TS2755 getting sons txt messages
I share an apple ID with my son. I most recently updated my phone and ipad to the newest version. I am not getting his txt messages on my ipad. How can I fix this and can it be done without creating a new apple id. Thanks
Why do you need to keep the same Apple ID? I suspect it is because you want to share apps without purchasing them again?
If so, the Apple ID and iTunes account are two separate things.
Read this to see how to use multiple devices with a single iTunes account. Set up the devices using one iTunes account but separate Apple IDs so you can each have your own iMessage and Game Center accounts.

I change phones and i am not getting regular txt messages because somehow the messages are still sending through imessage which i no longer have.... I deleted my phone number from the account though as per instructiions from the phone carrier and is still not working...Any help?

It sounds like you are no longer getting text messages becuase your Apple ID is still using your phone number for iMessage. I would use these steps to unlink your phone number from your account:
Unlink a phone number
To remove a phone number from an Apple ID, sign out of FaceTime and Messages on your iPhone:
Settings > Messages > Send & Receive. Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
Settings > FaceTime. Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
This should remove your phone number from other devices using the same Apple ID with FaceTime and Messages. If the phone number is still available on other devices after you sign out of FaceTime and iMessage on the iPhone, you may need to sign out of iMessage and FaceTime on all your devices, then sign in to FaceTime and Messages again on devices you want to use.
Note: If you no longer have access to the iPhone that is using the number you want to remove, reset your Apple ID password.

I have three iPhones using the same iTunes account, can we set something so that all our txt messages are not appearing on all phones?
Settings > Messages > Receive At...
Any iPhone that lists the same email will receive the same texts. This has to be changed in order to stop receiving on all devices. -
TS2755 'Not delivered' txt messages
I can send txt messages to everybody except replying to my wifes' iPhone. She is beginning to take offence. Any suggestions ( Divorce is not an option).
If you both have iPhones, I would deactivate iMessage on BOTH devices, then reactivate each with its own Apple ID.
Then try again. -

My friend had an iPhone and my phone recognized that. Now she does not and so my phone always tries to send iMessage to her. How do I change this so my txt will be sent.. Can anyone please help me with this!?!?!?
Have her text you first, using her new phone. See if it registers as a Text after that.

on my alias 2 i was able to assign a ringtone to all txt messages
Q. why can't this be done on my new Samsung Galaxy Note ll
under the message setting I can select notification setting with a ck mark and under ringtones I can select a tone.
But your stuck with the default tones that are preloaded into the phone and you can not download new tones or
assign ringtones that you have dl and purchased for txt message alert or notifications.
Which i find really crappy because now I am not getting my txt messages in a time manner.

You can use a custom notification tone for all your text messages. If you are wanting control over individual contacts for their text messages, you need a third party app.
To get custom notification tones, you have to copy your ringtones to the "notifications" folder in the phone internal storage space. The OS will likely have already created the folder. You can also put it on the external SD card, but works better in the internal memory. To copy the files to this folder, you can use a file explorer app or connect the phone to a computer and use the computer's file manager to copy and paste the files. -
In not getting any text messages on my iphone

can't get any txt messages ? imessages or sms txt messages ? verify in settings on phone. messages tab. that you have iMessage on. send as SMS on. and also MMS messaging on. are on them on.
if they are all on. reset network settings for phone. go to settings. general. at bottom reset. reset network settings. and try again.
if that doesn't work. backup your phone. wipe it to factory. don't restore your data yet. test it then. if it works. then restore your data and test. if it doesn't. you have a issue with the phone or the account allowing messages. -
Important software update txt message
Anyone else get this txt message from at&t saying "An important update for iphone 3g has been available on itunes since this past monday. to get it, simply synch your iphone 3...."
That update didnt seem to be that big of a deal. But a txt message to inform people. Must be more important then we think.I also received the text message, Boston area. It must have been nationally broadcast, or else there would be no purpose.
Is the implication that people who acquired new 3G connectivity issues with the last update and people whose 3G issues pre-dated the last update will both see a correction when everyone has updated their iPhone?
If ATT is smart, they know that they will lose customers to T-Mobile and Android or some other 3G phone. There are certainly enough people on these boards with 1st generation iPhones watching the situation and wondering if the upgrade will be worth it, it seems. Besides, the rumored T-Mobile 3G data plans are significantly cheaper than ATTs, and T-Mobile has more experience with 3G than ATT.

Intermittent TXT Messaging Issue
Within the last 2 weeks I have been having an intermittent, but increasing txt messaging issue with people. It started by them recieving jumbled messages at fir and has now morphed into them not always getting my txt messages. I have cleared all the caches, restarted the device numerous times, change from messages to normal messages. Even turned on the delivery reports (which don't come back either) when sending if the message doesn't go through. I have been using the phone with no issue since it shipped and have only started having this issue with the last couple of weeks and as of last night a msg they sent me took 3 hrs. to arrive. Any help would be appreciated as it mainly affects the prson I txt most and is very annoying and unreliable. If I can't communicate with this person I may have to switch carriers.
It's important that your text messages are working properly, gurv07728. I appreciate the steps that you have taken on your own. Are you using the default text message application? If you send a message to yourself do you receive it right away?

TS2755 My txt messages disappeared!
I connected to gogo on a flight yesterday, and sent a text message. Now all my other txt messages are gone. Where did they all go? Only the text message I sent while connected to gogo appears now. PLEASE help! I had a lot of info stored in my txt messages! I'm not sure how to get them back!
Thanks!I have had the same problem and think I have found an answer since I only use wifi on my iphone and all my iphone contacts have a regular plan. This ( my wifi only setup) kept me from confusing when I was using the tower or home wifi .( this would be the same scenario if iphone user to ipad?) It dawned on me that all my texts would go through to them, but I was not recieving many they sent( from different users). Finally one person said that it was funny that I did not get her green ones. Epiphany! Those were the "tower" texts going through her provider. I had my sim out so absolutely no provider on my end, thus no message! Boils down to: ALL USERS THAT ARE IN THE IMESSAGE MODE, WAIT FOR THE GREEN TO TURN BLUE BEFORE HITTING THE SEND BUTTON. It seems there may be a slight delay for the phone to verify that the recipient also has an iphone and the seasoned iphone users are so quick on the draw they don't wait long enough for the automatic color change?? I'm completely new to the iphone so I could be wrong. Could any of you experienced people test my theory and let me know??

If you didn't have imessage on and now do, it sometimes takes a while to get synced up.

If you do not want to receive iMessage on your Mac, then all you need to do is simply sign out of the Apple ID in the Messages Accounts preferences.

Make 3 different iCloud accounts and use ONLY for iMessage. That will permanently fix your issue.

Reset Apple Push Notification Certificate
I revoked my APN cert online @ https://identity.apple.com/pweb to try and clear out some configuration issues on my server. Now I need to create a new APN. Unfortunately in Server.app the old cert is still showing and I only get the option to "renew"
