TS2634 My text messages show up on my husband's iPad.  How do I disable that?

My text messages arre showing up on my husband's iPad.  How do I disable that?

Are you sharing apple id with your husband, if so that is the reason for this.
Go to settings - message - send&receive - remove or uncheck the apple id on both devices.
Or you husband will need to create a new apple id for his ipad.

    You can't.
The iPhone stores text messages in conversation format for starters.

  • TS4097 we have multiple users in our family and multiple devices all sharing one itunes account.  i think we are all synced to one icloud account and it is a nightmare....contacts lost, text messags showing up on multiple devises etc.  how do we fix this?

We have our family sharing one itunes account.  we have 3 iphones, 2 macbook airs, 2 ipads and 1 mac.  I am not sure how we even got started on the icloud but somehow we did and everything is a mess.  The ipads are showing the text messages, the contacts are all combined, the apps that my duaghter downloads are appearing on all devices.  how do we fix this so contacts are not shared, messages are not shared and apps are not automatically synced to all devises?

You have two different issues going on.  You are getting each other's messages because you are sharing the Same Apple ID for iMessage.  This can be corrected by going to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive on add the devices and doing one of the following:
Either uncheck the email address shown under "You can be reached by iMessage at" on all of your devices; or
If you want to continue to receive iMessages at this email address on one of your devices, on all of the other ones tap the Apple ID at the top, sign out, then sign back in using a different Apple ID (so all devices will be using a different Apple ID for iMessage).  Note: you can continue to share an Apple ID for purchasing from the iTunes and App stores.  It does not need to be the same as the ID you are using for iMessage, FaceTime and other services.
The second issue is that you are sharing the same iCloud account on your devices.  When you do this any data you sync with the shared iCloud account such as contacts is merged and will appear on all devices connected to the account.  To fix this you both need to have separate iCloud accounts (you can continue to share the same Apple ID for purchasing from the iTunes and app stores).
First decide which device(s) will be keeping the current iCloud account.  On the one(s) that will be changing accounts, if you have any photos in photo stream that in your camera roll or backed up somewhere else that you want to keep on the device(s), save these to the camera roll by opening the photo stream album in the thumbnail view, tapping Edit, then tap all the photos you want to save, tap Share and tap Save to Camera Roll.
Once this is done, go to Settings>iCloud, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.  (This will only delete the account from this device, not from iCloud.  The device(s) that will be keeping the account will not be effected by this.)  When prompted about what to do with the iCloud data, be sure to select Keep On [iDevice].  Next, set up a new iCloud account using a separate Apple ID (if you don't have one, tap Get a Free Apple ID at the bottom).  Then turn iCloud data syncing for contacts, etc. back to On, and when prompted about merging with iCloud, choose Merge.  This will upload the data to the new account.  Repeat this process for all the devices that you need to migrate to new accounts.
When finished, to un-merge the data in your accounts you will have to go to icloud.com on your computer and sign into each iCloud account separately and manually delete the data you don't want (such as deleting the other person's contacts from your account, and vice versa).

  • My text messages are also going to my daughters iPad , how do I stop this please ????

Hi all my daughter got a new iPad at the weekend . Both myself and my husband have the iPhone 4s he also has an iPad since setting my daughters up ( all sharing the same apple I'd ) she is getting my text messages from people with iPhones , how do I stop this please ....

Settings > Messages > Receive At > each device must have different email address if you don't want the message going to more than one device.
Also, Settings > Messages > Receive At > Caller ID > all must be different!

  • I have 2 phones on my iTunes account, why are text messages showing on the second phone when sent from the first

I have 2 phones on my iTunes account, why are text messages showing on the second phone when sent from the first phone?

it's meant to work like that
so if you receive a message on your iphone you also get it on your ipad or ipod touch
to avoid it use separate appleID for each device
or turn off imessage on 1 or both devices in their settings
but that will not fix the issue that 2 devices using the same appleID will never be able to facetime eachother
the appleID is a unique handle for 1 user only

  • HT5538 My brother and I share an iTunes account and his text messages show up on MY macbook. His texts don't show up on my phone though. how can i delete his number off my iMessage on my laptop?

My brother and I share an iTunes account and his text messages show up on MY macbook. His texts don't show up on my phone though. how can i delete his number off my iMessage on my laptop?

    These are iMessages only.
He activated iMessage on his iPhone with the same Apple ID that you activated iMessage with on your Mac.
On your Mac, go to Messages preferences.
Under the Settings selection for your Apple ID, deselect your brother's phone number for you can be reached for messages at.

  • Why are my text messages showing up on my wife's IPhone 6 and her Text messages showing up on my iPhone 6?

Why are my text messages showing up on my wife's iPhone 6 and her test messages showing up on my IPhone 6?

its because you guys are using the same Apple ID on both devices , when you use the same it connects to iCloud/iMessages so when ever you get a text on any other iPhone with there iMessages on its going to show on both devices because its the same apple ID that you are using for your iMessages , you can fix that buy gating a new apple ID for one of you ,ore go to your system preferences then go in to your iMessages  remove your email from there make shore its only your number on there ,but the best why is to get another Apple ID.

  • How to send a text message instead of imessage on Mac and Ipad iOs 8.1?

My iphone 6 Plus, ipad mini 2 and MBA on OSX Yosemite are all linked together under the same wireless network. However when i send a message on my Mac to my friend who is using an iphone, default sending is via imessage. How can i choose to send a text message instead of imessage? WHy? because sometimes my friend is not online. So i need to send a text message that my messages are received real time.

    Hey there ipremacha,
It sounds like you need to enable Text Message Forwarding on your iPhone for your iPad to send MMS/SMS messages through your phone.
Connect your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Mac using Continuity
Go to Messages > Text Message Forwarding, and enable the device(s) you would like to forward messages to.
Your Mac, iPad, or iPod touch will display a code. Enter this code on your iPhone to verify the SMS feature.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Regards,
    Sterling

  • Help! I have an iPhone 4s, I accidentally deleted a text message and my phone is not synced. How do I retrieve it?, Help! I have an iPhone 4s, I accidentally deleted a text message and my phone is not synced. How do I retrieve it?

Help! I have an iPhone 4s, I accidentally deleted a text message and my phone is not synced. How do I retrieve it?

You can not retrieve a deleted message that was not synced.
There are data recovery services that "may" be able to retrieve the message.
These recovery services can cost $1000 or more though.

I had the same problem a year ago when I did an iOS upgrade. Now if I receive an important photo I save it to the Camera Roll
No way I know of to retrieve them unless you have a very recent backup to restore from maybe?

  • Since updating to iOS 7 I get text messages on my phone but not my iPad or visa versa. Why?

Is there a bug in the iOS 7 that doesn't allow text messages to appear on both iPhone and iPad?  It worked fine before the upgrade.

These are iMessages, not text messages as in SMS/MMS.
On your iPhone go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive.
Below the "You can be reached by iMessage at" section, is the same selected there as is selected at the same location on your iPads?
With iMessage enabled with the same Apple ID on multiple iOS devices along with the same settings for Send & Receive on each iOS devices, iMessages will be synced so to speak on each device. This is designed so you can start an iMessage conversation with an iPad, leave with your iPhone and continue the conversion with all recevied and sent iMessages available on each iOS device. With an iPhone and iPad activated with iMessage with the same Apple ID, you will have your iPhone's cell phone available on the iPad to start a new conversion from and to receive iMessages addressed to your iPhone's cell phone number. I have Message on my Mac, on my iPad, and my iPhone set to start a new conversation with my iPhone's phone number.
