TS2634 ipad 3 charging problem?

I have a ipad 3 that has a charging problem as of late. It will not  charge while it is on. I first have to turn my ipad off and then plug it  in and then the ipad will turn itself back on and will charge. Thats  the only way i can get it to charge. It wont connect to my pc anymore to  connect to iTunes.  When I connect it to my pc I get a USB not recognize  by this device or some USB error. I tried the same thing by turning the  ipad off first and connecting it to the pc. It just turn on and I  receive the same message on my pc. What should I do? I'm thinking I may  need another USB cable but I'm not sure yet. Please help!

IF the reset doesn't help, try swapping out the cable.
Also, your ipad is best charged plugged into the wall with the supplied charging brick.
Usually charging/syncing problems are one of four things
Bad power brick
Bad USB cable
Bad outlet
In your situation you may also want ot restart your computer, use a different USB port.
If none of that swappage and restarting fixes it then you may want to make an appointment at your local apple store because it's possible that there's something worng with the port on your iPad. And that is beyond a user fix.

  • Ipad charging problems & auto-resetting

    Greetings,
There is a little problem with my Ipad2 battery I believe. It takes me a few hours to charge it up to about 18%. And it keeps rebooting itself constantly every 2 a 3 minutes. As you can see, this is actually really annoying, because.. Well.. I can't really take it anywhere!
Now, I tried a few things already, so I'm not bothering you guys with a silly question:
"Hard reset" -> Still the same problem!
"back to factory settings" -> Nope, same problem!
"Tried another charger" -> Still nothing, I used another cable, another plug and ofcourse, its original plug, because I know an Ipad needs more power than an Iphone, still the same problem!
"Yelled at it" -> Nothing! It didn't even yell back!
"Put it in a corner" -> It made me more sad than it..
Anyway, as you can see, I could really appreciate your help here!
    Thanks in advance!
    Tips & tricks welcome!

Could be the charger, cable or iPad. Plug the USB cable into your computer. It may say "Not Charging", however, it is charging slowly and will verify that the cable is good.
Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.

It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. • TS2634 IPAD charging issue?

I have the first IPAD and all of a sudden I cannot charge my IPAD through a electrical outlet.  I can only re-charge it through my laptop.  Anyone know why and can this be fixed?

  • HT1476 iPhone/iPad charging problem

Our iPhone5 USB charger (from wall socket) often either does not charge, or does so very slowly. Anyone else having this experience?

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
If your iPad indicates the battery has dropped to the point of auto-shutdown (about 1% charge) do not power up and use the iPad...doing so can cause permanent damage to the Lithium-Ion battery. If the unit will not charge from the wall outlet, and the charger works with other iDevices, can you borrow an iPad charger from someone else? That will tell you if the charger is working for lower power iDevices and not the iPad. If another iPad charger does not work with your iPad there is not much you can do but take/send it to an Apple source to have it checked.
Please do not force the iPad to run the battery below the point at which it shutsdown.
    Hope this helps.

  • Solved ( Ipad charging problem after update IOS 7.0.4 )

Its already verified by me ( Technician ) problem solved.
We were working on my customers ipad for 2-3 weeks finally figured out whats the problem.
We replaced new battery, cable and charger did not work. Reseting your ipad also does not work.
Since we fixed customers Ipad. We tried the small charger, 10w charger and connecting to computer it works. Fully charge.
Its easy fixed. Here what you can do. You need to do fresh factory restore. Do not use restore / update
    1. If your ipad is dead, slow charging. Find a way to have it charge get it at least 5-10 % charge so that your computer will detect it on Itune.
    2. Open Itune, check if your detect it, you see it on top right coner.
    3. If you have FIND MY IPAD app you have to turn it off otherwise it wont allow you. To turn it off go to PRIVACY then you will see LOCATION services turn it on
You also see FIND MY IPAD if its on turn it off it will ask your Apple ID and password. If its off already your ready to go. NOTE: Ipad has to be connected
        on  WIFI or 3G
    4. Go back to Itune. On the top right corner you will see your IPAD NAME click that, you see another box ( restore / update and restores ipad ) select restore
Ipad ( Factory restore with new IOS 7.0.4 ) let it finish the restore and your done. It will now Fixed your problem. It should charge using your original charge
      or connecting to your computer.
NOTE: If you want to upgarde your IOS to 7.0.4 dont do the update you might have problem. You do fresh Factory restore it install new IOS 7.0.4 no problem.
If you have data that you need to have to back it up this restore will earese all information on your ipad.
Good Luck, let me know if this help you and dont forget to share it.

The weird iTunes icon.... Does it also show the USB cord on the screen? If it does, that means that you have to restore your iPad using iTunes on your computer. Something went wrong and you have to fix it by restoring the iOS software.

  • IPad charger problems???

