TS2634 iPad 4th Gen not charging with included apple 12w adapter & lightening cable.

So I've only has this iPad since Xmas.
It worked perfectly until a week ago when I started having charging issues with the stock accessories.
I plugged it in to the wall using the cable and adapter it came with and nothing. Not even the usual "Not Charging" message you may sometimes see when using an old computer's usb port. However, if I turn it completely off while the cable is connected to the wall, It will charge just extremely slow (takes about 12-16 hours for a full charge).
Its a 4th Gen iPad 16GB (Wifi only) with the latest software update 6.0.1
Here are the steps I have taken thus far:
I've tried isolating the problem using the accessories that came with the iPad (Cable and Adapter) and these steps below...
1. Tried different adapters and lightening cables (all apple products btw). Some will give me the "Not Charging" message, but still the same issue. Every now and then the lighting bolt charge indicator will show up, but it either switches back to not charging or will still charge extremely slow (and yes I've even tried disabling all the radio toggles such as wifi, location services, bluetooth, push, etc...)
2. Utilized the same steps listed with the accessories as above using different wall outlets
3. Hard Reset (Sleep+Home) then plugging in cable before, during, & after boot logo.
Haven't put it into DFU Mode yet & would like to avoid this for obvious reasons if possible. Any other options I'm not thinking off?

Make an appointment at your local apple store and take it in. there may be something wrong with the charging port or the software that tell it what to do. ANd that's something for the pros to deal with.
If you didn't buy it at an Apple store you can take it back where you bought it (depending on their return policy but most places have 90 days)
The reason I suggest that....I bought mine at Best Buy and it had charging issues. I took it into best buy (the closest apple store is over an hour away) and they simply exchanged mine for a new one. If you take it into apple, the policy is to exchange your malfunctioning one for a refurbished replacement.
So I got a new device instead of a refurb. Not that refurbs are bad, sometimes they are better than the new ones, but I liked being able to walk out with a brand new device instead of a used one.
Now if you bought it from Apple, then that's where you need to take it back to.

Ipad 4th Gen not working at all

I have an iPad 4th Generation WI-FI and I got it less than 2 years ago and now it doesn't work at all. I will explain a bit more about what happened to it in more detail below. So I was taking photos with it and after I was done I turned it off or as Apple call it "sleep", well I pressed the power button in other words like everyone does, right? Then in the evening I went to go on it and it was blank and wouldn't respond but in the morning it had about 30% battery but anyway it put it on charge using the Apple adaptor and I let it charge for like 30min but when it was charging it kept on showing the Apple logo every 20 seconds but wouldn't go past it. So when I took it off charge I tried holding the Power and Home buttons at the same time for about 20 sec and after about 3 to 4 tries it showed the restore iPad sign with the Lightning cable and the iTunes logo on top of it, so I plugged it into my computer and iTunes poped up and said something like:

(By the way my laptop is Win7 and had the latest iTunes on it) So I clicked the restore button and it said EXTRACTING SOFTWARE and after that the line stopped moving and a window came up saying: Unkown Error 4005 and 4013 and it took me to the Apple website and I did all the steps they told me to do and it didn't work and kept on saying the error thing. So I took it to an Apple store and the guy there said he waz restoring it and downloading new software for it and it ended up not workin for him either, but he told me there is nothing to do cause the 1 year warranty expired. Anyway now it doesn't show anything at all not even the restore logo, the apple logo nothing it completely blank and Ive had it on charge for like 2 hours. And I haven't dropped it or anything it doesn't have any physical damage or that. So yeah what should I do? Any suggestions will be appreciated

If you're trying to use AirDrop between your iPad and you're Mac, you can't. AirDrop works only iOS-to-iOS or Mac-to-Mac. If you are trying to use AirDrop between two iOS devices, perhaps this will help:

Want to use my iPad (4th gen) to edit a movie using iMovie - easy enough if the movie file is on the iPad - but what if it's too large - can I keep the source file on a USB stick or external USB hard drive and edit from there? How can you do this?

