TS2570 I've tried everything here...

Hello! I've tried everything here, but when I turn my Mac Mini on it still goes to the gray screen with a loading wheel, then after 1-2 minutes it shuts its self off. Its running OS X 10.5.8. Anybody have any ideas about what I can do?

Hi Sam, sounds like serious Hard Drive problems.
Does it boot to Single User Mode, CMD+s keys at bootup, if so try...
/sbin/fsck -fy
Repeat until it shows no errors fixed.
(Space between fsck AND -fy important).
Resolve startup issues and perform disk maintenance with Disk Utility and fsck...

Are all of your apps updated to the latest versions? i.e., QuickTime, Imovie, iTunes, iDVD, etc?
Any third party plug-ins? Is this actually install on internal Hard Drive- not external?

Built in iSight Not working- tried everything here so far?

I'm having the "Camera in use by another app" error with my built in iSight on a dual core Macbook Pro. My cam worked in 10.5, but I started getting the error with the 10.5.1 upgrade. Photobooth and Quicktime both can access the camera fine.
Per Apple Tech Support's recommendations, I've uninstalled and reinstalled iChat, zapped PRAM and SMC, trashed various prefs and generally done everything but revert back to 10.5. Tried the ecamm software. Now both Apple Tech Support and I are stumped...

If you have tried all of those and it does not appear in the Apple System Profiler then it is time for....
Shut any Airport Card.
Shut Computer down.
If Ethenet disconnect on end from computer of modem.
Restart Comouter with no internet connection
Restart iChat
Reconnect internet
Log into AIM
Do you have a camera now ?

ITunes not connecting to store - tried everything - here are my diagnostics

I have looked through this forum to find answers as to why my iTunes 10 wasn't connecting to the store. So I uninstalled and installed older version.

HT1925 I have tried everything here and iTunes still won't open.I now get the message, The file "iTunes Library.itl" cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes.

Recently I have not been able to open iTunes,I tried removing and reinstalling it but still won't open. I now get the message The file "iTunes Library.itl cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes. Any suggestions on how to get iTunes to work again ?

Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!

TS1363 I'vw tried everything here multiple times, anyone have any luck with another non-apple generated solution?

Any time I try to connect to itunes, windows recognizes the ipod, but it never comes up in itunes. When the bubble for "trust" or "dont trust" comes up, I tap trust. Then I hear the window sound for disconnecting something from a usb port. I tried all the apple solutions, nothing helped at all. Anyone have any ideas? I tried full restoring the ipod too, and now I've got an empty ipod that I cant connect to itunes....fantastic...

After having communicated with Bose extensively over the last two months I'm pretty sure there is no solution to this. Bose are not the only phones that exhibit this, but there are only a handful that do and they all support multi-link technology in BT 4.0. One theory is that in searching for other devices to link is what causes the skipping, but in none of these is there an option to turn off multi-link (which might be the solution).
The good news is that CES has introduced a TON of new BT headphones, and we'll see these come to market this spring. One or more of them may well work for folks (for audiophiles the best looking one so far is Sennhesier's Momentum series, already a respected model among wired sets, the BT version is getting excellent early reviews. But pricey). Unless you need something immediately my advice would be to wait a few months and see what comes out.
You are correct that Powerbeats have sync issues -- sync issues are common with bluetooth but some makers do better than others. My portable BT receivers, for example, have excellent sync across all apps. But as I noted above, this isn't a good solution for those on the go (pairing a portable BT receiver with otherwise wired phones -- although if folks are interested my new favorite is the Fidelio X2/27 model with these. Truly audiophile level sound, at a reasonable price. But not something I'd take out of the house :>).

Airport express instructions useless, tried everything here.

