My iPod 4th generation doesn't Power Off.  Any idea how to force it to shut Off?

Try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.

Note iOS 7 is not compatible with the 4G iPod
As apple said in June, iOS 7 is not compatible with the 4G iPod touch.
All the iOS devices compatible (iPhone 4 and later, iPad 2 and later, and 5G iPod touch) with iOS 7 have at least 512 MB of memory (RAM). The 4G iPod only has 256 MB

  • I restored my software on phone and now I can't get anything. The screen just has an emergency call feature and when I call it , it doesn't ring.  Any idea how I can get back into the line?

How do I get the phone to work again?  It has no apps on it and the only thing I can do is make an emergency call and when I call it from another line I just get voicemail.  Before restoring I backed up the info but don't know how to get it restored on the phone.

  • Ipod 4th gen does not power up

My ipod 4th generation does not power up.  I charged 1 hour on computer and another hour via power outlet and reset the device by simultaneously pressing the sleep/wake button on top and the wheel in the lower front.  Nothing.  What do I do next?  I am looking at self-help replacing the battery, logic board or hard drive but do not know how to tell which one it is. Any help is appreciated.

    Have you tried everthing here:

  • I have had my ipod 4th generation for a year now and had not had any problems until now. My ipod no longer connects to my WiFi. i have reset my network settings, forgot my network and followed all of Apple's advice. Any ideas?

The WiFi isn't working on my 4th generation anymore. I have several devices connected to the WiFi which two of them are iPhone 5 that haven't had ant problems with WiFi. I have had my iPod for a year. I have tried everything and it still doesn't work. Any ideas? Thanks.

Does the iPod connect to other networks?
Does the iPod see the network?
    Any error messages?
    Do other devices now connect?
Did the iOS device connect before?

  • My FaceTime won't work on my iPod 4th Generation anymore. I don't understand why. A few weeks ago, it worked perfectly fine. Then I had updated it, and it does not let me verify my email.

A few weeks ago, my iPod 4th Generation's FaceTime was working fine. Until, unfortunately, a day or two after I had updated my iPod to the new iOS 5 software, it had stopped working. I'm not sure if this is just a coincidence, but it is bugging me. I've tried signing in, and it works, but once I get to the page where I must verify or put in an email address so you may FaceTime from, I am sent back to the sign in page. I have tried numerous times to sign in different accountsI have or just use different contact email. But, if I put in ([email protected]) for a sign in, and ([email protected]) for an address it may be called from, I always end up with the popup coming up and saying "Cannot verify because it is already in use. Although, no one knows any of my emails or passwords. I only have one email registered on my brothers iPad, but i try signing out of his and disabling it, so i may use it. But it doesn't work, in the past it did, I could even use an email for 3 iPods and iPads. but not anymore. i don't know what to do. Can i please get help?

  • Why won't iPod 4th Generation Click Wheel 40gb (non-photo)  charge?

I have an old but much-loved iPod 4th Generation Click Wheel 40gb (non-photo model) that I keep on a charging dock. Yesterday the screen went blank and it refuses to charge, so I assume the battery is dead.
Can anyone tell me if that's the reason?  If so, exactly what replacement battery I should get?  I've found replacement batteries listed for the iPod 4th Gen 40 GB photo and the 4th Gen 20 GB, but don't know if they'll fit.  Thanks so much for any information out there!

    hmm - curiouser and curiouser
I've now managed to get it to manually update (after iTunes took 100% of system resources and I had to force quit it...) but that still doesn't really help me with the auto-sync feature which still won't work

  • My iPod 4th generation isn't working as it should be

Ok so, I've had my iPod 4th generation, version 6.1.6, 32GB, for about 2 years now, and it WAS completely fine.. But then it started getting slower and slower until some apps started crashing, I thought it was normal at first, thinking it was just because it was getting old, but by the start of 2014 my home button was starting to not work properly, more apps started crashing and it started getting so slow to the point that it was useless! then about a month or two after this year started, none of my apps worked e.g. If I went on a game it would only last about 5 mins then crash, or if I went on Facebook, Instagram, pic collage or any other type of app.. They would just crash In the matter of 5-10 mins. At first it was only the downloaded/purchased apps that did this.. But now even apps like camera, photos, maps, music and App Store crash to... And also my home button has completely stopped working, you can feel that the button doesn't press down anymore either.
so, I've  heard ways to fix the problem by looking at all the other questions asked,But all of them are by resetting the iPod; and still keep all the apps although the data in them will go, or switching it off and on and stuff like that... But I've tried everything! Apart from resetting the iPod like new because I don't want to lose any of the data in the apps (and not just stuff like dates and written information, but game progress, and stuff on the actual purchased app).. I don't mind about the home button being broken because I've got that round circle thing on the screen to use.. It's just the fact that I can't go on any of the apps anymore and that the iPod is completely useless.. Please someone help? Anyway to fix this?

    Did you restore from backup?
Next would be to restore to factory settings/new iPod since maybe you have some corruption in the backup

We tried resetting ipod 4th generation using Apple instructions.  It will not turn on, but shows the charging symbol, with little to no battery power no matter how long it charged.  Any ideas?  We've had this for less than 5 months.
