TS2518 Aperture requests my serial number each time I open it

I recently upgraded my MacBook Pro and OS - it's now 10.7.5 - and my version of Aperture seems to be the latest version - 3.4.4  Now, every time I load Aperture, it demands my serial no., name, etc.  Is there a fix?  From skimming the Apple site, it seems that version 3.4.3 was supposed to correct this problem.
Thanks you.

Stanley,
just to be sure  - you looked in the System Library directly on your MacintoshHD and not in the Library in your Home folder?   And the ProApp System ID is missing?
Sometimes Aperture writes this file to a temporary directory, when it cannot write to the Library. If the above does not work, look at the temporary directory /tmp
Use the Finder's "Go" menu
Go > Got to folder    and  enter /tmp into the textfield. If you see the file there, move it to its proper location in /Library/Application Support/ProApps

  • Adobe lightroom asking for serial number each time I open it. Any suggestions?

I just downloaded Lightroom 5 and updated to 5.7 when prompted on completion of the process. I now have to input the serial number each time I open the programme. Is there any thing I can do, restarting the installation for example, to try and get round this problem?

I have the same thing happen to me. Every time I start Aperture, it asks for the license. Once I have entered the license key it lets me use the application. However, the next time I use the application again, i get the same problem. I have tried reinstalling the application, and am asked for the license key at the beginning of the install and again once the package is started. To no avail. And I get no other messages.
I called Apple Support, and after booking a call with a support person (a Genius?), I got one who, after reading the summary of my problem in the service request, said simply "this is for Aperture? Aperture is a Microsoft product, you have to call Microsoft". And that was that.
    Please, anyone have any ideas?

  • Aperture requires the serial number each time

I transferred all the data and apps from my old 24" iMac to my new 27". Now every time I start Aperture, it demands that I input the serial number again.

Pro Applications do not migrate well. The first thing to try would be to reinstall Aperture; then it should suffice to enter the serial number once more, from and administrator account.
You may have migrated an old ProAppSystemID file, that needs removing, check, if you still have an old file "ProAppsSystemID" in your System Library.
    Quit Aperture.
Go to your MacintoshHD and open the folder "Library", then "Application Support", then "ProApps".
Remove the File "ProAppsSystemID" to the Desktop, if it exist and restart Aperture.
Reenter your serial number, hopefully for the last time.

Aperture must be running, and you will have to wait a few minutes to be seeing the file appearing the /tmp directory.

  • Apple Remote Desktop Requiring Serial Number Each Time....

Apple Remote Desktop Admin has suddenly started asking for the serial number every time it is launched. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling - same thing. Last time this happened it required a full reimage of my Mac to get it to work again. This is getting a bit ridiculous. I am running ARA 3.2.2 and Mac OS X 10.5.6. FYI my uninstall was by the book as per Apple's documentation:
    rm -rf /var/db/RemoteManagement
    rm /Library/Preferences/com.apple.RemoteDesktop.plist
    rm ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.RemoteDesktop.plist
    rm -r /Library/Application Support/Apple/Remote Desktop/
    rm -r ~/Library/Application Support/Remote Desktop/
    rm -rf /Applications/Remote\ Desktop.app
Has anyone else had such a problem with the current version of ARD?
    Thanks.
    Macbook Pro 2.8 Ghz 4GB RAM 10.5.6

hd/Library/Preferences folder had read only privs for Amin user..
followed these instructions for my audiable.com issue, and it resolved my ARD problem!

  • When restarting Aperture 3 I have to sign in with serial number each time.

This seems like a new problem, only started happening recently.  Anyone else had this and know of a solution?

What did you do, before this started?
Did you install or upgrade? Did Aperture crash?
Which Aperture 3 version do you have? One of the recent updates had a bugfix for this problem in certain situations.
Are you entering the registration umber while signed in as an administrator? If not, try that.
Otherwise Aperture may have trouble to write the serial number to the system library.
A common problem preventing Aperture from storing the serial number is that occasionally the file /Library/Application Support/ProApps/ProApp System ID becomes corrupted.
Quit Aperture, remove this file from the System library, log off and on again and launch Aperture again. Enter the serial number. Does Aperture now remember the serial number?