You can't export any type of file using the camera connection kit, so a USB flash drive or SD card won't work.
There are some wireless external hard drives that can be used with the iPad.
The Kingston Wi-Drive, which costs $50 for the 16 Gigabyte, and then $30 more for every 16 gigs more. It works by you turning it on and then accessing the files on it from an app that you download on your iDevice. You can access music, movies, and other stuff. No connections or anything, it works like a WiFi connection, you connect to it from the setting on the iPad under wireless networks.
Then there is the Seagate GoFlex, which some would recommend over the Wi-Drive. But this one costs $199 and had 500 Gigabytes of storage. It works the sameway as the Kingston: no wires, runs over its wireless connection. You can actually fit up to 300 HD movies on it.

Ipad 4 not charging with the ORIGINAL Power adapter that came in the box. Can't charge my iPad. I plugged in on PC all night and has been charged to 7%

Yesterday, as usual was going to charge my iPad, it was at 1%. Well, I took my ipad charger (original Apple official, I want to clarify that as a first step, I'm using the brand products than Apple) and plugged into an outlet ... The ipad began loading the first two minutes , then I got a notification telling me that the iPad could not charge with the charger.
I was quite surprised by the announcement. I disconnected and reconnected it .... again, I received the same notification. Then I disconnected and tried it on another outlet ... anything, yet. then I tried it on another outlet and ipad started charging. but after a while I had the same notice, not paying attention to that. I left it charging and I removed roughly 25% that of fear for something to happen. also remembered that situation (made 2-3 months ago where the iPad was not charging but after waiting a while disconnected, reconnected it and loaded normally).
so I decided to wait to re-connect the iPad to the outlet. This time, I plugged it into the outlet (fully discharged) at night and expected to find it loaded in the morning. But my surprise is that it still is off, it did not load anything.
I Bought the iPad in December 2012. Do you think that my iPad is hurt?
What can I do? Ay recommendation?

Try giving your iPad a reset. Hold down the sleep and home keys until you see the silver apple. Let it reboot and try again. You may also want to swap out the cable, just to confirm or rule out that it's bad.
If none of those fixes work, make the appointment at your apple store and have them check it out.

If the battery has been completely depleted it may take more than an hour before the iPad becomes responsive again. Leave it on the charger overnight. If it does not charge up by the next morning make an appointment at an Apple store to have it looked at.

My iPad 3 is not charging with the supplied charger consistently

My new iPad 3 for ATT (64gb) that I just bought from the Apple refurbished store is having major charging issues. I was using my old iPad 2 Apple supplied charger and a 6ft aftermarket USB cable for the last 18 months or so with zero problems.
I plugged in my new iPad 3 the day after I got it because the one I got the day before needed to be replaced. The one I have now is from my local Apple store. I noticed after a few hours, that it displayed 72% and the NOT CHARGING display at the top. I tried several different cables (I sell them and have a few hundred), three different 10W chargers in the next 10 minutes and none would work properly. I used the wall outlet, then tried an extension cord from my UPS and then the extension cord from the wall and that didn’t work either. Several of the old chargers, including the iPhone block chargers would tease me and start working only to stop a minute later. I waited for an hour or so and tried again, the new charger and cable did charge it to 100 % from the wall outlet.
The next night, I plugged in that same 10watt original charger again from the wall at 32% and woke up 7 hours later to 58% and NOT CHARGING again. I tried the original aftermarket charger and the aftermarket 6ft cable in the wall and got it to 78% before it showed the NOT CHARGING again. I’m now at work using a third party 10w charger and a generic 6ft USB cable. It’s working so far but I don't know for how long.
I never had anything like this with my iPad 2. Does this sound familiar to anyone else? Should I take the charger and cable back to the apple store? Frankly I don’t think it’s either one but I’m grasping for any answer now. This stinks big time.

things that are normal for not charging
using iPhone chargers, using USB ports....they won't work. iPhone chargers put out 5W the iPad wants 10. Most USB's put out too little power to do anything but a trickle charge. So that part is normal.
However, out of all the combos you've tried, most of them should have worked. Make an appointment and get that refurb back to the store to be checked out.