    I have the iPad 2.
For starters, I rarely use the iPad and it does die fairly often. I know that's an issue with some things, or so I've heard.
Anyway, when I plug my iPad into a wall charger, it still dies while I am using it. It doesn't matter how much battery it has at the time I plug it in (10%, 20%, 50%, etc). Now, I have had several chargers for the iProducts, including ones that came with them, and it has done this with every one. So it can't be the charger. It charges if I leave it alone, but if I'm playing a game, or surfing safari, listening to music, looking through my pics, whatever, it dies being while being plugged in. WITH EVERY CHARGER! Why does it do this, and how can I, if possible, stop it?
More info... Not sure if it is needed, but I'd like for you to have the full picture. Since it is rarely used, and therefore rarely needs to be charged, it has only been fully charged a few times. Every other time, it is charged just enough to be used at the time, then it is put back down and not messed with again, where it eventually dies and doesn't get plugged back in for a little while. It has an otterbox case cover. No drops, no water damage, it stays indoors mostly. It has only been outside a few times, but only when it was being used. Then it was brought back inside. So it cant possibly have any damage from heat or cold.

First, please use normal fonts with left-justification and use standard paragraph separation.  Your post is exceptionally diffiult to read.
Using the battery level meter in this manner is comparable to using your car's fuel gauge to calculate miles per gallon. The only thing that matters is the total amount of operating time from full charge to auto-shutdown.
Use the wall-mount charger that came with the iPad and charge overnight.  Admittedly the labeling is hard to read but, if you use a magnifier and squint your eyes, you'll see "Output 5.1V, 2.1A."  The symbol between volts and amps is the symbol for DC.  Do NOT use an iPhone charger.  Do NOT use an iPod charger.  Do NOT use a computer's USB port.  Then, operate it normally until auto shut-down (ignore any low level alerts that may appear).  An irony is that doing that test to determine the total operating time is also the exact procedure necessary to calibrate the battery level meter.
I'm not claiming that you do not have a problem.  I am stating, however, that we don't yet know whether or not a battery problem exists.
    According to Apple:
    Use Your iPad Regularly
For proper reporting of the battery’s state of charge, be sure to go through at least one charge cycle per month (charging the battery to 100% and then completely running it down).
Elsewhere, Apple elaborates and explains that two half-discharges (or four quarter-discharges, etc.) equals one full discharge.

  • Ipad Charger Problem

Hi, my ipad retina charger isn't working.  I have only had it for 3 months and has been quite temperamental. Also the charger has just sparked once plugged in. Not sure whether i can exchange it or what to do?

Not normal. Take it to an Apple Store for evaluation. You are covered by Apple's 1-year warranty, so you'll get a replacement if defective.

  • IPAD charging problem

The screen goes blank and my IPAD does not charge when I connect the charger. I have tried using the outlet charger , as well as the USB port on my PC. I tried a new charger cord. The screen goes blank as well as the PC does not recognize the device for syncing.

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
I would have suggested that the charger cord was the culprit, but you tried a new cord. Leave the iPad connected to the wall charger for at least an hour. The battery may be totally discharged.

  • TS2634 iPad Air problem.

My new iPad Air doesn't have the button "Cover On/Off" so I can't use my cover. What is my problem and how can i fix it ?

It may be a problem with that iPad then. If the soft-reset hasn't fixed it then you could try Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings (which will reset any settings that you've changed on ir) and see if that gets it to appear when you reconnect the cover, and/or resetting back to factory detaults and see if it then appears (if you do that then make sure that you first copy all purchases to your computer's iTunes library via File > Devices > Transfer Purchases and take a backup so that you can then restore it back onto it)

  • TS2634 ipad mini charging problem

I have bought a new ipad mini at the Singapore Airport duty free Apple Shop outlet in mid Feb 2013.  I usually charge the ipad mini once the battery is exhausted.
now i have faced the problem of charging this ipad mini as it was almost 8 hours, the battery still under charging. Pleas advice.
    hee peow

Some mini users have reported that the charging stops between 85-90%. If this happens, unplug the charger and then replug. It should resume charging to 100%.

  • IPad charging in ios 6 problems (Ipad2)

When I charge my iPad 2 in ios 6. It says its charging then (nek minnit) it says charged 69% then charging again then it does the same thing. And it did charge to 100% but it took a long time since it did the charging charged charging and charged. Does anyone have the same problem?

The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery
    http://www.macblend.com/how-to-calibrate-your-mac-iphone-or-ipad-battery/
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • Charging problem mini Ipad

After the update to IOS 6.0.2 my mini Ipad will not charge.
The only work around is to reset the mini Ipad totally and then the charging will work again.
When I want to charge after that, the charging won't work again, so I'll have do reset again completely.
It seems to be a bug in the software, and no battery-problem or a charger problem.
    Anyone else ?

if it only charges to 90% while plugged into a wall outlet, take it to an Apple store or AASP to have it looked at.  That is unacceptable.

  • There is a problem with the charging cable that wont let my iPad charge. it is probably the little usb thingy. it does charge when it is out of power, but as soon as it turns on it stops charging. anyone got a fix for it? mail me at simenrognli@hotmail.no

My chargers little USB port probably is the fail. it lets my ipad charge only when it is completely out of power, but as soon as it turns on, it stops charging. Any tips on what i can do? The charger is new and has worked until today. i cant bring it to the store because it was bought in my neighbour country Sweden. Thanks in advance.

    - Try another cable.
    - Try another charging source
    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. You can still go if your country has Genius Bars
