I want to install final procut7 to my iMAC, but they not go though. The massge show on is "powerpc applicstions no longer support"

Final Cut 7 will run on your iMac under Mountain Lion. Take another look and see if the version is 6 or below... FCP 6 or 5.1 will run on your iMac but the installer is an powerPC app and will not run under Mountain Lion. Ask in the Final Cut Studio forum on how to install FCP 6/5.1 on your iMac.

Hi everybody,
my dead iMac is under repair. Now, I need to install Final Cut Express on a different machine but I don't understand if this is possible. I mean, at the end of the process the installer will ask me to register the product, but the product is yet registered. And i'm not going to torrent final cut studio... I bought the original sw!
Any suggestion?

Give up. Your computer's graphics system doesn't meet the requirements for Final Cut Pro 7 and cannot be upgraded to do so.

What is the best way to install iMovie6 to my new iMac that is on it's way...I read so much about how no one likes the new iMovie8. So should I use firewire and transfer it or should I use the disc? The reason I ask is because I have so many plugins in iMovie6 and it would be faster to use firewire. But then someone said it might knock out iMovie8. So another question would be should I rename iMovie6 before I transfer it to the new machine? Someone told me that adding iMovie6 to the new iMac may knock out iMove8.If I use the disc should I re-name iMovie8 first? Or would it be better to use the iLife6 disc to the new machine.

Ellyn, while both of the previous solutions offered would get you iMovie 06 on your computer, they wouldn't get you all of your plug ins, and other documents currently on your existing mac.
When your new computer arrives, and before you start it up the first time, position it next to you existing mac. Connect the two with a firewire cable. Restart your old mac while holding down the T key. This will eventually produce a firewire logo on the screen of your old mac. When you see the logo you can let go of the T key. You haven't hurt your old mac or lost any info. You're starting it in TARGET mode to allow the new computer to transfer all of your old files when you boot it for the first time.
Now you can turn on your new iMac. It will go through a start up process and will ask you if you want to copy your old files from an existing mac. Click yes (or ok) and there ya go. It will take about 15 minutes to copy your files over, maybe longer if you have a lot.
But all of your existing software installs, documents, passwords, layout, and desktop preferences will be copied over. You can then set it up differently if you like.
This way, all of your plug ins, and you're existing iMovie preferences will transfer and be ready to go with your new computer.

Are you using one of the newer iMac's with no DVD drive? If so, you can either get an external CD/DVD drive (any make - doesn't have to be Apple) or, if you have another Mac on the same network that has a CD/DVD drive you may be able to do it by turning on 'DVD or CD Sharing' on that Mac (System Preferences>Sharing). Hopefully you'll see the disk on the Mac without the DVD drive and be able to install from there.

Miradouro you can copy the files on a computer which does have an optical drive to a USB drive. You can then install from the USB drive.
Alternately you can download a fresh copy of the installation files at Download CS6 products.

You can't. iMac's cannot be serviced by the user.
You can send it off to have it done, or perhaps Apple will do it, but you don't get what you want and you pay a lot.
Also you can have only 1 internal storage and the 7,200 RPM is fast enough for that older model, you won't see much of a difference with SSD as you don't have the SATA for it.
Rather backup your files off the machine, Zero Erase your drive and reinstall 10.6 fresh, it will be fast again if you keep your drive below 50% and not more than 75% filled.
another method is to clone, then option boot off the clone, erase with Zero and then reverse clone,

I've been using FCP ever since 2001, done countless updates over the past 8 years, and never had a problem opening a file created in an earlier version of FCP. I don't know a thing about programming, but I'm sure it's correct to say that updates do not touch FCP project files, so your files should be okay.
I'm not sure why Neil directed you to the upgrade page. Easier for me is to simply click on the apple in the upper left of the monitor and scroll down to *Software Update...* Give that a try.
Have you gone to your FCP Auto Save folder and tried to open an earlier version of the project file you need? It could be the latest version of your project file got corrupted, but an earlier version is ok.
Or, maybe the FCP preferences file is corrupted. If you're not familiar with how to delete those preferences, do a search for "trash preferences" in this forum. It comes up often.
If that doesn't work, you might have to reinstall FCP from scratch, then update as needed. Before reinstalling, you'll need to remove the current FCP app. FCS Remover will do the work for you.

I installed a developer version of Lion. Now I want to buy the final version in the App Store. But Lion is reported to be 'installed'. So how do I do a force install, short of starting over and installing Snow Leopard first?

Which dev Lion version do you have. I haven't yet heard a definitive statement on the issue. The previous definitive statement doesn't seem very definitive anymore. I would sit tight for now.
