Tried all of the above steps - none of it works. My mac still lists my Iphone as not connected in network preferences despite being fully able to connect with Itunes.

  • Noskipws, resetiosflags( ios::skipws) does not work

    The following short program shows that 'noskipws' does not work:
    stringstream ss;
    string s;
    ss << "this is a test";
    ss >> noskipws >> s;
    cout << s << endl;
    This prints 'this' only and ignores the rest of the ss content. I tried using resetiosflags( ios::skipws) but this does not work either.
    Does anyone has any idea? Is this a bug in the STL implementation?

    Hi sjsaunders,
    I would like to know if there is a way to redirect the contents of stringstream into a string using the >> operator. I know I can use the stringstream::str() but this is not good for me as I'm using >> for data conversion such as converting into integer, float, string, etc.
    Thanks,

  • Personal hotspot in iOS 8.1 not available

    Hi,
    after upgrading to the new iOS 8.1 on my iPAD the personal hotspot is not available anymore.
    does anybody know how to share the mobile internet from my iphone/ipad under iOS 8.1?

    Read this discussion. It explains how to get it back again.
    Ios 8 personal hotspot is gone!

  • My personal hotspot is showing discoverable but not working.

    I can see that my personal hotspot is available in settings but it will not connect to anything

    Does your plan with your cell provider allow this?  Just because the option is there does not mean it will work if your plan does not support it.

  • ITunes 10.6.1 Update button for iOS update does not work (a bug)

    iTunes 10.6.1 Update button on iOS device Summary / Version page does not update devices. It only checks the iTunes version!
    With iTunes 10.6.1, connect an iPad, iPhone, iPod running pre-6 iOS version.
    On iPad Summary / Version page, next to  [Update] button the message says:
    "A newer version of the iPad software is available (version 6.0). To update your iPad with the latest software, click Update."
    However, clicking the [Update] button will not start update iPad. Instead it gives you a dialog saying:
    "This version of iTunes (10.6.1) is the current version".
    Obviously it should start updating the i-device there but instead just goes and check the iTunes version ?!?
    A Bug!
    What's really annoying in this bug is that it's the only way to update pre iOS 5.x devices, which is now impossible!
    Apple should get this fixed asap!
    Anyone found any workarounds?
    [Edit]: There seems to be another discussion of this issue already:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/19671173#19671173

    Just forgot to add, yes, I know there's iTunes 10.7 but it's only available on Snow Leopard and higher.
    The machine in question is an old macbook, running Leopard (10.5.8), that it will propably never get upgraded.
    Since most  my older i-devices were initially synced with that particular machine, I'll be now stuck with iOS updates, without loosing content.

  • Personal Folder Backup add-in does not work

    When I installed Office 2010, it migrated my Outlook 2003 setup successfully and the Backup add-in appears on the Add-Ins tab.  It is also shows up as being active in the Manage Add-Ins page.  The add-in is set up to run every day, but when I close Outlook 2010, it does not run.  If I trigger the add-in from within Outlook, the normal dialogue box comes up, and lets me select "Save Backup".  But it still does not run.
    I have tried disabling the add-in, removing it, and then re-installing it.  But it makes no difference.  Does it depend on any other add-in?  Has anyone else managed to get it to work?

    If you want to correct the issues you are having go to the following link and you will fix all you issues and be happy.  What you will want is at the bottom of this page that I write. It will do it all for you and you will see the fimialure backup once
    you do.
    http://www.msoutlook.info/question/421
    Due to changes in the graphical design of Outlook 2010 and technical changes in its shutdown behavior, the Personal Folders Backup Add-in works a bit different than expected when compared to previous versions of Outlook.
    Backup command
    The options menu for the Personal Folder Backup Add-in is now shown on the Add-in tabs in the Ribbon;
    The Backup Add-in “hides” itself on the Add-Ins tab in Outlook 2010.
    Shutdown changes
    Due to shutdown changes in Outlook 2010, the add-in will indeed no longer prompt you to backup when closing Outlook.
    You can either
    backup the pst-files manually, wait until an updated version will be released or apply the registry fix mentioned below.
    When adding the following key to your
    Registry, you’ll change the shutdown behavior of Outlook 2010 back to the shutdown behavior of Outlook 2007 SP2.
    Key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins\Microsoft.OutlookBackup.1
    Value name: RequireShutdownNotification
    Value type: REG_DWORD
    Value: 1
    Note: If you do not want to edit your registry manually, you can also apply the reg-file in this
    zip-download.

  • IPhoto sync with iOS Devices does not work

    I have an 2007 iMac with OS X 10.9.1, iTunes 11.1.3 and iPhoto 9.5.1.
    I have an iPad 2 with iOS 7.0.4 and iPhone 4 with iOS 7.0.4.
    Around the update to OS X 10.9 I have the problem that I can't sync my iPhoto pictures with my iOS devices anymore.
    Beforehand I had no problem. But I can't tell exactly when this problem pop up the first time. (iOS 7, OSX 10.9, iTunes or iPhoto update???)
    The problem is: I can sync all my content with my iOS devices per iTunes without any problemsbut not the fotos from the iPhoto library.
    If I go to the Foto sync page in iTunes I see all my iPhoto Albums, Events, ... I can select and desect all these items. But if I sync this items I see that in the used memory bar no pictures are shown, the foto count do not show any number and on the iOS device all pictures are removed.
    To fix this problem I have tried some options.
    I have disabled the foto sync in iTunes, close iTunes, close iPhoto, remove the iPod cache from the iPhoto library, recreated the iPhoto database, obened iPhot and iTunes again, connectd the iOS device and try to sync some albums from the iPhoto libray again. But no pictuers are synced.
    I have created a new iPhoto library and added some fotos to the new library, created some albums. Then I tried to sync the iOS device with this library. The first sync wored. :-). But then I disconnected the iOS device and later I connected it again and synced another time and all fotos are gone again.
    The only way I can sync my fotos is to switch to folder sync instead of iPhoto library sync. This work, but this is a very bad option!
    What can I do to fix this problem?

