I sent an iMessage to someone then I received the same one back from that person but they didn't send it why is this happening?

Are you both using the same Apple ID?

  • Servlet: send back text and images to the requester

Can you give me some tips ?Tip: Make up your mind. You can only send one thing as the response. If you want to send text, then send text. If you want to send an image, then send an image. In any case you should set the content type to indicate what you're sending.
You can only send a mixed bag of text and images in the unlikely case that you've defined your own content type along with a client which understands it. Or if you zip them all into a zip archive, or something like that.

  • TS2755 iMessage sent as text for first message

After the iOS 6 update, my iPhone 4S through Sprint will not send iMessages to iMessage users on the first text. It sends the message as a text and when the iMessage user responds it changes to iMessage. How can I fix this? I've restarted my phone over and over and turned iMessage on/off. I've connected to iTunes and tried to see if maybe it's a glitch that has an update but nothing comes up. The only thing I have not done is restored my iPhone, and I would like to do that last if NOTHING else works. Everything is backed up, I sync my phone everyday because of work and scheduling.

My phone does the same thing. The first message I send will send text but after they reply (iMessage) never have any problems. If I get a message from them first it's an iMessage but when I start the conversation it only will send an SMS first. Really annoying, why not iMessage from message 1!!!!!!

  • Does iMessage send as text message if I'm not connected to Wi-Fi for a few hours?

iPhone 4 with iOS 6. If I'm out for say...2 hours, with no Wi-Fi connection. Does my phone automatically send as SMS instead of iMessage?

Only if you have this setting turned on: Settings>Messages>Send as SMS>On.

  • TS2755 iMessage crashing when texting only ONE specific number?!

    OMG!!!! HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
For some reason my iPhone 5S messages is crashing when i try to text only ONE phone number!!!!!!!!!  Then i even tried erasing his number, starting over, deleting any sign of the phone number in the phone book or recents...creating new contact, messaging without a name, etc!!!!!!  and when I go to send the message or even tap on the name/number, it crashes and force closes Messages!!!!!!!! ***????????  Anybody!?

Quit the Messages application by double clicking the Home button and swiping up on the Messages thumbnail.
Reset your device (nothing will be lost): Hold down the Home and Power buttons at the same time and continue to hold them down until the Silver Apple appears (up to 30 seconds). Once the Home screen redisplays, see if the issue is resolved.

  • TS2755 imessages send a copy of message to my own phone

When I send an imessage, it sends it to the recipient and also to myself?

Go to Settings - Messages - Send and Receive and make sure only your phone # is checked.

  • TS2755 Since sending a contact a text, I can no longer imessage him

Since sending a text to a contact when he was overseas and had data off, I can no longer use imessage for him from my iphone, despite him being back in his home country for a couple of weeks. I can still imessage everyone else.
He has confirmed that his settings are correct, imessage on and phone number checked to receive imessages. He has no problems with his other contacts and can still imessage me. I hoped if he imessaged me, my phone would recognise it and allow me to imessage back, but it still wants to send text. I relunctantly deleted his message thread having seen that as a recomendation that worked for others, it didn't solve it, I have also deleted him as a contact and set him up again, it still didn't solve it.
My iphone has been re-booted, imessage switched off and on again, I've signed out and in again with itunes ID, still no luck. Yesterday I was required to update my phone software to 7.1.1 and hoped that might clear it, but still no luck.
I am running out of ideas now. This person is international for me so I desperately need imessage back as texting is costly. Can anyone help?

    Hello,
Are you using Apple Mail or MS Office Outlook for your email program?  It has been a know issue for some time now that MS Office 2011 Outlook does not sync contacts with Apple's Address Book.   This was true under Snow Leopard as well as in Lion.   It worked well when I had Entourage (MS Office 2008) in Snow Leopard but once I switched to Outlook 2011, the sync stopped.
Did you just start using Outlook 2011 or has this happened after you move to Lion?  Perhaps you could import your Entourage contacts into Outlook 2011?
Please let us know a bit more about your situation.

