Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

    ios6 with wifi problems

I am just updated my iphone 4 to ios6 and on Sunday it took FIVE times to update. My phone kept freezing up on me. Finally, on the fifth try I was able to get it back. I lost everything on it. Last night I checked my wifi and noticed that it was not holding the wifi password in my own home. Without the ios6 it was fine! Everytime I want to use wifi I have to enter my password. This is extremely inconvenient. Today I checked my data usage with AT&T. I am on limited 200 mb data plan per month. Today is the first day of the month for my plan. So my data begins at zero again on the first day of the new month. I checked my data usage today, and I used 17.3 mb of data in 12 hours! Because I can not use wifi! I am in the fight of my life with Apple. I want them to fix the solution NOW or they send me a new phone....no charge. Those with problems like this should spend the time to fight with them too. They are crooks! Don't let them charge for phone support either. They will rip you off.

Since updating to iOS6 my wifi has not been able to connect properly.  Has this been a problem for anyone else?

i have a iphone 4 and had a similar problem with the upgrade, I went into settings, general, cellular, and turned off icloud documents, passbook updates and reading list and it corrected my problems

  • Where is iOS6's WiFi + Cellular option?

I had my iPhone 4S upgraded to iOS6 two days ago, right after the new OS was out.
One feature I really expected for iOS6 was WiFi + Cellular option, which allows the device to automatically switch to 3G when connected WiFi signal is weak.
However, I cannot find it nowhere. Settings → General → Cellular should show me the option according to blogs I read, but mine doesn't have a such option.
Is it up to carrier, just like FaceTime or WiFi Hotspot?
I live in South Korea, and my carrier is KT. Is this feature available among US residents for now?

This worked great in the beta, but got yanked in the final release. No idea why. I just hope it gets re-added in 6.0.1

  • Since updating my iPad and iPhone to the new software iOS6, my wifi has not been working properly I'm either getting a very week signal or the signal is dropping completely,

  • Downloaded Update to iOS6 via wifi, now it says I have to connect to iTunes. Why?

I downloaded the update to iOS6 via wifi, now it says I have to connect to iTunes. Why? From all of the articles and blogs I have read it should have updated without a hitch.
    Anyone else have this problem?

I'm not trying to be a smart A**. Is this a case of "misery loves company"? Will it make you feel better if someone else had issues? Do what you want to do.
Sometimes things happen when you update software. That is why you are always supposed to backup. Others have had issues - just look around.

  • IOS6 Makes WIFI drop constantly!

iOS6 Makes WIFI drop constantly on my iphone! How can I fix this? Thanks to your new sloppy OS6, I should never of updated! The maps is a mess as well.

I was not aware I was treating someone badly, merely showing frustration on paying so much money on equipment, should definitely have quality associated with it. Saying “Thanks to your new sloppy OS6, I should never of updated!” refers to apple developers and their QA testing team for allowing a release with two big fall-backs. As well as a mistake I made by updating. I will make sure not to start my post off irritated (see the correct spelling) and hostile so I can get as much as possible. Next time I will send out a bunch of flowers, some bunnies and unicorns jumping out of rainbows. Where everyone can hug each other and sing along on the word messiness, maps and Wi-Fi. Doing that, I presume the “much” I would accumulate would be more than a link to the apple feedback service and I will get an iOS dedicated to me with my own link as well.
I will gladly redirect myself to: www.apple.com/feedback/ that was probably the only thing you had to post. Except if you will provide me with the “much” and a new IOS, then I will send some flowers, bunnies and Unicorns immediately.

  • After i updated to IOS6 my wife and i keep getting each others imessages.

after i updated to IOS6 my wife and i keep getting each others imessages.

This is caused by using the same Apple ID for iMessage.  To prevent this you need to use separate IDs.  (You can continue to use the same ID for purchasing; it does not need to be the same as the one used for other services such as iMessage.)
On the phone that will be changing, go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive, tap the Apple ID at the top, sign out, sign back in with a different ID.

  • Can i backgrade my iphone 4s from ios6.0.1 to ios6? - Wifi is greyed out and will not switch on, tried factory reset but keeps restoring to ios6.0.1, please release ios6.0.2 ASAP apple!

