Why will my iphone 5 not send or receive messages ever since I updated it to iOS 7.0.4 a few hours ago?

I have no idea, works on mine. Does it still do that after you do a Reset? (Hold down the home and sleep button, wait for the Apple logo, let go of the buttons.)

I picked up my new iphone 4s at the weekend, since i turned the phone i found some people where ''ignoring me'. People who have rang my new number have said it says ''no number'' and ''not regonised''. Some of my messages haven't been recieved by my friends, and likewise i have not recived theirs. Would really appreicate some help? Really disapointed that my brand new Iphone 4s can't do a simple function as SMS messaging.

If it isn't sending to non-iPhone users go to Settings>Messages and turn Send AS SMS to On. If it isn't just non-iPhone users then the problem could be with your carrier or theirs, and you'll have to follow up with them to investigate it.

My downloaded apps will not let me go into them?? They were working fine an hour ago??

If it's just the downloaded apps that aren't working whilst the Apple built-in ones are ok, then try downloading any free app from the store (as that appears to reset something) and then re-try them - the free app can then be deleted.

I believe there have been some sporadic problems with iMessage.

First step, try Settings App > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. See if it works now?

My iphone 4 will not send and receive text messages at random times. My brother has the same phone, lives in the same home and doesn't have this problem. I can't receive messages without my iphone displaying a message asking for my phone number at random times. It happens intermittently. Does anyone know why this happens? I've been an AT&T customer since they were under different names in the 90s and have never heard/seen that. I would check with them. I'd really like to see that error. To get a screenshot on the phone, press the home button and sleep/wake button together quickly and release. You will see the screen flash slightly and hear the camera shutter noise.

I had this same problem with my new MBP 15", but only with the USB port on the left side. The USB port on the right side worked fine. Perhaps the ports on the left don't have enough signal energy for the iPhone.
Anyway, try using a different USB port, and if that doesn't work, perhaps you could try a powered USB hub.

When you said you went to Settings and everything seems good. Does that mean the MMS was turned on? If so, and this is only being experienced when dealing with SMS/MMS, then you should contact your carrier to have them check to make sure your account is provisioned for MMS, and that everything is alright with your account. SMS/MMS is a carrier function.

Yes I have turned imessage off a number of times and that does not seem to he doing the trick, and it is not delivering them then I have to press on the photo and either chose try again or send as text message, I have had the setting on to not allow sending pictures as texts (so they can only send as imessage) since I got my phone in January and it has always worked until now, I have turned that off to allow me to send them as picture messages now but it's still not working over iMessage, I have also tried it using 3G and not wifi

TS5185 My IPAD will not send messages to non APPLE users.

Today, Christmas Day, while trying to send a message my IPAD wanted me to turn on iMessage. There was no option not to do this. After it was turned on I could no longer send messages to non Apple users. After reading online that I could set send SMS on my IPHONE I did. Now I guess it send everything as an SMS message. Now my IPAD will not send messages to non Apple users. I guess Apple wants us to pick our friends only if the use Apple products. This is about as stupid as it gets. They want us to only communicate with Apple users. The only other option is to turn the feature off. Why have iMessage in the first place.
So my situation is I can send SMS Messages on my IPHONE. I cannot send any messages to non Apple users on my IPAD and iMessages to my Apple users.
This kind of stupidity is why I switched from Windows to Apple in the first place. Don't they test anything out anymore at Apple?
