TS2354 Tinny sound in Nano 5

I suddenly got very tinny sound in car radio from Nano 5, only use it in car and always worked before. I reset twice and nothing changed. I had it attached to my laptop before the tinny sound, but no real idea of why it started this sound. Checked other posts and no real help there either.

This has nothing to do with MacBook Pro (so, it should have better been posted here), but first you should check the Equalizer settings in the Nano. Any funky settings there?

  • Tinny sound coming from hardware

Just recently my 2011 MBP has been randomly producing a quiet tinny sound along the lines of *tink*. It does it periodically and it's not very loud but it is definitely something new. The sound is not coming out of the speakers and volume settings have no affect on its occurrence.
    Any ideas?

    Hi G,
Check out the sounds in the following links:

It could also be the Sudden Motion Sensor.

  • X-Fi Fatality Pro High-Pitched Speaker Noise, No Sound or Tinny Sound Win

Hi all,?Perhaps this is premature but... I've had the X-Fi FPS for about three weeks now and everything was working fine until about a week ago. Here's the problem: Upon cold start of loading?XP there is either no sound and/or high-pitched noise coming from my 2. speakers, or just horrible tinny sound with the volume cranked. If I reboot, sound works perfectly. If I do another reboot, the sound will resort back to the noise/tin, etc. or perhaps it might be ok. Same issue with the?IO?card. I've reinstalled the drivers, but that didn't help the problem. Currently in PCI slot 3... I haven't moved it to 4 but will do so tonight and do a clean install of the software. I was cleaning out the dust from the internals and used a "Dust-Off" type product inside of the case...is it possible that the card "froze" and is now itself unstable? I've run the creative diagnostics and says everything is fine. Perahps it's just a system?issue. I plan on doing a full system wipeout and reinstall as well but wanted to see if?this situation is a known issue. -Dell XPS Gen 2-3.2ghz; 2gig Ram-ATI 9800XT (AGP, also takes up PCI slot )-Linksys Wireless G Network card (PCI slot 2)-X-Fi (PCI Slot 3)-Ultra Firewire card (PCI slot 4)-SATA HDs-LITE-ON? Does anyone face a similar problem?

  • Satellite C55-A-1N1 - lack of bass, tinny sound

Just got my new Toshiba laptop.
Anyone know if there is a fix to the sound issues with this model.
It has been widely reported this model suffers from lack of bass/ tinny sound but I have not yet found a solution.
I think DTS has something to do with it but not 100% sure,
Could it be something to do with the driver?

In the past some notebook owners have reported about the same issue with sound on several Toshiba notebooks although the fact that these notebooks and your Satellite C55-A have small standard stereo speakers only. Such speakers cannot offer some high quality sound like notebooks with build in harman/kardon speakers.
So there is nothing to fix or change. All you can do is to change sound settings on equaliser for player that you use. For better sound you can use either headphones or external speakers.
Sorry but there is not much you can do about it.

  • Tinny sound emitted from onboard speakers

Greetings Experts: the internal speakers on my dv6000 has changed to a very low volume-tinny sound. Troublshooting only leads me to the online forums. It sounds as tho the bass disappeared.
    This question was solved.

Well, after waiting a couple of hours for a reply, I went back into help and support and was able to resolve the sound issue by following the HP instruction for no audio with windows 7.
    Start
    Type in Sound
    Sound tab
    properties
There I found the bass was set at zero. Made the adjustments and now it's fine. How did it happen? Don't have any idea.

  • Iphone 5 earpiece has low, tinny sound now

Phone is nearly 2 years old. just updated to iOS 8.0.2 and now the earpiece volume is very low and "tinny" sounding.  Cannot figure any way that I can fix easily...

Hey partick, Did you get it sorted out in the end, Im also from the UK and the one plan beats the other networks hands down however im also getting this audio static sound during a call. I have had the phone replaced 3 times and all do it until i changed to 02 and then it stopped. So its the three network thats causing the interference.
Does anyone know of any workarounds as this is the only issue from a near perfect phone

  • My New Dv6 Notebook and its tinny sound

So, I bought this laptop less than three months ago, and the sound was amazing, though I didn't use it a lot, and I never had to turn it up all the way. Suddenly, yesterday, I turn my computer on, try to listen to some music, and my sound is tinny and I had to turn it up full blast to even hear the words in a song.
The sound has become tinny, barely audible, and it's really messing with my ability to enjoy the "beats audio" system it's supposed to be equiped with...can someone tell me what happened and if I can fix it?

Look at the bottom right corner of your screen.  Do you see a "Speaker" Icon?  If YES,  highlight it and press the right mouse button.  Than select your first choice, which should be "Open Volume Mixer".  Once there adjust your settings as desired..

  • Tinny-sounding music during slideshow playback on TV

I have created slide shows with special effects and music.  The shows play back perfectly on my imac, laptop, and ipad.  However, when I attempt to play the shows on my TV, some of the music sounds very tinny.  What causes this, and how can I remedy the problem?

If you want the visualizer to play druing the music just trun it on... be sure to set the tv screen up as the screen to use for iTunes.

