Itunes wont open after updated software last night
iTunes wont open up on my Mac after I updated software last night
Hey there Nedswan,
It sounds like you are unable to open iTunes after it updated recently. I would check for 3rd party plugins that may have lost compatibility when the software was updated first:
iTunes: Troubleshooting issues with third-party iTunes plug-ins
http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3430
you can disable any third-party plug-ins by opening iTunes in Safe Mode:
OS X: Hold down Option-Command.
You should see this message before iTunes starts up: "iTunes is running in Safe Mode. Visual plug-ins you have installed have been temporarily disabled."
Note: This is different than Safe Boot or Safe Mode for Mac OS X. You may need to test both at the same time to isolate all third-party interference.
Click Continue and see if any issues persist. If your issues are resolved with iTunes running in Safe Mode, check the following:
Consult the vendor of any plug-ins you installed to see if they're compatible with your version of iTunes and check for any updates that may be available.
Close iTunes and move third-party add-ons to the Desktop to troubleshoot the behavior. iTunes stores these plug-ins and scripts in these locations:
Mac: /Users/username/Library/iTunes/iTunes Plug-ins/
/Library/iTunes/iTunes Plug-ins/
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

ITunes wont open after re-instaling win xp..
i just re-installed xp and itunes wont open now, shows this--iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
i tried removing quicktime and itunes and tried re-installing too...but wont help...
i downloaded the old ver 9.2.1.5 but it still wont work....
Pls help....
AppName: itunes.exe AppVer: 9.2.1.5 ModName: unknown
ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 6975515cI have wasted hours on this for the past few days, and this is what finally worked. I uninstalled both itunes and quicktime. I then reintalled itunes and quicktime, then uninstalled quicktime only. I then reinstalled quicktime standalone. For some reason it now works. I have no idea why this worked, but there had to be something strange going on with quicktime. I would try this before I got into the system and started deleting files, and turning things off. At one point I couldn't even restart my computer.....so don't go there. I am not happy that Apple does not come forward with more help, this is a real mess.

Itunes wont open after an update from Apple.
My Itunes was working fine 2 days ago untill there was an update for it, i installed the update and now my itunes wont open. I've uninstalled everything from Apple and reinstalled it but still itunes wont open. Any ideas what to do next please?
Many people have been having the same problems this week because of he update. Someone on the forum mentioned uninstalling "Bonjour". +Bonjour locates devices such as printers, other computers, and the services that those devices offer on a local network - Wikipedia.+ If you have never needed it uninstall it. You could also try typing "MSCONFIG" in the Run selection under the accessories folder and un-checking it under the "Services" tab.
I personally have had the same problems. What i did was i un-checked it on the MSCONFIG menu first and then uninstalled Bonjour.
Hope all this helps -
Itunes wont open after snow lep upgrade
upgraded to snow lep. went through all software updates rebooted multiple times. Itunes wont launch, when I double click it gives me an unexpextedly quit window, downloaded itunesx reinstalled....nothing...........so an apple app, doesnt play well with an apple os?
It is likely an issue with the iTunes Library file.
You can rebuild it by following this article:
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1451
If you rebuild the library, it should take care of the problem. I would make sure you have a Time Machine backup before starting any major task, just in case something wrong happens. Better safe, than sorry. -
HELP! ITunes wont open after Upgrade.
I upgraded the new version of ITunes our of stupidity and it ruined my life. Itunes now wont open. I have tried removing it and re-downloading. I have restarted it and tried everything possible that the support screens say. PLEASE HELP!
Well I don't know what "tried everything possible" means!
top fixes for a new iTunes install/upgrade are
- turning off security software such as Norton before the install as Apple suggests
- installing QuickTime standalone, not regular
http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/standalone.html
- setting up Norton to allow iTunes
- scanning for malware with ewido (Free at www.ewido.net/en/)
- last but not least, using MSCONFIG to find Windows conflicts