IPad 3rd gen not charging via wall socket

Ok I'm really annoyed right now, my iPad 3rd gen has suddenly decided not to charge when plugged via adapter to the wall socket. I thought it was the cables fault so I went into the currys store and bought an apple charger, came home and I have the same problem. When I plug my iPad to the wire to charge the battery sign flashes between between charging and not charging and then I get a message saying maybe this device is not compatible with the iPad and now I just keep getting the message saying "not charging". So I plugged the wire to my MacBook and yay the iPad charges, but its a little bit inconvinient for me and I prefer charging via the wall socket. I've tried everything resetting etc I've even done the software update (ios7.1). Can someone please tell me what's going on, am I doing something wrong? Any help would be appreciated! Oh I've also ordered the apple 12w adaptor charger, do you think this will solve the problem? Thank you

You, say, " I thought it was the cables fault", but then you say, "I went into the currys store and bought an apple charger". Did you buy a charger or a cable?
The problem could be the charger. If so, the new 12W charger should solve the problem.

I have an iPad 2, which was purchased online in May 2012. My iPad will not charge - the upper right-hand corner shows a charging symbol, but the iPad does not gain power. I have tried the following:
Charging the iPad with the APPLE USB cable and APPLE wall plug provided with the iPad in several different wall outlets
Charging with another, alternate apple cable (in case the apple cable I was using wasn't working)
Charging with an non-apple cable and plug into a wall socket
Charging the iPad with an apple cable into my Mac
Charging the iPad into a non-apple laptop
Performing a soft reset, by pushing the home button and power key down until the iPad reset (tried this several times, before and after full restore)
Performing a full restore, which involved updating my iPad to version 6.0, wiping the iPad clean, and then restoring it from a back-up (tried this several times)
Charging the iPad while completely powered off
Letting the iPad completely die, and then charging it - it took me several weeks to get any power back and for the red charging symbol to go away - I did this by leaving it plug into my non-mac laptop for several days, after which it finally charged it back to 14%, showing the "Not Charging symbol" the whole time.
Removing my case off the iPad (in case the case was blocking the proper insertion of the USB cable)
Blowing on the iPad port to remove blockage from dust, etc.
At this point, I'm not sure what else I can try. I combed the support threads thoroughly to ensure I didn't miss any other options, but I am hoping someone else may have thought of something I didn't try. I know that the fastest way to charge the iPad is to use the 10w USB cable provided by apple, into an outlet. I have tried this several times - it doesn't work. The charging symbol shows up in the right hand upper corner, but the display does not show a charging battery, and the iPad does not increase in charge.
I do not live in a city with an Apple Store, so I am hoping you all can provide me with a solution, as it will be a 10+ hour round trip to get this resolved in person, in store.

When you say " tried to reset it ", does that mean you tried holding down Home and Sleep till the screen went black and a white Apple logo appeared? That usually resets my batteries and lets them reach 100% charge.
If all fails and the device has a few years on it, the battery may very well be dead. Happens to all rechargeables. A trip to the Store for assessment will be inevitable to check the charger, cable and device. And if needed, a battery replacement alternative will be offered.

My 3 month old iPad is suddenly not charging with the adapter

Thanks everyone! I decided to leave it plugged in and it seems to be charging but it still says 'not charging' in the top right corner next to the battery percentage. It seems to be charging slower than usual though. It was at 44% around 10am and at 2 pm it's at 66%. I don't see the lightning bolt through the battery icon like I normally would. what would cause that? I really appreciate all of your help! Jeannie