Believe me after 7 hours I have read everything. The instructions on page after page after page do not show the same optional they're all out of date and don't work.
All I did was change from Talktalk to Plusnet. Still works fine. Then added another aiport express. Please do NOT answer if you don't have the exact same set up because well meaning advice has already cost me these 7 hours, and the advice does conflict - join, create, extend, base station etc.
I have a router, the old talktalk one with two ethernet ports in the back.
Ethernet cable from that to the airport express.
Turned off the AP, stick pin into reset, turned it back on, amber lights flicker, take pin out.
Comes up as "other device".
Went through the procedure. It happily joins the network I set up on the Talktalk router.
At this point the router throws a fit, the light on the front for the ethernet port (1) flickers madly and the internet is disconnected.
somi unplug the ethernet from the router and plug it back in and again it just flickers endlessly (the illuminated '1’ on the front of the router).
Doesnt work and all is different in the MacBook version of Airport Utility, doesnt even show the same configuration and always gets through the procedure before announcing 'unexpected error'.
I will post this now as no doubt the internet will be disconnected by the AP soon.
and come to that why is it almost impossible to type in this box on an ipad?

A wireless bridge may be required to share the single IP across multiple AE or AX units.
Could there be a problem with the main access point now? Can you get a replacement
from the internet provider, hopefully at no charge, to test this part of your setup?
Used to be the way to use an AirPort Express for that kind of purpose, was to add it to
an AirPort Extreme; as that gave you more options to expand a network as well as to
be able to extend one across several AirPort Extremes; as a transceiver relays signals.
Some brands don't play well together; usually lower quality internet provider gear acts up.
Doubtful if may users who see this thread would have the gear you are using; the IP set
sounds dodgy. (I also have an old Dodge, so I can use that term liberally.)
Sorry, I guess I can't really help; for the most part mine just works. Did so with ADSL & now
with a different IP cable modem, via Ethernet cable. Cable seems 2x slower, rated 6x faster.
And most of my gear is older than the current level; though I bought spares, they're unused.

IMac really stuck at grey screen - tried everything

everytime I try to boot my iMac it gets stuck at the first grey screen. No logo, no loader, nothing but a grey screen.
I have tried everything here > http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2570 > with no results. The grey screen remains there, with no changes.
The only thing that seems to work, but only for a seconds, is holding the option (alt) key at startup. After a few seconds, the pointer of the mouse appears. And then, a few seconds later, it gets stuck too. That's the farthest I've managed to get.
I can insert and get install DVDs back, but they don't seem to load.
I've tried also DiskWarrior, with the same results.
Any ideas?

Hey jflam sorry to hear that. I know how frustrating that can be. One thing that the article doesn't mention that I'd try is repairing the disk from single user mode.
Boot to single user mode by holding down command-S at startup.
-If it works right it should take you to a black screen w/ white letters.
-Then just follow the steps in from this website. http://homepage.mac.com/geerlingguy/mac_support/mac_help/pages/0009-fsck_su_disk _repair.html
-Make sure if it tells you the disk has been modified that you repeat the command.
-If it says it's ok or if you can't boot to single user mode then it sounds like a hardware problem. You'd have to take the computer into an Apple Retail Store or Authorized Apple Service Provider to get your options on how to fix it.

Try reformatting it on a Mac using Disk Utiltity.
Otherwise, I assume you have tried everything here?

It could be an indication or a damaged or dying hard drive. I would recommend doing a disk diagnostic on the iPod's HD using the instructions given by turingtest2 in this older thread. He also covers what the resulting numbers indicate.

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.

Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

What cloud service or contact manager was she syncing them to? They should still be there and she should be able to sync them back. If she was not doing so, they are gone.

Are you using the 32 or 64 bit version of iTunes. Also, double check to ensure you are running an x64 version of Windows. If you are running 64-bit Windows and 64-bit iTunes, it should work, but try the 32-bit one. If you are running x64 Windows and 32-bit iTunes, again, it should work, but try the 64-bit. If you are running x86 (32-bit) Windows, you will need to run the 32-bit version of iTunes.