So yeah I recently upgraded to iOS 6 fine no problems, a few bugs here and there regarding txt shortcuts not working when imessages switches back to sms when loosing 3g but nothing major.
Then a few weeks ago I updated to iOS 6.0.1 as I thought maybe a few bugs would be fixed.  I backed up my phone (for the first time with iTunes).  Then after the 6.0.1 update I had (as it seems a lot people have had) a problem with the wifi not switching on and being dimmed out.  I tried various "reset the phone" "reset the network settings" options that people have put on these support forums.  So my last option was to reset the phone to factory settings- I did this two times, firstly reseting it to factory settings and restoring it to the back up, then reseting to factory settings and setting the phone up as new.  After doing this second reset my phone did not go back to iOS 5 (which is factory settings) but iOS 6.0.1 and I still have the same Wifi problem.
Apple- please release 6.0.2 ASAP, this bug is costing me ton of 3g data as I use my iPhone regularly for work and use it at home all the time.
Is there anyway I can back grade to ios5 or ios6?
    PLEASE HELP!!
    thanks
    Martyn

Ok after reading a few posts I relalise you can not down grade os on iphones and never have been able to.
But how come I can't factory reset my phone properly? sure factory reset will mean it will reset the phone and its os to the os that it built with with was ios5?

  • Installed iOS6 and wifi no longer connects

I have an iphone 4S and I installed iOS6 and i have now fond I can no longer connect to wifi networks. My first attempt to fix was to use reset network settings but this has not helped at all.
Is ther a bug or a does someone know of a fix?

Turn off your iPhone completely (hold sleep button until the power off slider shows up and turn off the phone)
Hold the sleep and home button simultaneously for 10 seconds or so and then release the sleep button while still holding in the home button. This will put your iPhone into recovery mode.
If you haven't already, download the older version of the firmware. Go to this website and download the firmware that is right for your iPhone. When you go to this site, make sure that you download the correct firmware for your 2g iPhone or 3g iPhone. http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=750
Now connect your iPhone to your computer and open iTunes. iTunes will detect that your iphone is in recovery mode and tell you that you need to restore it. If you are using a Mac you need to hold down the option button and click restore, if you are using a Windows PC hold down the shift button and click restore. This will allow you to choose the firmware file you want to restore to. So when it asks to choose the firmware, browse to the firmware you downloaded from above and it should restore to that version of the firmware.
Let us know how this works for you. If this method doesn't work either, then I would say it is definitely a hardware problem, even though it already sounds like a hardware problem.

  • Streaming in iOS6 disables wifi

Since iOS 6 "upgrade," my iPad (3rd gen) acknowledges and connects to wifi. I can surf the web, but if I try to stream anything, YouTube, Netflix, etc... It works for anywhere between thirty seconds and two minutes, but then the wifi shuts off.  I have to go into the settings and turn the wifi off and on again and reconnect to my home network again for it to get back online.  Worked fine before the upgrade, I know it has something to do with iOS6.  Stop living in denial Cupertino!
And speaking of YouTube, no YouTube app for the iPad?  How lame is that?  I love how you put your customers in the middle of your disputes with other companies.

    I found a solution!
This problem appears to be unique to the iPad 3.
The first step is the most important.
    1. Make all Wifi devices "forget" network.
    2. Change wifi encryption to TKIP ONLY. AES and auto will kick you off after a short time.
    3. Save and reset router.
    4. Reconnect all devices.
iPad will stop being disconnected after a flood of data.
If you talk to apple they'll tell you to to change encryption to AES.  This is the opposite of what you should do.

  • I just installed IOS6 and wifi connection get lost

After installation of ios6 wifi connection is not stable pop up the alogin page to apple.com with an error message of wrong address. This happen on my ipad 3 and iphone 4s both devices.

Try going to settings-general-reset and then reset all settings. You can also try to reboot your phone/ipad hold the power and home button together for ten seconds until the Apple logo shows up on screen.

  • After iOS6 upgrade - Wifi won't connect to my Ipod Touch!

I keep getting the circle thingy by my home Wifi connection... as if it's thinking. It never gives me an error and I let it think for about 10 mins. .... just around and around and around the circle goes......
    any help?

Same deal here.  Also, Windows isn't recognizing it as an iPod with apple drivers, but some old MS ones from 2006.  When I try to load in the drivers using the .inf file, it says its incompatable.
Might be an issue with iTunes 10.7 perhaps and not the iPod Touch 4 itself?  Of course, iTunes does recognize the New iPad just fine, so, take that as you will.
Either way, it needs to get fixed.