  • Final Cut Studio asks for serial number EVERY time I open a program

I recently purchased Final Cut Studio 2, and every time I open a program (Motion, FCP, Compressor, etc.) it asks me to put in my name and serial number.
    What gives?

  • Final Cut asks for Serial Number every time I open it.

A couple months ago I upgraded to Final Cut Studio 2 on my iMac. Since then, every time I open up any applications I get prompted to type in my serial number. I've resulted to keeping my serial number on my desktop for easy access, but it's still really annoying. Any ideas?

This is just a thought...I don't know the answer from experience. Perhaps your user account doesn't have privileges to write the file to wherever FCS wants to store the Serial #. Once it's written on your computer, it's should work from any user account.
Does the user account you're entering the serial number from have administrative privileges? If not, then try logging into your administrator account (or temporarily give your user account the privileges) and enter the serial number there.

  • Lightroom5 asks for serial number every time I open.

  • I uses Time Machine to transfer files and program from old to new MacBook Pro. Aperture doesn't work. Every time I open Aperture the computer need me to key in Serial number. How do I fix it.

    Hi There,
I purchased a new MacBook Pro Retina 15". Since I am using MacBook Pro and I uses Time Machine for backup files and program. Store saleman tell me I can retore my existing program and files from old MacBook Pro to new MacBook Pro computer. After files transfer it seem to be OK. But only Aperture has a problem when every time I open Aperture to edit photos, MacBook Pro ask me to key in the Aperture Serial Number that made me so inconvinent. Did any one have meet this problem and can someone teach me how to fix it, Thanks.

Either the license files were not transferred or it has to be relicensed.
Remove and then re-install aperture. On an rMBP this should take only a couple of minutes.

  • Aperture is requesting a serial number, then won't take it.

All of sudden the application is requesting a serial number, when I type it in, I get a dialogue box indicating it is not valid. Any clue on what's happening?
This has just started after having my MacBook in for repair.

Look at this Troubleshooting Professional Application Serial Numbers
If that doesn't help go to /Library/Application Support/ProApps and look for a ProAppsSystemID file. Drag that to the desktop, restart Aperture and enter the serial number.
Post back if either of those two don't fix the problem.

  • Lightroom 4 (&4.1) requests my serial each time I open the software - help!!! (Mac Lion user)

When the LR4 beta came out, I downloaded it, having previously bought LR3. As soon as LR4 was available to buy, I bought the upgrade package from Adobe.com. But for the last 2 months, it is constantly asking me for the serial number every time I re-open the program. I have LR4.1 also installed on my older 2009 MacBookPro, and there is no serial issues there, but this is everytime on my 2011 iMac. I contacted Adobe and it was suggested to do two things:-
1 - Locate the cache.db file and rename it (such as cache.old.db or cache.db.ol) and then retry LR4. This didnt work.
2 - Create a new user with full administration priviledges, then uninstall and reintsall LR4. This didnt work either.
I am now at my wits end. I could of course leave the program open constantly, but the problem is that I always want to ensure I am competely backed up each time I walk away from the program, and this current problem doesnt really help the situation.
For what its worth, since I re-installed it, I now have to complete registration EVERY time or else the program will fail to open. The one thing I have noticed is that the serial input screen also says I have 23 days remaining on the trial(???) - and if I click on this option the program opens immediately.
    Help!!!
    Thanking you guys in advance.

Holy cow.  Victoria, if I could reach through the internet and give you a cupcake I would!  That worked!
It's amazing -- I sat on chat with customer support for 3 hours, and they weren't able to come up with the solution.  He had me creating new accounts, wiping out various directories, changing read and write permissions here and there, searching for non-existant files, and yes, repeatedly installing from disc and from download, and nothing worked.  I've been searching the internet up and down, and there are some really involved "solutions" out there for this problem.
Thanks for finallly guiding me to a solution!

