TS2951 Re-installing Lion for Purchaser of MB Pro

Hi.  I just sold my 2011 MB Pro and performed a system restore to factory settings just prior.  I purchased Lion last July, but now I can't re-install it to upgrade from X to Lion for the buyer.  Any ideas?  Thanks!

10.7 Lion from the MacAppStore is your purchase, restore 10.6.3 from the disks and then tell buyer to upgrade it themselves.

I installed Lion OS X and Logic Pro won't run. I downloaded the 9.1.5 update: "An Eligible Logic Pro Version Was Not Found in the Applications Folder.  This Update require Logic Pro Version 9.0 or higher".  I have Logic Pro Version 9.1.1 installed.
I even pulled the dmg file into the Logic Studio folder in my applications directory and it still does not recognize it.  What do I do now?

    Niel:  Thanks.
For others benefit, here is what happened.
I had installed Logic Studio 9.1 some time ago.......not knowing what all the programs were nor what they did, I created a "Logic Studio" subfolder in my applications folder and put all Logic Studio programs into it so I'd know where they were and could review each at my leisure over time.
My assumption now is that when the updater looks for the Logic Pro program, it looks only in the applications folder.  It seems lame that it would not also look in the subfolders of the applications folder, but that apparently IS the way it works.  Because my Logic Pro program was located in the "Logic Studio" subfolder, the updater just didn't see it..hence the error message I received when I tried to update.
Solution:  I moved all the Logic Studio programs out of the subfolder and now they reside in the applications folder. Ran the 9.1.5 updater and it worked like a charm.

  • How many computers can you install Lion after purchasing from App store. My wife and I have our own Apple ID will it accept 2 different ID

I have a MacBook Pro and an iMac . My wife has a MacBook and an iMac. How many computers are you allowed to install from one download. We both use Apple products and have our own Apple ID. Can I download Lion on her computers after I have both of mine installed? Or does she have to buy LION again using her Apple ID# ?

A single purchase of Lion will allow you to download it multiple times as long as you use your Apple ID.
If your wife wishes to install Lion, she must sign into the App Store with your Apple ID.

  • Can I redeem the $20 after purchasing Mountain Lion for my new Macbook Pro

Hey there, I purchased a Macbook Pro in late June 2012, reading the redeem page for Mountain Lion 2 weeks ago it stated to come back after making a purchase of Mountain Lion, so I purchased the update and now realised i could of downloaded it for free, is it possible to get a rebate from Apple, or did I just waste $20????

Apple most likely won't give 20 dollars of store credit....you can always call them but I doubt they will let you redeem...in the end they want your money..

  • Mba with lion - install lion for free?

if i buy the new macbook air with lion (maybe next week), is it possible to install lion on my other devices for free?

If past history is any indicator, the backup media which will be included with your unit will be model specific. As such, it won't be usable for any other of your Macs. Moreover, the license will only permit legal use only on the one computer. However, that one license will permit multiple copies to be run on that one computer, if so desired. That has been confirmed.
However, as Mr Boyd points out, this particular OS X release is different in many respects. It just may be that no media will be included, and a backup will have to be downloaded. Whether that download will be the same for all users is yet to be seen. Really, any definitive answer is then only speculation.

  • INSTALLING LION for the first time how long does it take. The screen is white, nothing is happening?

Installing Lion on a new imac. How long does it take. The screen it white for awhile?

After downloading it, which can be like watching grass grow, it should take about 20-30 minutes. However, if it's a new computer, why would you installing it?

    Hi,
i have just purchased a new macbook pro but it has snow leopard installed. The genius`s said i can download lion for free from apple.. any body know the link for this. ??
    regards
    Keith

Of course, just going to the App Store will require that he buy it, and going to the Apple website does not provide anywhere for downloading Lion.  No offense, but you should avoid giving advice if you don't actually know if your advice works.
Keith, see the following page to get a code that will allow you to obtain Lion for free:

