After purchasing an audiobook on my iPhone 5 via a wifi link on the phone, cannot download the book to my phone. But my apple account has been charged. Also, the book shows up "on the phone" when I am connected to my computer via a iPhone cable.

Once I established a better WIFI connection, I solved this problem. I originally suspected it was an IOS-ITunes capability problem. Despite downloading the audiobook, I wasn't able to access it unless I plugged iPhone into Mac.

Correct. That is because audiobooks are not in icloud at all. The audiobook industry does not allow this.
Audiobooks cannot be redownloaded.
You must sync them.

However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Features app in the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components

- New cable and different USB port
- Run this and see if the results help with determine the cause

Kindle books are not on iCloud. Do you actually mean iCloud? See the title of your post. Kindle books are downloaded from Amazon's servers using the Kindle App on the iPad/iPhone.

How do I download a book purchase from my computer onto a snyced IPad?
I purchased a book in iTunes through my computer thinking that it would be filed on my connected iPad.
But it didn't show up in iBooks. The purchase went through. My computer shows that it is in the itunes section.
I don't have wifi at home. Is that the only way to get it onto my iPad?

My ability to download library books has stopped working.
I get a code that says E_adept_request_expired whenever I try to download a book.

Hi, thanks to Jim Lester and Frustrated in AZ for your replies. As mentioned in my original post the Adobe message returned is:- "error activating device with Adobe. E_Adept_Request_Expired(error code 2004). When first using and setting up the tablet Adobe was required to authorise the tablet with a DRM licence.
I assume this message that I now receive relates to this (the expired bit).I have checked and double checked date and time etc. To explain further, ADE is NOT required to download library books as the Overdrive Books app is used for this, the app being supplied by the library. Having contacted Overdrive Books, they also suggest that it is a date time problem and can offer no further suggestions. Now, trying to overcome this problem I tried to reinstall the Arnova update in the normal way and now find that I cannot even do this, I cannot reinstall the update. Copying to the root in the normal way results in the update file being stored in the root but not able to install from this point. So it now seems to me that the original update installation may have caused the problem so, how can this be overcome. Any suggestions at all will be most welcome. Thanks.

I got round the situation by making a second user on my computer. That user synched my new shuffle, the first user synched my iPod.
Then my external drive, on which all my iTunes were stored, failed. Then my computer started dying, then my printer died, and now I have a new Mac. I can't get that online because my ISP forgot to send me a router when they said they would.
So now I have 3000 songs on my iPod and will have to get them off it and onto my new Mac iTunes when I get online, next week.

I downloaded a book on a laptop which shares my iTunes account. Now I'd like to read it on another computer, which is also authorized to use that account, but I can't find any link or menu item to do that. The book doesn't show up in my Books menu item but it certainly shows in my list of purchases in my iTunes account.
