In order for a lost Mac or iPad to be located you have to have set 'Find My Mac/iPad' up on it before losing it, and it has to be on, not wiped, and able to connect to a network (how else could it transmit its location) - if any of these conditions is not true then locating it is not possible.

I'm looking for a program or app that I can sync though iCloud that will allow me to us all of these devices to track time spent on projects each day along with the ability to add specific information about each project. I recommend you consider Omnifocus. It is a task management program which runs on the Mac, Iphone & Ipad. I use it for task management and project management. It let's you store additional information as well. I sync all three devices through a Mobile Me account and I can enter data on any device and it is available on all devices. I believe you can also sync through Dropbox. I'm not sure that you can sync through iCloud yet. The link to their website is: www.omnigroup.com. There may be less expensive alternatives, but this one meets my needs and syncs very well across all devices.

I have a jetpack, and when I try to "connect" to my ipad or phone, it keeps telling me I am not using the correct password. I have tried everything. I even changed the password, nothing is working. Both are 4G, my ipad is an Air and my phone is a Iphone 5. I can get connected to other wifi on these features but not with my jetpack. Please help, I need to use this feature soon. Thank you so much
Chances are you mis-typed a character in the Wifi password and the devices saved that information. Now whenever you try to connect the device refers to the wrong password and the Jetpack does not accept your connection. Tell your devices to forget the wireless connection and start over.
Once you enter the proper WiFi credentials the Jetpack will allow you to connect. -
Installed Windows 8 on a late 2011 MacBook Air and was working fine now keyboard not working so cannot enter password? Caplocks key works but I am locked out on my own PC and cannot seem to get it to recognize built in keyboard,bluetooth,generic USB one.
Use the trackpad to scroll, thats what it was designed for. The scroll bars automatically disappear when not being used and will appear if you scroll up or down using the trackpad.
This is a user-to-user forum and most people will post on here if they have problems. You very rarely get people posting to say there update went smooth. The fact is the vast majority of Mountain Lion users will not be experiencing any major problems with the OS, or maybe with apps which are not compatible, but thats hardly Apple's fault if developers don't update their apps. -

Word processing for iOS is fantastic, but not as good for citations and things as on the macbook air, though footnotes will be preserved.
The new textbook options on ipad are compelling. You should find out if any of your school textbooks are on there by searching the itunes store. If so, ipad is your choice.
They are different categories of products. the macbook air is an excellent computer.
But I guess I feel this way -- why don't you buy a desktop for the home. and an ipad for school? If you feel you can get all of your notetaking, paper drafts etc. done on ipad, then you can use mountain lion (coming out this summer) to keep it all in sync when you go home.
I do have to warn you that I tried taking my ipad to work. If you use google docs at all, you may find some limitations sometimes. If you stick within the icloud universe, (pages, keynote, and numbers), you may be mostly happy. -

Its password is unrelated to the password you use for the email associated with it.
If you don't remember the Apple ID password, click the Reset your password link.

You cannot change your Apple ID to another one that is already in use - in this case, the one you created for your iPnone and iPad. Decide which Apple ID you want to keep. If you need to change it, change it - don't create a new one. -

how do i erase a corrupt contact list from iCloud,iPhone, iPad and MacBook Pro and restore Address Book backup to all devices and cloud?
I saved a corrected, most up to date version of my master Address Book Contacts as a back-up on my Mac Book Pro.
then in an effort to "simplify my life" i attempted to sync my I phone contacts - ( pre clean-up version) with my clean list on Mac Book Pro, New I pad and newly available icloud. DUH!! Using iTunes to do the sync caused the clean MacBOOK Pro list to be commingled with the dirty iphone contacts. amd now the whole mess is in the cloud.
I need to clear out the contaminated lists from all iplaces, and startover with Back-up on my macbook pro. BUT HOW???

KarenI had exported an address book backup: abbu
so since i wrote, i have found my way into the cloud: selected all entries - deleted them all from the cloud.
This wiped out contacts on my iphone and i pad, and MBP, as well as on the cloud. I then imported the abbu back into my now empty address book.
To repopulate the crowd, i selected all in my address book and created a single card vCard for export to my desktop. I then dragged that vcard into my empty cloud. Now my cloud has the same clean contacts as my MBP addressbook. The cloud then pushed the clean contacts into my empty ipad and iphone contacts.
I had to go back to Address Book>preferences>Accounts and Add an I cloud account - but if you accidentally create a second i cloud account - all of a sudden your address book will duplicate itself. I quickly reversed it by deleting one of the icloud accounts in my Address Book>preferences>Accounts.
I created a new entry on my MBP and it is now on all devices and in cloud
I also created a new entry on my iPhone and it is now in the address book on my MBP.
I feel empowered!!

New imac 27(Intel based,bought 2013) slow wifi connection with my Verizon fios actiontec router. All other wireless devices in the house(ipad 3gen,MacBook Air ,hp laptop) have a much faster connection. Should I change router settings to G only,switch channel from auto to maybe 6,channel width to 20mhz? Already changed security settings to WPA2. Currently router is running in mixed b and g mode.
If you have one computer running on G they will all run on G. All ROUTERS are backward compatible, in otherwords if you have a group of computers and all of them are N compatible and one or two are G They will all work but the N computers will run at N and those that are G will run at G speed not N.
It can get confusing but really it is simple. The newest is 802.11 AC and ic used with the newest Mac Computers made available in November 2013. So if you have the newest Airport Extreme that is 802.11ac and the newest computers that are AC compliant your speed will be 5 times faster than anything on the market right now. -

None can support "the Cloud". I use gmail and my iPhone and both computers are all synced.
I can't get email on my new iPad that does use "The Cloud".

I Downloaded hundreds of CDs to iTunes on a previous laptop and synced them with my iPad and classic ipod. We recently purchased a MacBook Air, and I started downloading more CDs to iTunes. When I went to sync my iPod, it removed all my old music and only included the music that I had just downloaded. When I went to my iTunes library, the old music was missing. The old music is still showing up on my iPad. How do I get it back into the library, or do I have to download everything again onto the MacBook air?

You will have to do more than simply changing settings in your moms account. To set up everything in your own account, go to Settings > iCloud > scroll down and press sign out. From this, check out this link for how to setup iCloud on all of your devices after making a new icloud account on your phone: https://www.apple.com/icloud/setup/
Before you set that up, you will have to make a new iCould account which you can simply do after you sign out of your mom's account on your devices.

Print>Save as PDF - uses Preview (part of OS X), so Adobe Reader should have no effect on that at all.
As to the "damaged file" error, simply uninstalling the Reader app won't affect it. Do the following:

Trash the AdobePDFViewer.plugin and AdobePDFViewerNPAPI.plugin files
Mac HD/Applications
Trash the Adobe Reader app
[user]/Library/Preferences
Trash the com.adobe.Reader.plist file
To access the [user]/Library, hold the "Option" key and click "Go" from the FInder menu.
Mac HD/Library/Application Support/Adobe
Trash the Reader folder (the whole folder)
Empty the Trash.

Quit your browser and reinstall Reader.
Launch it from the Applications folder and accept the license agreement.
You should have no problems downloading PDFs with Safari.
Unfortunately, ANY PDF that says it's damaged.... is. You'll have to trash them.