  • Performance unacceptable after installing lion on late 2007 MacBook Pro

I have a mid-2007 MacBook Pro with 2Gb of memory and a 2.4GHz Intel Core2Duo.  Since installing Lion, Safari is all but unusable, it takes forever to load, every page I try to load stops the entire computer with the spinning beach ball, I haven't even tried flash sites. iTunes hangs every time I download a podcast at the processing file stage.  I keep iTunes open to feed my AppleTV, but after a few hours of watching I have to restart iTunes because everything starts to hang.  To say nothing of what happens when iTunes starts automatically downloading podcasts.  Syncs with my iPad have been hit or miss.  The entire machine seems slow and sluggish.  I tried running one app at a time, and that helped some, but it didn't fix the problem.  I am assuming this is a RAM issue and have ordered more, but Apple said it would work with 2Gb of RAM.  I don't call this working.
So my question is does it save memory to run apps in full screen or should I keep them as just windows?  I have tried to kill all the extras, and I have been trying to just do one thing at a time, but I have honestly never had this kind of reaction to a new OS when the machine was in spec.  And I have been upgrading since system 7.  Is 4Gb going to be enough?  Is the processor just not fast enough to handle it?  Upgrading to a new machine is not an option at all, and I really like the working bits of Lion I have seen, but am I stuck?

I haven't done permissions yet, but I have rebooted several times. I had an issue with the superdrive not recognizing DVDs, so I zapped the PRAM and did the SMC thing.  Plus, I've tried rebooting just to see if that would help, but it has not.
I have been watching istat and there's some free memory but not a lot.  I was fine under snow leopard, I never had any troubles until I started running a lot of stuff at once.  I agree that this is almost certainly memory. It gets worse the more things I try to do at once.  Everything hangs whenever there's an operation to be done (syncing, downloading). It just feels like the machine is choking.
I saw an article earlier on one of the Mac RSSs that the writer was having problems with Safari consuming up to a gig of memory just sitting idle with a few tabs open.  I'm not going to bother with Safari until I put the memory in, Chrome runs pretty well, even if I can't really do the full-screen thing.  I guess at this point I'm just looking for help for what I can do to conserve memory until more arrives.  And I'm a little annoyed at Apple for saying Lion works with 2Gb of RAM when it really doesn't.  If you can't use the browser or the iTunes, how can you even hope to run Photoshop?  iMovie takes 5 minutes to load and when it does it's full of visual glitches.
I guess I'll try permissions and see if that helps. Thanks for your ideas though.

  • Credit to install Lion on my new MacBook Pro?

So, I bought my MacBook Pro a couple weeks ago and decided to swap hard drive to SSD; as a result, I just received my laptop yesterday.  I was told at the time of my purchase I would receive a credit to install Lion however, I haven't seen anything in the package, and don't see any credit on my Apple Store account.
Does anyone have any recommendations as to how I should proceed?
    Thanks!

  • Any install DVD for X-fi Elite pro with Win 7 ?

hello all of you, i wonder if there will be an install dvd for?X-fi Elite Pro on Win?7? and if so , where can i download it, is there an?other solution for the installation, instead of the Vista install dvd
    Thanks for your help?

I've since run a few more tests and have confirmed that my X-Fi is the hardware that is making my system lockup. I disabled it in the device manager and was able to play games all day with no problems, but with no sound of course. I also tried uninstalling all software related to the X-Fi and uninstalling the drivers, removing the card, restarting then reinstalling the hardware software and drivers. But the problem starts again while listening to music, playing games, or even watching video online or of my hard disk.

its more than 24 hours and i havent received the claim of mountain lion for my new macbook pro

Brace yourself - I've been waiting over 48 hours and Apple claims it will take up to 72 hours. After that, God only knows! Oh yeah, if you get your code there's a chance someone's already used it too!

  • Install files for Photoshop CS2 & Acrobat Pro 7.0

I recently lost my install disks for these two programs during a move. I had a backup of the install files (.dmg) for both but accidentally deleted the folder because I ran out of space on my backup drive. I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction on where I might be able to download the install files. I have valid licenses for both and have that information written down, but clearly in the event I have to do a reinstall of my OS, I'll not be able to install Photoshop or Acrobat. I am on a Mac Pro, OS X Leopard version 10.5.5. Any help is appreciate. Thanks Jen