  • I turned imessage off on accident but then back on and now messages only send as text message, I turned imessage off on accident but then back on and now messages only send as text message

I turned my imessage off on accident and I turned it back on right away and now my messages only send as text messages

When you turned it on right away, did it  complete the activation process? When you go into Settings>Messages, does it show as activated? If not, then turn it off, wait about 15 seconds and then turn it on again. It should activate right away. If not, then see this support document http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4268

  • TS2755 i updated iOS 7 on my iPhone 4 and now am not able to use iMessage .  I have to send as text msgs.  what do i do now?

I updated my iphone4 with the update ios 7 and the subsequent update.  I have only had trouble with the i messages.  I have to "send as text message" about 90% of the time.   WHat do I need to do at this point?
    frustrated!!!!

An update is in the works, try this temp fix:
    1. Settings > Messages > iMessage = Off
    2. Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
    3. After the phone reboots: Settings > Messages > iMessage = On

    Hello Todd:
I had this very same problem when trying to activate iMessage and Facetime on my iPad. When I signed into my account, I actually wasn't even presented with the option of a phone number - notwithstanding the fact that I was contacting others (and being reached by others) by my phone number on my iPhone. Having both the iPad and the iPhone on, I kept trying to turn off and on both iMessage and Facebook in Settings on both my iPad and iPhone, hoping that that they would eventually sync. But this proposed solution by others was unsuccessful for me.
Then, I found out what the problem was: When my iPhone was activated, it automatically registered my phone number for contact purposes. I was using iMessage on my iPhone for quite some time without actually being signed into my Apple ID account. When another device - such as an iPad or iPod - is being used for iMessage or Facebook, you are prompted to sign into your Apple account, using your username and password. These two devices will not register your phone number as an option for contact unless your iPhone is signed into your Apple account as well. In other words: your phone number will not be synced.
Go into your "Settings" on your iPhone and click on "Messages". Scroll down and click on "Send & Receive" (which should be followed by your phone number). On the next page, you will be able to determine whether or not your iPhone is using the Apple ID for messaging purposes. (Note: This information applies for Facetime as well.) If it is using your Apple ID for messaging, than at the top, you will see "Apple ID: <your particular e-mail account>" in Blue text. However, if you are not using your Apple ID for messaging, than you will see the words: "Use your Apple ID for message". Even though below this you will see your phone number checked as the contact source, you will want to click the tab that says, "Use your Apple ID for message". Sign into your account (just as you must sign in for iMessage on your other devices), and just choose your phone number as the "Send & Receive" contact. (The option of the e-mail will be there too, but you don't have to check it. And later on, you can delete it as an option.)
Now that all of your devices are signed in using your Apple ID, the other devices should register your phone number as a choice. It may take a little while, however. What I did was sign out of iMessage on my iPad, and then sign in again. If the option didn't appear, I just went back and signed in again, and kept doing this until the option for the phone number appeared.
Again, this will work for Facetime as well. The solution is to sync your iPhone account with the other devices by using your Apple ID for messaging (and Facetime) purposes.
I hope that this works for you, Todd!   ~ Brian

  • How to send in iMessage instead of text message.

  • TS2755 unable to iMessage instead of texting to one number

My wife recently had her phone stolen, and ever since she got her new one, I am unable to initiate conversations with her via iMessage.  Any time I try to do so, my phone will only send a text message to her.  She can iMessage me, and I can reply to that with iMessages, but I cannot start a chat with her that isn't text-only on my end.
When I type in her name, the phone number shows up as green (for text only) even though she has an iPhone 5s.  She can (and does) send me iMessages on her own just fine, so I'm not sure what's going on.
I've already reset my network settings, logged out and back in of iMessage and (in case it's related as one website thought it was) Facetime.
Any help would be appreciated!  Thanks!

For example if the kids have your hand down devices, or to use your apps on more than one iDevice
What happens if you deselect the option to send as text if iMessage is not available on your phone?
