TS2529 how to deauthorize a dead computer

My primary computer that I synced my iphone to completely died.  I got a new computer and now when I try to set up everything on that computer I get an error message saying that I need to deauthorize one computer to add this one.  Since the old one is completely dead, how do I deauthorize it?

Use the Deauthorize All command documented in this article.

  • How to deauthorize a fried computer?

I'm a longtime Mac user - recently, my iBook took a dive and the logic board is fried. We went out and purchased not one, but two new computers to add to our network - alas, I can't deauthorize the dead laptop for obvious reasons, so that I can activate my purchased iTunes on the new computer because now there are more than five on my account.
Any idea how to deauthorize a dead computer so we can get this new iMac up and running with Tunes?

If you've reached five total authorizations, log into your iTunes Store account. A button will appear in your iTunes Store account that will allow you to deauthorize all your systems so that you can reauthorize the ones you have working.

  • HT1329 I have a dead computer with itunes on it.  How do I deauthorize a dead computer?

How do you deauthorize a dead computer for itunes?  We only get 5 computers, and I need a new computer to be authorized for itunes.

If you've got 5 computers authorised for the account in question, and you need to free up authorizations, I'd do a "Deauthorize All" from one of the computers you have access to, and then reauthorize the computers you have access to.

  • HT1420 How do I deauthorize a dead computer

As I said, how do I deauthorize a dead computer?

Expanding on what Niel said, you cannot yourself deauthorize a computer that's not working or to which you no longer have access. You can authorize a total of up to five systems, so it's probably not really important that you deauthorize your dead unit now. Once you reach five total authorizations, a button will appear in your iTunes Store account that will allow you to deauthorize all your systems, so that would at that time recover the now-useless authorization.
If for some reason you really feel you need to deauthorize that system now, you can try contacting  the iTunes Store customer support department through their Contact form (follow the on-screen instructions)  and explaining the problem to them. They might be willing to clear your authorizations for you.
    Regards.

  • HT1727 How do I deauthorize a dead computer

How Do I deathorize a dead computer and transfer my old itunes library to a used computer.

There is no need to deauthorize unless you've reached the 5 computer max.  If you have reached that max, deauthorze all computers and then authorize the one's you actually have.
As for moving the library, use the backup of the computer to move all the content to the new computer.

I no longer own 5 past computers. I need to deauthorize 5 past computers so I can authorize new computer. How can I accomplish this?

If you no longer have, or access to, the computer(s) you want to deauthorise,
Log in to iTunes,  go to "view your account info" on the itunes store, deauthorise all five,
(Please Note: this can only be done Once every 12 months)
Then re-authorize your current Computer(s) one at a time..

  • Deauthorizing a dead computer. Anyone know how. I cant find instructions on Help

I cant find instructions on how to deauthorize a dead computer. Old Laptop pooped out and couldnt rebuild so replaced it.

    It is possible.......
You can de-authorize individual computers, but only by using those computers. Otherwise you can "deauthorize all" from your iTunes account.  Then you must re-authorize the exisiting computers individually.
    Open iTunes on a computer
From the Store menu, select "View my Account..."
Sign in with your Apple ID and password.
Under "Computer Authorizations" select "Deauthorize All".
Authorize each computer you still have, as you may require.
See How to Authorize or Deauthorize iTunes | PCWorld for Windows.

  • How do i deauthorize a defunced computer

How do i deauthorize a dead computer after using the "deauthorize all" button withing 12 months?

Ask the iTunes Store staff to do it. What you can do on your own is limited to reduce the possibility of abusing the remote deauthorization functionality.

  • HT1206 how can I deauthorize a dead machine or one I cannot access?

The computer literally failed before I could deuath anything.  I apparently have 1 more authorization left.
I had authorized a work machine a few years back, but IT took it and scrubbed it or junked it.
Why don't users see a list and just select from there?

There is no list, nor is there a need or a way to deauthorize the dead computer, until you reach the limit of 5.
At that point you can deauthorize all, then authotrize the active computers.

  • How to "deauthorize all computers" in iTunes?

A computer has died I am attempting to deauthorize all computers in iTunes in order to remove it from the authorized computer list.  However, none of the other "authorized" computers display the "Deauthorize All Computers" option on the "Store" menu in iTunes.  I am running ITunes 12.0.1.26.  Why is the "Deauthorize All Computers" not being displayed and how do I deauthorize the dead computer without it?

launch iTunes and sign in then go to your accounts settings.

  • Deauthorizing a dead computer (pc)

    Here's my situation:
I spilled a cup of coffee of my old laptop, which is authorized for ITune.
That computer is dead and gone (RIP). I have a new laptop and installed Itune and can't get my music bought in the past. How can I deauthorize the dead computer and so I can authorize my new laptop. And I have less than 5 authorization, so the whole deauthorize all option is not a solution. From reading on the net, sounds like I have to have Apple deauthorize the dead computer right? And what's Apple's number or email for me to get them to do the deauthorization.. Thanks

I have 7 machines that I use, all weekly, in different locations. The maximum number of authorized PCs you can have and the fact that you can't de-authorize more than once a year have made it so I only use iTunes to organize my music.
I keep everything I own in non-protected lossless MP3 format. I have heard you can change an ID in XML file for iTunes to trick it into letting you exceed the limit, but you won't be able to play new downloads from iTunes, which I don't care about, because I've stopped buying from them because of how this issue affected me in the past.
It's covered in iLounge.com's article about moving your iTunes library.