    Open the iPhoto Libraray with the Finder as shown in this screenshot
    and locate the folder titled iPod Photo Cache and move it to the Desktop.
    Close iPhoto, lanuch and try again.

  • IOS 7 DOES NOT WORK WITH UCONNECT SYSTEM!!!!! SOME SOLUTION FRON APPLE OR UCONNECT??? (or get android?)

    since iOS 7, no iphone can pair with Uconnect system from chrysler, dodge, jeep, ram and fiat
    no answer fron apple, neither from Uconnnect
    WHAT TO DO!!!!!!!!!   android???

    I suspect there are many users of iPhones that would disagree with your broad, sweeping statement.
    Frankly, if your statement were true, there would be many others here posting the same thing and that simply is not the case.
    Regardless, these are user to user support forums.  You will not get an official response from Apple here.  If you want/need a response from Apple, pick up the phone and contact them.

  • IPhone (3,3G,4) does not work with Apple Universal Dock.

    I have a 3rd generation iPod Touch that has been upgraded to iOS 4. My iPod Touch will no longer sync via the Apple Universal Dock. Also, my new iPhone 4 also will not sync via the Apple Universal Dock.

    Trust a geek not to give up. I decided to get to the bottom of the "iOS device does not work with the Apple Universal Dock" problem. I noticed that the iPhone 4 and iPad came with slightly different USB-Dock adapter cables. I wondered if that might be the issue. My Apple Universal Dock was connected to my Mac via the original dock adapter cables which are slightly larger. I connected the newer cables between the Mac and the Apple Universal Dock and .... voila! Both the iPod Touch with iOS 4 and the iPhone can now connect via the Apple Universal Dock. Apple changed something in the way the adapter cables function.
    Of course I still have the problem with the car head unit dock adapter ... Sigh. I'll have to call Best Buy ( uughh! ) and find out if they'll do the update for me. The were the vendor authorized installer.

  • Personal Hotspot does not work after update to 10.10.2

    Good morning!
    After my update to 10.10.2 on my MBP (15" mid 2010) my connection to the internet via personal hotspot (iPhone 5s, iOS 8.1.3) does not work.
    The MBP connect to the hotspot, but there is no connection to the internet. My iPad (Retina, iOS 8.1.3) works fine simultaniously with good bandwidth.
    Rebooting Mac, rebooting iPhone etc does not work.
    Anyone else has this problem?
    Any suggestions?

    Just saw same problem with a client's computer.
    MacBook Pro
    WAS 10.5.1.
    Installed 10.5.2, booted up. Fire up ichat, get your buddy list. Double click a name, says "Cannot Chat" in bold then says "Add at least one person to this chat before sending the first messsage." with an OK button.

    Hello, lustige luka.
    Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
    The Personal Hotspot feature using USB  should be as simple as connecting the device to your Mac via the USB cable when Hotspot is enabled.  Here is some more information regarding this feature and an article that will provide some troubleshooting steps if you are experiencing an issue.

    I'm talking about the PAID FOR "Personal Hotspot" AT&T feature that comes with a 4GB dataplan. If you have a Jailbroken phone then this isn't for you.... Anyway, upgraded to IOS 5 and at the worst possible time I discovered that my phone no longer had the ability to share it's over the air data with my Laptop. Restarting the phone didn't help, turning cellular data on and off didn't help and after hitting a wall I called AT&T's tech support number as I had a strong suspicion what the problem was and that they'd be able to help. Despite explaining the problem and proposing a quick fix the agent made reference to an internal memo saying there are bugs in IOS 5 and that my lack of tether was an Apple software issue and I had to call them. Frankly in this case it's VERY MUCH an AT&T provisioning issue, and one AT&T should have their techs deal with in 30 seconds rather than waste customer's time pointing fingers. After a long and frustrating attempt to get the tech to fix the problem I ended the call by CANCELLING my tether plan and going back to the "Regular" 2GB plan. Reason being hat if it's an IOS bug then it will be weeks I'm paying for service that I'm not getting, or if I was right the problem would be fixed on my next call to AT&T. For giggles I called and spent a very miserable 40 minutes dealing with Apple's IVR and nice but dim tech who was more concerned that I didn't have Apple care than anything else. That call ended with Apple saying it's not them and I should call AT&T support... However, instead of beating my head against the wall again I called SALES and asked them to add 4GB data and teher to my phone. 5 minutes later I had working tether. Problem solved. Basically to enable tether the phone has to pass a sanity check that it hasn't been tampered with, and then to activate the feature a fil is pushed down over the air to "Bless" the iPhone. I suspect as part of the IOS upgrade something went out of whack with either the file or the anti-tamper checks. Solution was to reprovision tethering, but AT&T support wouldn't hear of it. So, if you have lost tethering after an IOS 5 upgrade and AT&T support won't help then the solution is pretty painless. A) call customer service (not tech support) and CANCEL your tethering and extended dataplan. B) Turn your phone off for 5 minutes, then wait another 30 mins or so and call SALES. Ask them to add Tethering and extended data to your account. C) Wait another 30 minutes, or if you're impatient you can try turning your phone on and off again, and you'll be back in business. The down side to the is is you pay for two data plans for this month, but get a credit for the overlap next month (ie net you don't lose out). Hoping AT&T reads this and stops wasting everyone's time by enabling 1st level support to deprovision and then reprovision tether without messing with billing. We can live in hope, but until then I hope this may help someone being bounced around in a game of "Blame Tennis". Once again AT&T = All Twisted & Tangled!
