TS2755 Why can't I text without having iMessage on AND either wifi or CELLULAR DATA turned on? iPhone 5 VZ wireless
I just went apple Friday!! However, my "unlimited text and phone" isn't quite so with Verizon Wireless....my carrier for many years. I have found that since impart of the iMessage community, I no longer can technically "text" or at least I can't RECEIVE TEXT replies from people. It's like they are losing the messages hostage til I either turn ON the NOT Unlimited Cellular Data, or I sign to wifi. What the heck???? I'm hoping I've missed something and i did NOT just get scammed. Any thoughts?

Elitegate. The Whatsapp app is only compatible with iPhones. It will not install on any other device.
However, there are other texting apps like TexpPlus, Viber, Text Free that are compatible with later model iPods. -

I deleted a text converstaion on my iPhone5 and would like to retrieve it. Can this be done without restoring the phone and losing current messages?
Other people have already answered this sufficiently a couple times.
Restoring from a backup is all or nothing.
You can not pick apart a backup.
There are programs that can do that for itunes but not for icloud.
So if you have an icloud from when the conversatiion was still on device then you can restore from that backup
(it will be a total restore, all or nothing)
However if you do not have a backup from then or are not willing to restore everything that conversation is gone. -

You can with third party apps. You just can't use Messages in order to text since it only works with other iOS devices and Macs running Mountain Lion.

Looking for an app that I can save what I highlight when I am reading an article without having to copy and paste
I looked at Bento and at first glance I think it would do everything I want it to do, then I saw a review or something from a customer that indicated the information in Bento could not be exported (say to send out a mailing). I may want a program that can do that as well, is there one out there? If not it does look like Bento will work. When you save a picture to a customer in Bento can you open it up full size?

Why can I no longer, after having downloaded Lion, write accents and other diacriticals when in the Google, Yahoo, FaceBook, or even here in this post? The new method for getting at the "option" symbols works fine in other places like spotlight, but now even the older "option+letter" doesn't work in most places.
Chrome doesn't support the new accent/diacritics/macron chooser. I'm not sure about other browsers such as Firefox. You can use the old Option+letter combination that Doug suggested. Hopefully updates will solve these little incompatibilities shortly.

Thanks for the response. Must be smart phones. My daughter has a dumb phone and she can send out. I tried deleting my text messages on the Verizon website, but they won’t delete. It must be on their end. Chat line was busy forever, until they shut it down.

You need to discuss the problem with your carrier. If the phone indicates it was sent, it's getting an aknowledgement from your carrier that they received it. From that point on, it can only be your carrier, the receiving carrier or the interchange between the two that's the problem.
Does this happen with everyone you try to text, or just some people? You can set up a free google voice account and try texting to/from that. -

No.
A restore might not even fix it; a fair amount of the time, when the Wi-Fi is grayed out it is a hardware issue. -
