I think you have an Accessibility feature turned on. Triple click the Home button and then try to go to Settings>General>Accessibility and turn all Accessibility features off. To scroll you may have to use three fingers. If proem see:

    Hi iKanji,
Is the screen stuck at a sync prompt? As I've had this happen with my iPhone many times in the past.... It's a strange predicament that you can get into and I don't now the cause...
At times I try to connect and disconnect my device from the dock connector until the device's OS realizes that one of the jobs are stuck and it reboots that prompt. Then all is fine.
Again this issue was with my iPhone and it was a lot worse before the 3.1.2 update. It happens very rarely now, and does come back to life once the OS of the device realizes that this is occuring. Until then, the screen and power buttons are totally useless..
Very frustrating, but this is the only solution I've seen work for me.
Good luck and let me know if this helps.

  • IPod Touch not recognized by ITunes, but IPhone is. What can cause only one device to not be recognized?

I have tried reinstalling ITunes and resetting my IPod Touch. The computer recognizes the IPod Touch as a connected device, but ITunes doesn't. However, ITunes will recognize other devices that I plug in with the same usb cord. ITunes diagonistics only says that no device is plugged in whenever the IPod Touch is plugged in. What can cause this combination of problems, and how could I get around it?

If you have iTunes 11 on the computer and are using the same cable that works with the iPhone then:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at

  • Ipod touch screen is not responding anymore!

i have a first gen ipod touch that i got in christmas of 2007.
it's only given me problems a few times, and i use it every day.
but lately, it's been acting really wierd.
a few weeks ago i went to use it. when i went to type my passcode i had to press the numbers more than once to get them to type. then after it was unlocked it wouldn't always respond to my finger. i would have to lock it then unlock it to get it to do something. i reset it a few times but that didnt help so i just put it down and when i used it the next day it worked fine, and it's been working fine until yesterday.
ever since yesterday the touch screen works for about three or four actions then i have to lock it and unlock it again to get it to work. and even after i do that, it stops working after a few touches or swipes. i've reset it a few times with no help and i even let it just sit there and charge all yesterday afternoon, last night, and today but it still wont work. even when i type my passcode, or even when its locked but i double click the home button to pause music - it still doesnt respond. but the home button and lock buttons work fine its just the home screen.
i want to do a restore, but what will happen if i do? will i lose everything thats on it??
what do you think i should do?

The backup you make before you restore includes information such as mail settings, notes, sound settings, widget settings, certain network settings, and other preferences including settings and data from third-party applications purchased from the App Store will be restored from the backup. Your music, videos, and applications will be reloaded by iTunes as they were before the restore. This article gives all the details and shows you the screens you will see during the restore: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414

I let my cuzin borrow my ipod and when she gave it back the screen was not responding, my volume button is pushed all the way in and the lock button doesnt work very well. Is there anything i can do to fix it or anywere i can get it fixed?

well unfortunatley your warranty is over so the device is not covered,  BUT sounds like you have interupting signals being sent from a stuck home button constantly being pressed and maybe even a digitizer problem (the touch screen).  You can try to restore your ipod to your computer to see if it might be some kind of software related issue.  Just restore to the last sync you have on iTunes.  But FIRST...I would try to Reset your ipod.
Go to Settings>General>Reset> Reset all settings.

  • My ipod touch 1g doesn't respond

Hi everyone, everything started when the home button got hard and stopped working, I found a tutorial of how to unassemble it and I found that the home button doesn't returned to its original position, so I put a plastic piece for fixing the home button, and I achieve it! but then suddenly the black cable of the battery broke, so I weld it back but maybe I did it wrong cause the metalic part of the logic board started to get warm. Then I look for anything wrong but I didn't found something suspicious. Later I rearmed the iPod and when I connected it for charging, an usb cable logo and a iTunes logo appeared on the screen. I supposed it was a signal for restoring the iPod. When I plugged it to the computer, iTunes recognize it and told me that needs restoration but it never does it, just gives an error message code 21 (software or antivirus interference with the restoration). I have NOD32 Smart Security and turned off the firewall and the antivirus, also I added some pages of apple in the exclusions list in order to avoid any problem, but I still recieving that message. Any idea??
    Thanks for your help.

    Error 20, 21, 23, 26, 28, 29, 34, 36, 37, 40
These errors typically occur when security software interferes with the restore and update process. FollowTroubleshooting security software issues to resolve this issue. In rare cases, these errors may be a hardware issue. If the errors persist on another computer, the device may need service.
Also, check your hosts file to verify that it's not blocking iTunes from communicating with the update server. See iTunes: Advanced iTunes Store troubleshooting—follow steps under the heading Blocked by configuration (Mac OS X / Windows) > Rebuild network information > Mac OS X > The hosts file may also be blocking the iTunes Store. If you have software used to perform unauthorized modifications to the iOS device, uninstall this software prior to editing the hosts file to prevent that software from automatically modifying the hosts file again on restart.
Did you try on another computer? If so then:
The "device may need service" means a hardware problem. Apple will not help since you took the iPod apart

  • IPod touch screen isn't responding plus warranty question

My brother just got a brand new 8gb iPod Tocuh for Christmas and today, all of a sudden, the screen (or touchscreen) has stopped responding. I connected to iTunes, backed it up, restored the iPod itself and then loaded the backup onto the iPod again and it still wouldn't work. I can only see myself taking it to the Apple Store as the possible solution. Any advice before taking it back to Apple?
The other problem is, the iPod was bought in the US and we live in Croatia. Being that the iPod is only a couple of weeks old, I'm sure the 1 year warranty is still valid but will they accept the warranty here at the local Apple store?
    Thanks

Sounds like it does need to be exchanged under warranty. I did notice you restoreed it using a backup. You may want to try restoring as a new ipod. Doubt it will fix it, but maybe. As for the warranty, it doesn't matter where purchased, the warranty is valid in any apple store. Good luck!