Error -3 / Itunes wont open after updated with Quicktime 7
I have been having problems with my Quicktimes for over a month. I was unale to take my son to his favortie websites. I was able to disable quicktime as a default, but now two things have happend. I can't open up Itunes, and now I can't hear any sound when I go to my son's favorite website. This happened a few days after I disabled it. I removed, and reinstalled Itunes, it wouldn't open, it said that I need to update. I updated it, and it still wont open. WhenI try to internal repair it it tells my error -3. Please help, I am about to lose my mind!
Thanks in advance

ipod mini Windows XPhi geraldo!
When I click change/remove in Add/Remove programs to try to uninstall my older QT the Installshield window momentarily flashes followed by no action.
good lord. a silent failure? that's a little odd.
... so let's check on some odd possibilities first.
check to see if you've got Windows Installer 3.1v2 on your PC. the easiest way to do that is to head to your Add/Remove programs control panel (don't remove anything ... we're just looking), and check to see if "(KB893803)" is showing up next to the entry for Windows Installer. if it is, you're fine. if not, see:
Windows Installer 3.1 v2 (3.1.4000.2435) is available
... let's also check on these possibilities (although the KB docs are about installs, they can apply to uninstalls too):
iTunes 5 and QuickTime 7 for Windows: Installation won't work if Cygwin is running
QuickTime for Windows: Uninstall QuickTime 3 or 4 before installing QuickTime 7
iTunes 5 and QuickTime 7: Can't install on a computer with Windows XP Service Pack 2 (Japanese)
if any of those seem to be relevant to your PC, does the QT uninstall go a bit better afterwards?

Itunes wont open after being reinstalled
I uninstalled Bonjour and my itunes told me that I needed to reinstall itunes; So I did but it wont open at all now. I have tried a lot of the methods mentioned on this site to get it working again but it still wont. My Quicktime is up to date as well.
http://www.techzonez.com/comments.php?shownews=15345
I have one solution for you.. I just also bought my Ipod VIdeo 60 GB 3 days ago and having problem with Quicktime 7.0.3.
Everytime I click on Itunes Icon on my desktop, it says you have older version of Quicktime 7.0.2, Itunes need 7.0.3 or later to be able to play Itunes, Please reinstall Itunes....I did reintalling adn uninstalling millions of times.. still it was the same problem.
Now what I recommend is to uninstall all Quicktime version and Itunes in your computer. Delete everytime you have... shutdown wait for couple of minutes and then go to the above site address I provided. Only download Quicktime alone. Do not download qiucktime and itunes together.. It is no good. And do not go to Apple site to download because it will download together.. That's not what we want. Download Quicktime 7.0.3 version for windows. After successful installation.. Only then Go to apple site and only download Itunes alone. This will work I guaranteed. Because mine is working now!!! Let me know the outcome.. Good luck!! -

ITunes wont open after upgrade install
Installed the upgrade for iTunes and now it wont open at all. Clicked on the icon, clicked long on the icon and chose open, and lastly tried to open from applications but I get nothing. Not even an error message. Just a blink of the screen. Please help! I have a iMac version 10.6.8
Don't touch your iTunes Music folder. All your iTunes data is stored there completely separate from your iTunes application. You can delete or reinstall your iTunes Application without affecting your data. However, you should be able to use iTunes 9.
iTunes 9 requires OS X 10.4.11 or later and a Mac computer with an Intel, PowerPC G5 or G4 processor.
It also needs QuickTime 7.6 or later. You can download it here: http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/
Note that there are separate versions for Leopard and Tiger. Pick the right one. -
My itunes wont open after i updated to windows 8

Hi eshylovesjiggy,
If you are having an issue with iTunes on your Windows machine, you may find the following article helpful (it is aimed at Windows 7, but the steps should be similar in Windows 8):

Itunes wont open after trying to install 11.1.4??
iTunes will not open after trying to install 11.1.4 version ??
Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall press on)
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

HT1923: Removing and reinstalling iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
