Want to delete mails from Thunderbird but not from the server?

Hi,
Please tell me how to configure the settings of Thunderbird so that if i delete any mail from Thunderbird that mail would be delete only from Thunderbird not from server. I'm using IMAP configuration for all my mail accounts and I'm using Thunderbird in my laptop and tablet both.
Currently i'm using Thunderbird 24.4.0 and i just want to delete my useless mails from Thunderbird but not from the server without using pop-3 settings.
Actually the reason for this Question arises because whenever i use to uninstall and reinstatement Thunderbird, i use to take "profiles" as a back up and its size is increasing day by day that is making a big issue to me as i cant take a back up of such a big size file.

Imap mail accounts keep the emails on the server and you see a remote view of those emails and folders.
When you subscribe to see a folder, the headers are downloaded, when you select an email to read, the entire folder is downloaded to a temp cache facilitating quicker access. If you synchronize folders, then a copy of that folder is downloaded to an mbox file in your profile, so that you have a copy of the server folder. When you make any changes to a synchronized folder, read an email, delete or move etc, then Thunderbird will resynchronize with the server to update the server. A synchronized folder allows you to work in 'offline' mode and this is the best time to perform a backup as you know there is a temporary stop on synchronizing as you are offline. They will resynchronize when you go back into 'online' mode.
So, with IMAP mail accounts, the folders you see in Thunderbird are the same folders on the webmail server. If you make any changes via Thunderbird or webmail then you are changing the same folder. You cannot delete an email without deleting it from the server, they are one and the same.
What you can do is move/copy an email into Local Folders and delete the one on the server. The Local Folders emails are kept in your Profile on your computer, these folders/emails are not on the server, unless you chose to keep a copy of them on the server.
Pop mail accounts cannot see the folders on the server. They only access the server Inbox folder and download emails not previously downloaded to the mail account Inbox in Thunderbird. These emails are kept on your computer in your profile folder. You can select to keep a copy on the server or not. You can choose to delete emails off your computer and off the server or not.
If the mail account is gmail , have you subscribed or even synchronized to see the 'All Mail' folder ? Gmail's all Mail folder is their Archive folder, it keeps a copy of all of your non-deleted emails. So, you do not need to subscribe to see this folder as it only shows you what you can already see in other folders. It doubles the disc space.

You do not have to download/synchronize the entire folder. You could select to only synchronize the most recent xx days of emails.

Annotated PDF from Preview will not display annotations in iPad mail

I have an Annotated PDF from Preview will not display annotations in iPad mail, yet, it will display them on my Macbook Air. I confirmed this with another iPad user. Same results. Any ideas.

I had the same issue. iAnnotate PDF will display your annotations made in preview and allow you to annotate on the iPad. It is a great app, I and quite happy with it.

If you intend to ever sync your phone with your Macbook then you can't delete the app from your Macbook, otherwise the apps will also delete from your iPhone (as you've discovered).

Delete contacts from icloud, but not from iphone

I want to delete all my contacts and calendar appointments from iCloud, but not from my iphone, and i still want to have iCloud turned on in the future.
I have tried to delete the iCloud account from my iphone but when i log in to iCloud.com from a computer the contacts are still there even though i deleted the iCloud account.
How do i remove these things only from iCloud?

I fixed it, i had to turn off the syncing of the contacts and the calendar on the phone and then delete them from iCloud. Obviously if i turn on the syncing of these items again the contacts and calendar appointments will reappear in iCloud.
So problem solved.

Oh no! I'm sorry to hear you had problems in the are you're in AkJohnDye. I checked your coverage and I do see we have an extended 4G coverage. This means you're able to use your phone but it needs to be activated in a 4G LTE Verizon Wireless coverage zone. I apologize.

I just opened Foxfire and it automatically imported bookmarks from safari, but not all of them. How can I get the rest of them ?

I still have Safari on the computer with all my bookmarks. Not all of them came over to Firefox. How can I get them over. Also I had some in the toolbar that displayed over the window. Does this browser have that feature?

Export the bookmarks in Safari to an HTML file and import that file in Firefox.