  • Aperture 2 install - serial number problem

Disclaimer: I'm pretty good on a pc. Absolutely terrible on Mac, never had so many problems with tech :/
So...I have my serial number from the back of the Aperture 2 "Installing your software" booklet. Checked that I'm entering "I's" not "1's." Got dashed between the sequences. Capslock on etc. Searched forum, quite a few posts on serial number problems. None matched.
Enter serial number. Second window pops up stating I've entered an upgrade serial number (I only have the expired trial version of Aperture installed), and requesting my "serial number."
I'm lost now. Checked my original docs, there's nothing on Aperture trial version. Fired up the trial and I see what looks like a license key (to Apple, not me) on the launch screen. That's not accepted by Aperture 2.
    Any thoughts on this appreciated.

Thanks, think you solved this Wish the label said something like that, the box only says Aperture 2, not upgrade license. So I'm guessing I have to pay $199, and keep this $99 package to upgrade it? I hope not. I'll ask at the store.
There is a tiny label on the bottom edge of the box. Mine says "Aperture 2.0 Retail". The tiny label on my box for Final Cut Express 4 says "Final Cut Express 4.0 UPG". Does yours not say "UPG" on that little label? If not, you should be able to return it for the full version (plus pay the difference, of course). If it does say "UPG" you might be out of luck as most open software can't be returned.

  • Request for Serial Number when licensing CS6 package with CC

We're setting up our first batch of CC subscriptions for some new staff and to cater for some upgrades from CS5. However, we need to remain with CS6 likely for the rest of this year to maintain a consistent art pipeline.
If In understand correctly, I can use CCP to create and deploy only CC packages, while I need to use AAMEE to create the CS6 packages. Following: http://www.adobe.com/go/aamee_deploymentguide I created an unserialised, trial mode Flash Professional package and deployed this on a test system. At the same time, I invited a test user to our CC for Team subscription (under the VIP program) and assigned a live Flash Professional subscription to him.
The package deployed successfully (although it took an incredibly long time) and when started < i clicked the 'License this software' button. The user sioged in successfully with his newly created Adobe ID and was then asked for a serial number.  Since this is a CC subscription, I don't have a serial number to give him. I had assumed that the adobe ID was now associated with the license and the serial number would not be required.
How do I get past this stage when deploying this package to users? Is there some undocumented option or modification I need to make to the package?

Just to clarify this for anyone else that's reading:
The client-side AME is installed automatically with CS6 applications. It is this component that is failing to validate my CC subscription, causing the application to fall back to requesting a serial number.
After a telephone call with Abhijit, we discovered that installing the standalone CC desktop application, either before or after the CS6 package, allowed the subscription to be validated and the software activated. It seems like there's a significant bug there, or at least a lack of consideration for the possibility that clients might not have CCD installed. The workaround is just about satisfactory for my environment, but I think this could still cause trouble in some larger or educational setups.
A useful tip: The CCD installer downloadable here: https://ccmdls.adobe.com/AdobeProducts/KCCC/1/win32/CreativeCloudSet-Up.exe supports the same command line switches as msiexec, so although it's not readily deployable as an MSI, it does allow for unattended installation.

  • To request my serial number for Adobe After Effects to upgrade to 64bit system

I have AE cs6 and I need to upgrade to 64bit system.
How and where to request my serial number for Adobe After Effects to upgrade to a compatible 64-bit operating system? (because no customer service answered me)

    I don't understand your problem.
After Effects CS6 runs on 64 bit systems.  You use the same serial number you use on a 32 bit system.
If you want to upgrade to the CC subscription version, you can do so on the Adobe website.
What do you mean that no customer service answered you?  Did you speak to Adobe Support?  What did they say?