  • No sound on Nano 3G

I just got a new Nano 3G a few days ago. Today I got no sound when I hooked the nano up to my cassette adapter. Hmmm. So I tried it at work with my headphones. No sound. Well I read a post here that says to press the center and menu buttons together. Yay! That worked. I wonder what was going on.

QuickTime expects video files with separate video and audio tracks, but many MPEG formats used a muxed (multiplexed) single track that contains both. Therefore, iTunes & the iPod (both of which use QuickTime) only show the video and no sound.
iPod plays video but not audio of some exported files

One way to work around this is to use MPEG Streamclip to convert the files to fix this issue...

  • Sound in nano not functioning properly...

If I wiggle the rca jack to my speakers a bit in the nano the sound will fade from stereo to just the left speaker back to stereo. Is anyone else having this problem?
    -Keith

I have a similar issue - the sound level is 4 times higher in the left ear - I checked back with itunes and did not record this out of balance. Maybe a problem with the machine

  • No sound on nano?

my nano appears to be playing but no sound comes out of the earphones. the volume control has no effect. have turned the nano on and off. checked the connection of the earphones. still no sound coming out.

This is going to sound dumb, but have you tried those same tracks on your computer? The songs themselves may be corrupt somehow. Maybe you could re-encode them and see what happens?

  • Sound on Nano 4G turned to lowest but still audible

I was on the train commuting to work this morning.
I turned the volume to zero on my 1 day old Silver 4G Nano, to hear the Rail company's latest excuse and I couldn't hear because the sound level of my Ipod was still audible.
I noticed that when you got to less than 5 % of the volume the level doesn't go any lower.
    Is this normal?
My old Ipod when turned to the lowest volume was inaudible. Why the change?

I have been searching for an alternative solution for this issue for the past few days now.
I contacted apple support and the tech that I spoke with didn’t understand what I was saying.
“When I turn the volume down all the way, I can still hear music”. All together this is what I went through with apple tech support -
Issue: Volume won’t turn all the way down
Product: Nano 4th gen 16gb - 1.0.2 PC (Up to date)
Itunes Version: 8.0.1 (Up to date)
    Analysis:
    - Software reset IPod – Didn’t fix issue
    - Hard reset iPod – Didn’t fix issue
    - Restored iPod from iTunes – Didn’t fix issue
    - Backed up library
    - Uninstalled / Reinstalled iTunes
    - Restored library– Didn’t fix issue
    - Set up product exchange
    - Tested new iPod– Didn’t fix issue
Resolution: This is a feature of all the iPods with the exception of the shuffle so you know the iPod is still on. If you want the volume turned all the way down then just pause the iPod.
My thoughts – This is crap. Is this is a “known feature” why would I have spent so much time trying to resolve the issue? I was without my iPod for about a week because I had to send it back and had to wait for a new one to come in. I have spent a number of hours with support trying to fix the problem and it’s a known feature?
I don’t like having the volume so loud at the lowest possible volume that my iPod can go. Don’t get me wrong, the volume isn’t terribly loud, about 5% or so, but at night with no other noise around I would consider it to be distracting. The last support agent that I spoke with recommended purchasing an inline volume control. What?
After all that I’m just irritated. I love my iPod, I love the screen, I use my iPod every day. I don’t want to get rid of it, I’m just frustrated that the volume at “level 1” is as loud as it is.
    Apple... Please, please fix this.

  • No sound from nano in dock or car

Hi guys, I need some advice.
I bought a 7th gen iPod nano for my wife to use in her car but I can't get any sound from it when it's plugged in (head unit shows display artwork etc and nano seems to be playing but no audio) Tried it on my Bose soundock 2 through a 30 pin to lightning connector, no sound. Soundock and her car play my classic perfectly. Tried the nano in my Fiesta Sportvan through the connector and my regular wire in the factory USB, played perfectly so no problem with the nano or the connector.
So my question is why will it play there ok but not in my Bose or in her focus which has a pioneer AVIC-F950DAB head unit with 30pin connector?
This has me stumped so any ideas would be appreciated. I have tried the standard resets etc with no luck.
    Thanks

Why won't my iPod play through my iPod speakers or car kit?

Was there some sort of software update to the 5th Gen.
All update notices will be seen on your computer as soon as you hook up your iPod to it.

  • Tinny sound after recording

I'm on a year-old iMac, and I just used Audio Hijack to record some streaming audio off the web. Now that I've saved that audio clip and closed the program, the entirety of my iMac's audio sounds tinny and low quality -- that includes iTunes, Quicktime, audio off the web (i.e. Apple Movie Trailers). I've tried closing and restarting all programs, and restarted my computer as well -- all to no avail.
Is there a setting in Leopard that could've been changed somehow using a third-party audio recording program? Thanks in advance...

I found this link about third party applications changing audio output settings:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2178?viewlocale=en_US
I went in, saw my external speakers had been set at 16000HZ. I changed them back to 44100HZ, reset my iTunes, and voila! Thanks for your response.
