuses to connect to Wi-Fi. Every other computer, tablet, and phone in the house connects just fine, so it really makes no sense to me. Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi davidfromwinfield,
I am sure it is frustrating to have changed your network configuration and have one device not functioning as desired. One thing I would suggest to you would be to make certain that your router is set up correctly and that it uses settings as suggested in the following article -

  • MacBook Pro won't connect to WiFi after installing a new modem...

WiFi set up fine on the other Mac in the house (MacBook Air) and on my Android phone (using WPS button on modem). I can find the network in the dropdown, but when I enter the password, it says "invalid"—even though it's correct. In the Network portal, I also get an error message saying that there is "no IP address"? Can't set up on iPad either. All used to connect just fine to the old network, just by entering a password. Any thoughts?

Hmmm...yes, there should be, although resetting the modem isn't hard (unless they mean something along the lines of resetting to factory settings). I wonder, tho, if the modem is old enough that something in your new computer is not communicating with it.
Can you connect with an ethernet cable? That might help you figure out if it really is a problem with your modem. You might also check with your internet service provider. I realize not all of them can deal with Macs, but if you rent the modem, they might be able to get you a newer model and if not, they may be able to make a suggestion.

  • Macbook Air Doesn't Connect To Wifi Upon Waking

Since installing Yosemite, whenever I wake my Macbook Air from sleep, it doesn't connect to Wifi. In order to get it to work, I have to open up Network Preferences/Assist me/Diagnostics and go through that process (then it works). Any suggestions on how to fix this?

    Hey there alhs77st,
If you are still having this issue where your computer is not connecting to your Wi-Fi network when you wake it from sleep, I would use the following article to help resolve that. This section in particular:

  • Macbook air can't connect to wifi but at the same time is connnected.

Hey there fellow mac users, I got myself a tiny problem around here.
My mid 2013 mba is connecting to my wifi at home, but when it's done connecting (and shows it's connected at the network panel) it doesn't load anything from firefox, safari, steam, apps, twitter etc etc. The problem lies within my mba I think, because all our other devices, (windows laptops, android phones, windows pc's and our ipad) can connect to the wifi and actually use it.
    Here's a few things I tried :
I tried turning it on and off (basic everyone does that)
resetting the router which I am connected to
    creating a new wifi location
using different dhcp adresses (i set it to 8.8.8.8. to test it with google)
and as a final thing I heard one of my friends worked around with something on the hardware (a 1453 thing Idk what it does but it didn't fix it)
Is there someone with enough knowledge of internet connectivity on Macs willing to help?

It appears that you have a question about the MacBook Air.......and we handle support for the Apple AirPort Express, AirPort Extreme and Time Capsule on this forum......so you will likely get a much faster and more informed response if you ask your question about a MacBook Air in the MacBook Air support forum.

  • MacBook Air can't connect to WiFi; iPhone, iPad can

I'm a pretty experienced Mac and WiFi user, but this one has me stumped.
I was recently waiting for my car to be serviced and tried to connect to the dealer's free WiFi network (Sonic via ATT broadband).  My iPhone 4s and my iPad3 had no problem signing-in to Sonic (OK'ing the terms) and accessing the internet, but I could not connect using my MacBook Air (model 4.2). I tried a number of things (e.g., refreshing the DHCP address, turning wifi off/on, etc.) - none worked.
The person at the dealership said, "Macs seem to have a probelm connecting."
FWIW, I have no problem connecting to my home, my work, and other WiFi networks on any of these devices.
Any ideas about why my iPhone and iPad can connect to the Sonic WiFi and my MacBook Air can't?

  • My MacBook Air won't connect to Apple TV.

Home Sharing is turned on on both the Apple TV and the MacBook Air, using the same apple ID.  Apple TV does not see the computer, and no "push" icon shows in the apps on the MacBook Air.  Using my MacBook Pro and signing on hte same way, I am able to push photos, music, and video to Apple TV.
    Any suggestions?

I am having the same issue.  Apple TV will connect intermintandly for video, and it will connect with audio.  Both the computer and the Apple TV are saying that the connection to the network is excellent and I do not have an issue connecting with the internet with any of my IOS devices or the computer.  It seems only to be the communication with Apple TV and the computer my IOS devises do not have the same problem.  Is there an issue with MacBook Air and Apple TV?

  • Macbook Air won't connect to Airport Extreme!