Safari can access iCloud with 1 login, but not others on same MBP

Hi all,
On my login I can access iCloud, but when I try it on the kids login, it comes up with a message about not being able to connect to server. I can access any other website ok.
The only parental control is to bar explicit websites, otherwise they have free access, and I have also added the iCloud URL to allowed websites.
Would any of you kind souls be able to assist me with this problem?

How to delete mail from mac but NOT from gmail server?

Hi I have around 6GB of space used up by the mail app. I never really use it anymore though, favouring the gmail website. I can't work out how to clear out the mail app and free up that space, without also deleting the emails from the gmail server. Can anybody help?

If you are not using the mail account in the Mail app, then remove it from Mail. When in Mail, go to the drop down menu Mail > Preferences, select the Account tab, select your Gmail account and then hit the Minus ( - ) button towards the bottom to remove the account.

(jdeveloper11g,MacOSX,EJB) access to EJB in jdevdeloper but not from jar

I have created an application with an EJB which contains only one method : sayHello, which returns "hello" as a string.
I have also created another project in the same application, and the project is a swing project with one button; when you click opne the button the text of a jlabel is modified with the result of the method sayHello of the EJB.
The program runs well, I mean when I launch the application from jdeveloper, the window appears and when I click on the button the text of the label is changed
: the access to the EJB is good.
I specify the EJB is deplyed to a weblogic server, which seems to run well (I can access to the administration page).
But when I try to deploy the client to a JAR or a client JAR (I don't know the difference between them), the jar is created, and if I try to launch it the window appears but the text of the label isn't changed.
can you help me to make it work?
the access to the EJB seems good as it works from jdeveloper.

you answered most of your questions by yourself already. First of all do NEVER EVER share database schemes between J2EE and ABAP. Why? Because in most cases, the data models of an ABAP system are not only represented by fields of database tables and relations between database tables, but by the application logic behind it. As a consequence this means, that it is not recommended to access any database table used by an ABAP system directly from the J2EE engine.
The only safe way for access is the usage of JCo/SAPJRA, so, as you also already said, the better or only choice is to use JCo calls from session beans. It doesn't matter, if the ABAP system is remote or not.

Can access site via phone hotspot but not via jetpack

Trying to access magentocommerce.com - can access the site when using laptop connected to phone mobile hotspot. However, when I try to access the site with the laptop connected via the jetpack, the site won't load.
Been trying to get this resolved through Verizon Wireless support since June18th (now on 4th ticket). The only difference I can see via tracert is 3 lines:

Sadly, the 4620L has a long history of blocking specific websites that neither VZW nor Novatel have been able to resolve. It is tied to the interaction of the 4620L and the VZW network. If it were a VZW network problem then no devices would be able to access that site.

At the moment your current possible solutions are as follows:
1. Disable IPv6 on your 4620L (Some users reported success with this technique)
2. Use a VPN from a VPN server and network that can access the site
3. Purchase/Upgrade to a different Jetpack Model
4. Switch providers
DNS has nothing to do with this problem, switching them wont help. The traffic to certain sites is simply not allowed through the 4620L to any connected devices. No firmware fixes have been released to my knowledge that address or resolve this problem. You can try your luck and reflash with the latest if you are out of date, but I wouldn't expect any miracles.

Mail 5.3 under Lion 10.7.5 fetches mail from Belgacom but not from Scarlet in Belgium

Mail used to fetch mail perfectly well from all my Belgacom Skynet accounts in Belgium, and also from my Scarlet accounts.
From the moment I "up"graded to Mail 5.3, it has been unable to fetch mail from my Scarlet accounts. So I have to seperately to their Webmail in order to treat my Scarlet e-mail. Scarlet seem unable to solve the matter. It seems to be clearly an Apple problem - but WHAT problem?
What technical difference or parametric difference is there between a Belgacom Skynet account and a Scarlet account?
Can Apple, or anybody else, help? It has proved extremely embarassing as I have missed some extremely important and sensitive emails.

I solved this problem with POP account very simple. Though I've read a lot to find it, but here it is (at least it works fine with Gmail accounts):
Go to Accounts>Advanced and just check the port you uses for downloading mail from your POP server. For POP it should be 995 and SSL should be switched on.
After that Mail 5.0 downloaded all mail I had on my server (I use chelarbitr.com with Gmail Apps installed).
That's all.
