  • How do I delete duplicate songs on my iPod that do not appear in my iTunes?

I recently had an interrupted iTunes update that really messed up my iPod Touch. I had to restore it to "factory settings" (it has since been running a lot slower than it was before) and it duplicated over half of my songs, which takes up a significant amount of my storage. Today I tried un-selecting all of my songs in my iTunes Library in hopes of also removing the duplicates, but no such luck - everything was removed from my iPod EXCEPT the duplicates, and as far as can I see there's no way of deleting the extras from my actual iPod.
I've tried everything I could think of. I even selected "Music" under my iTunes Library, "View", and "Show Duplicate Items". However, not even a single one of the "duplicate" items on this list are the duplicated songs that're stuck on my iPod.
It's incredibly frustrating and I'm at a loss here. I'm afraid now if I manually go through my list to re-sync all the songs except the duplicate items that it'll just re-duplicate them or something. I can't believe just clicking "yes" on a simple update could reak so much havoc on this little thing.
Any help is greatly appreciated, the nearest Apple store to me is over an hour drive away and I really don't feel like wasting the gas if the solution is fairly simple.
    Please help & thank you!

"i want to know will yamipod copy everything to my itunes from my ipod like playlists and the name of the ipod , settings etc"
Yamipod copies music (including playlist). Your settings are stored on the iPod and will not change. That includes the name you gave it which should show up in iTunes whenever you connect the iPod.
Yamipod does not transfer play-counts, ratings etc.

  • How do I use a song stored in ipod on my iPhone 4 as a ring tone

How do I use a song stored in ipod on my iPhone 4 as a ring tone

You need to use an App like Ringtone Maker or Ringtone Wizard Pro for that.
Or, what I do is to make my own ringtones with music I have in my computer and then sync them to my iPhone following this steps:
    Open iTunes.
Find the song that you want to make into a ringtone.
Listen to the song and find the part of it you want to use. The chorus may be a good place to start.
Write down the start and stop times of the clip.
Right-click the song and select "Get Info."
    Click the "Options" tab.
Type in the start time of your ringtone in the text box next to "Start Time" in the minutes:seconds (i.e., 2:01) format.
Type in the end time of your ringtone in the text box next to "Stop Time." Make sure the ringtone is no more than 30 seconds long.
    Click "OK."
Right-click your song again and select "Convert Selection to AAC." Wait for iTunes to convert your song. It will create a duplicate version.
Right-click the ringtone and select "Delete."
Click on the "Keep Files" button.
Find the file. It's usually in your User folder under "Music > iTunes > iTunes Music" and under the band's name. It will have an extension of m4a.
Replace the m4a extension of your ringtone with m4r. You can either double-click slowly to rename your file, or right-click and select "Get Info" on a Mac or "Rename" on a Windows PC.
Click "Use .m4r" or the PC equivalent when the system warns you that the change may affect the use of your file.
Double-click the ringtone file. ITunes will automatically add it to your ringtones folder in your iTunes Music Library.
Connect your iPhone and sync your ringtones.
    Hope this was helpful

  • HT1329 How can I get the songs on my iPod onto my new iTunes library?

I have an iPod that was synced to another iTunes library on another PC.  The PC died and I replaced it with a MacBook Pro but it keeps saying the iPod is synced w/ another iTunes library.  How can I get the songs on my iPod on the new iTunes library?

Some of the information below has subsequently appeared in a document by turingtest2: Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device - https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991
Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was planned with you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchases which can be transferred to a computer.
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848 - only purchases from iTunes Store
For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will have to use third party commercial software. Examples (check the web for others; this is not an exhaustive listing, nor do I have any idea if they are any good):

How do I transfer the songs from my desktop to my iPad using the same iTunes account? I can only sync the other way. Thanks

    DaisyDoodle,
The songs on your Shuffle should still be in your iTunes library.  That means you should just be able to connect your Nano to the same iTunes library and sync it just as you would with your Shuffle. There is no limit to the number of iPods, iPads, or iPhones you can sync to one computer, iTunes library, or account.
As for preparing the Shuffle for your husband, just restore it via iTunes and then let him sync it to his own iTunes library or if its the same iTunes library, let him configure it to sync only his content.
Here are instructions on how to restore the Shuffle if need be.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync/delete all music and resync
To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music

  • How do I get the songs on my ipod to a new installation of ITunes

I keep Itunes on my corporate PC and I just received a new PC after the old one crashed. I installed ITunes and connected my IPod Nano and was saw a window that indicated my Ipod was linked to a different library and I would like to change. It would seem that I would lose all of my stuff if I answered yes. How do i get my Ipod in sync with the new installed Itunes?
    Thanks!

t would seem that I would lose all of my stuff if I answered yes.
    \Correct.
It is in sync with your previous computer.
How do i get my Ipod in sync with the new installed Itunes?
The correct answer to your question is to plug in the iPod and select yes.
It will sync your iPod with your new library which contains nothing.
Sync between iPod and iTunes is one way. Computer to iPod.
The question you really want to ask is, “how do I get the songs off my iPod onto my computer?”
    Go to www.yamipod.com.
This will allow you to get everything of the iPod and into iTunes.

  • How do i remove duplicate songs on my ipod and in my library

how do i remove duplicate songs on my ipod and in my library

Apple's official advice on duplicates is here: Find and remove duplicate items in your iTunes library. It is a manual process and the article fails to explain some of the potential pitfalls such as lost ratings and playlist membership, or that sometimes the same file can be represented by multiple entries in the library and that deleting one and recycling the file will break the other.
Use Shift > View > Show Exact Duplicate Items to display duplicates as this is normally a more useful selection. You need to manually select all but one of each group to remove. Sorting the list by Date Added may make it easier to select the appropriate tracks, however this works best when performed immediately after the dupes have been created.  If you have multiple entries in iTunes connected to the same file on the hard drive then don't send to the recycle bin.
Use my DeDuper script if you're not sure, don't want to do it by hand, or want to preserve ratings, play counts and playlist membership. See this thread for background, this post for detailed instructions, and please take note of the warning to backup your library before deduping.
(If you don't see the menu bar press ALT to show it temporarily or CTRL+B to keep it displayed.)
The most recent version of the script can tidy dead links as long as there is at least one live duplicate to merge stats and playlist membership to and should cope sensibly when the same file has been added via multiple paths.
Fix the library, then syncing should fix the device.