    I'm at a loss here.
Last week I got drive corruption because I lost connection while writing data to an external drive connected to my Airport Extreme (while using my iMac).
I had noticed the drive connection was dropping quite often, both using the iMac and Macbook Air...
After doing a bit of searching, I learned it could be that the Airport Extreme was dying... and indeed it explained why my internet had been so painfully slow at times too, which I had been blaming on the computers or browsers, not even thinking for 2 seconds about the router!
So I did the normal thing, and ordered the new Airport Extreme (mine was the 2nd generation, dating back 2008, so it was normal I upgraded).
Yesterday I installed the new Airport Extreme and everything seemed to work like a charm. Internet was fast and the drives didn't lose connection once on the Macbook Air (I didn't have a chance to test the iMac... altough the error message wasn't displayed anywhere when I looked at the screen this morning, so I guess it was good there too).
I made sure not to write anything on the drives, though, just to make sure the Aiport Extreme did work OK...
And this morning, what do I see on the Macbook Air? Impossible to connect!
    Internet works fine, no problem!
If I check Airport Utility, the Airport Extreme is there, green signal, everything's A-OK. And disk sharing is enabled, I double-checked.
I checked on the iMac... I can access the drives, just like yesterday.
But on the Macbook Air, I see the Airport Extreme icon in the Finder, but when I click on it I get the "Connecting..." for a while, until I get the "Failed to connect" and an error message saying it's impossible to connect to the server, to check if it's available and with the right IP address, etc.
How could it be offline, busy and/or with the wrong IP address if it's giving me internet and showing up as perfectly healthy on the Airport Utility???
How could it be not working, when it's working perfectly fine with the iMac???
The only thing I could see is if somewhere in the system the wrong info is sent (the right one for internet, the wrong one for Finder), but I don't know where that would be or how to change it.
I tried the usual restart, to no avail.
I tried removing the network in System Preference, and putting it back, no luck.
    As I said... I'm at a loss.
How could it just stop working, and just stop for the drive sharing?

  • Macbook Pro won't connect to wifi but other computers are working perfectly

    Hi,
I have a 2012 MacBook Pro that connects to WiFi no problem anywhere else - except for my parent's house (who I am currently visiting).  There are 2 other PCs in the house that connect to the WiFi without a problem, as does my iPhone.  When I try to connect, the Network Setup Assistant keeps saying "Connection Timeout" and then when I go into "Assist Me" the error comes up as "The password you entered is invalid."   I know that the password is correct, but I can't get passed this step...tried restarting computer and router but no luck.
    Help!!

Click the Advanced button in the Network preference pane, then the TCP/IP tab. Type something (anything, as long as it's unique) in the DHCP Client ID text box. Click OK, then Apply. Reopen the TCP/IP tab and click Renew DHCP lease.

  • Macbook Pro won't connect to wifi router

My laptop won't connect to my wifi at home when I go into my room. The wireless router is on the other end of the house and I know you'll probably say it's out of range, but i've been in the same room for 2 years and i've never had problem connecting it until up to a couple of weeks ago. Nothing has changed in the set up of the house, it just randomly stopped connecting. Can anyone suggest what may be wrong??
    Thanks.

It could be that one of your neighbors has added a router that's basically overpowering yours. Try logging into the router and changing the wireless channel.

  • Brand new macbook air won't connect to my wi-fi

Was really looking forward to no more Vista but have had to go back to the old laptop to ask this question.
I switched on the Macbook Air, followed the setup and waited for it to detect our wi-fi.  I selected it and entered the password but it cannot connect, and doesn't give a reason.  I tried several times and even disconnected my old laptop and reconnected to prove I was using the right password.
Our router is a Belkin_N1 and there's no setting on the MacBook to configure it, other than the password.  I've obviously done all the usual things like switching off and on again, making sure the right case was selected.
I've been Windows up till now but was expecting the Macbook Air to be as slick as my iphone.  Have I made a bad mistake, and how do I get some support for this issue?>

Thanks Xandris.  That was one of many steps we tried, and we're still offline
We spent 2 hours on the phone with Apple yesterday and there are still no resolutions.  We think they secretly believe our router is faulty or we are putting in the password incorrectly.
Last week we added a Canon printer to the network and after our call with Apple yesterday we gave up on the Macbook and set up our new Samsung TV, which also connected to the Router without problem  While on the call I deleted the router from the list in my iphone and reestablished it successfully.  The problem must rest with the macbook
Our next steps are to take it to our Apple solutions centre later today.  If they can't fix it we can get a new Macbook.
I'd booked out large chunks of my weekend to play with my new toy and get it up to speed with my life, so I'm feeling slightly deflated at the moment
