TS2634 iPad Smart Cover sleep mode isn't functioning when top lid is closed, iPad still on.

Smart Cover isn't functioning correctly.  When lid is in place I can still see my iPad on with screen light.  No click sound after lid is place also.  I have remove the Smart Cover and fitted it to my iPad but still Smart Cover sleep mode is not working.

Go to Settings>General and make sure the switch to iPad Smart Cover On/Off is set to On.

  • TS2634 Why would my ipad Smart Cover suddenly stop charging?

HHI my ipad Smart Cover suddenly has stopped charging when I close it. Can anyone give me a reason it might do that?

    Gotcha...figured it was worth mentioning.
What I would do next (provided you've exhausted everything else) would be to backup the device using iTunes...backup your media as well. Then restore the device as new, not using any backup. After the initial setup, don't install any apps or media. Test for the issue. If the issue is present after restoring as new, that a good indication that there's a hardware issue. If the issue is not present after restoring as new, the issue a likely a botched/borked setting somewhere in the backup of the iPad. In this case (and assuming you want to clear the issue), you'll have to rebuild your device (apps media, settings, everything) from the restored as new state. This won't be pleasant or enjoyable but it may need to be done if you want to clear the issue. I had to do this recently to clear a different issue and I know it's not easy, especially all of the settings involved. I may have it a bit easier than most since I keep my iPads pretty empty...my 16 GB devices have more than 8 GB free on average (3 - 4 GB used).

  • Cover sleep mode, but reboots, help

There seems to be a problem when the cover is closed to make the iPad mini sleep.  Normally when the iPad is in sleep mode and a Face Time comes in, there is an alert that says, hey someone is calling you.  There is no sound, and it seems like the iPad is rebooting up when I want to wake it up from the sleep mode.
If the ipad is put into sleep mode without closing the cover, it is all fine then because I am not opening the cover, but when the cover is on the Ipad screen, it reboots all over again.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks
    Yvon

Since this is a G4 mini (according to your sig line), the first thing to try is a PMU reset to ensure the issue isn't caused by a problem in power management:
    - Unplug all cables from the computer, including the power cord.
    - Wait 10 seconds.
    - Plug in the power cord while simultaneously pressing and holding the power button on the back of the computer.
    - Let go of the power button.
    - Press the power button once more to start up your Mac mini.
If that doesn't help, and the sleeping doesn't coincide with the fan spinning up (you would certainly hear that if it were) then it's not likely to be a heat-related problem unless the fan itself is faulty. I'd still follow the advice to ensure the vents are clear (you can blow through them while everything is disconnected for the PMU reset), but next likely culprit is either something connected to the system (USB devices are common culprits in sleep-related issues) or a problem with the MacOS install/configuration.
Next step would be to create a new user account on the system and log into that. If the issues continue, the problem is system-level, if not, it's a problem with something in your user account. It would then be worth downloading a copy of Preferential Treatment (from www.versiontracker.com) and running that. This will examine the property list files at both system and user level and flag any that are damaged. If it finds anything, remove the damaged files (the system will create new ones automatically).

  • IPad smart cover ripping at sides

My iPad smart cover at the sides is breaking and separating. I lost the receipt will apple still give me a new one if I take it back With out the receipt?

Mine has been good thank god, but I know with the smart cover they were having problems with the early ones. I read somewhere that people even without a receipt could go in for an exchange. You never know.

  • IPad (4th Gen) What is a good case that goes with the "iPad Smart Cover"?

    Hi,
I'm currently looking for a case that covers the aluminum back that also goes with the iPad Smart Cover. Thanks!

I've bought a ton of back covers. It's been hard trying to find the right one. I've settled on two really good ones though:
Caudabe Shell: This one's my daily driver, so to speak. I've got the frost version and it looks really good and has held up really well. Price is very reasonable too.
Switcheasy Cover Buddy: I like this one as well. Only thing is that they don't seem to have a frost version. They just have opaque colors, which I'm not a huge fan of. This is also a little bit more expensive than the Caudabe cover.

how to clean the iPad Smart Cover(Leather)?

For added protection, use wilsons leather cleaner/protector spray.  Makes it water proof and stain resistant.  Just did it to my tan cover and it worked great!

  • IPad smart cover cannot come on

my iPad smart cover connot stick together pleasget some instucions to put my smart cover on!!!!

If you look at your Smart cover, there are 3 places where it's thinner to allow the cover to fold up and be used as a stand.  Since these parts don't touch the screen, the screen doesn't get cleaned right there.  If you remove the cover and fold it with the microfiber side facing out, you can wipe it across the screen for a complete cleaning.

  • HT204158 how do you fold an iPad smart cover to prop up the iPad?

I have seen the iPad smart cover folded so that you can prop up the iPad to watch a movie.  How do you do that?

You basically just "roll up" the cover. See the video included on this page:

  • I forgot my ipad passcode.  I tried to restore ipad using the recovery mode option.  However when I try this iTunes askes me to turn off the "find my ipad" option (which of course I cannot do as I cannot open the ipad).

I forgot my ipad passcode.  I tried:
    1. Simply to restore the ipad on the computer it is normally synced with, but it askes me to enter the passcode.
    2. to restore ipad using the recovery mode option.  However when I try this iTunes askes me to turn off the "find my ipad" cloud option (which of course I cannot do as I cannot open the ipad).
    3. to remotely erase my ipad, but as it is locked down it does not seem to be connecting to the internet and hence cannot seen through my "find my ipad".
I am completely stuck!  Any suggestions please?!?!?

  • Powerbook does not sleep when the lid is closed

my tibook does not go to sleep when i close the lid. the screen stays on when the lid is closed. the screen was replaced a few months ago. i have to hit the power button and choose sleep or choose sleep from the menu. does anyone know how to fix this. Thanks.

Hi, fatchance. You have a hardware issue. The reed switch that puts the PB to sleep when it is closed is a two-part device. The latch mechanism in the main body of the Powerbook contains a magnet (which you can detect by moving a paper clip over it), and the switch itself is located inside the small latch opening in the display bezel. When the display is closed, the magnet is supposed to actuate the switch, putting the PB to sleep. If that isn't happening on your PB, the switch is broken or its wiring is damaged. Either way, the remedy will be to replace the entire display assembly. It's made not to be disassembled. Most technicians won't do so, because of the great likelihood of damaging the display housing/bezel or the display itself while prying it apart (it's epoxied together). Since the display is the PB's most costly part, replacing it merely to fix your reed switch would be a poor bargain, and I can't recommend it. Just put the PB to sleep manually or set a suitable sleep delay in the Energy Saver control pane instead.

  • T540p will not go to sleep when the lid is closed

I recently got a T540p and all settings in Windows 8.1 are set to "sleep" when either the power button or lid is closed. Neither of these work, the screen stays on when the lid is closed. If I let the computer idle long enough, the computer will enter sleep. I've used Lenovo System Update to get the latest drivers and there is nothing outstanding. Could someone please advise if there is anything else to check?

    Hi Adamstirtan,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community!
As per the query we understood that you are facing issue with system not going to sleep mode on your ThinkPad T500.
Go to Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Power Options\Choose what closing the lid dose – When close the lid – On battery sleep – Plugged in sleep.
To prevent programs from waking your computer:
Open Power Options by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Security, and then clicking Power Options.
On the Select a power plan page, click Change plan settings for the plan that you want to change.
On the Change settings for the plan page, click Change advanced power settings.
On the Advanced settings tab, expand Sleep, expand Allow wake timers, choose Disable for both when your computer is running on battery and when it's plugged in, and then click OK.
    Hope this helps.
    Best regards,
    Hemanth Kumar
