TS2972 An error occurred loading this content try again later

I get this error constantly while trying to watch content on my Apple TV. I have changed my Apple ID, reset to factory settings, rebooted my Mac, stood on my head and threatened the device with violence. Nothing allows me to watch content I have paid for. What is causing this? How long to wait until "later" is reached and I can try again? I have already expired one rental without watching it, so this is also costing me money. So Apple - how to fix? Does anyone have any suggestions what other voodoo I can use to fix this? If it helps, I have not changed anything in the past few days and I am operating the latest software. A clue may be that I can see the names if everything in the library, but I cannot see cover art.

He said he was RENTING a movie NOT downloading YouTube.
I have the same problem. Brand new ATV, and I cant get a update and I get this error when I tried to watch a rented movie. I will try the restarting options.

Hi everyone!,
I just bought a new Apple tv 3 gen which is great.
My situation is the next. I have an add hoc wifi which obviously cant connect with my ATV cause ATV doesnt have browser to set user password. This connection is not quite fast, so problem added to the previous. The thing is that I want to use my ipad 1 gen to airplay content to the apple tv. It works great with pictures and even music (my own library or spotify streamed music).
The problem comes when I try to airplay video from youtube or embedded video from safari so it keeps saying "an error occurred loading this content try again later".
I tried with my iphone 6 and with an iphone 5 and the same, no video from youtube nor web.
If I try to airplay a video that is inside my phone, it works flawlessly.
the specs say that you need at least 6mb connection, but that seems to stream directly from the ATV cause ATV doesn't have hd to store data, but my ipad streams it and plays it like a charm, but when I airplay to the apple tv got the problem.
I also can stream video from my old mac mini through the network using airparrot but it doesn't allow me to send audio, seems to be problems sending audio and video while streaming..
Any help?

Two problems seems to be causing this:
1- My poor download connection. Testing its speed barely reaches 1.5 download speed, though it's enough to stream movies with ipad, or computers.
2- the router I have connected to my antenna to create my own network. it is a normal 150 mbps tp-link range extender which is used to create a wifi. This 150 mbps might be much more than a half.
I have tried with a 300 mbps router and now I don´t get the error, but it seems that streaming with my ipad and airplay to the apple tv overloads the network and it loads quite slow in my atv.

How do I request a refund for a movie after receiving the "An error occurred loading this content. try again later." error?

I watched the first 11 minutes of a movie, paused and then when I tried to play again recieved the error - An error occurred loading this content. try again later. No amount of retrying later fixed the problem. I will not be able to finish watching the movie within the required 24hour window so would like to request a refund. Can anyone provide any guidance on how I go about that? Thanks.

helps. It was working fine until we did a upgrade that showed up on the Apple TV.

Try the following steps, check whether things are working after each step where appropriate, before trying the next.
Restart the Apple TV (Settings > General > Restart).
Restart the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
Restart your router.
Reset the Apple TV (Settings > General > Reset > Reset all settings)
Restore the Apple TV (Settings > General > Reset > Restore)

I have the same problem I use a BT home hub the old white one and a iPad 4 if I reboot the hub it works ok for pics and some I player content then when I try to load a certain program it crashes and I need to reboot the hub again. Is this a problem with the hub?

I usually use Filmon app and air Video app from my iPad I also use Unlocator which you have to change your DNS but I had this problem even before I used UnlocatorI don’t know exactly what kind of network is (I am in Cyprus) but if this would help when I set up my Time Capsule I had to use the (over the bridge)

TS2972 An Error Occurred Loading This Content Please Try Again Later

This seems to be a pretty common issue that many of us users are having. But mine is a bit different...
I had had no problem at all in the first 3 months of using my ATV, but then all of a sudden during a Tv Show i was watching via Home Sharing the error appeared, mid show!
I have tried exiting to the main menu, restarting, rebooting anything and everything connected to eitehr my laptop, ATV, Router and TV.
All of the files are mp4s and open in itunes no problem, and if I load them on to my iPad and start watching through the TV from the iPad's AirPlay it works fine.
Some files work sometimes but not other times, and there seems to be no rhyme or reason as to why some work when others don't.
Has anyone got any ideas of what the problem is and how I can fix it?!

An error occurred loading this content when we hit play. We have been getting it for 3 days. Today I bought another rental and we are getting the same error. We have tried rebooting and also resetting. We are unable to get the movie. The Netflix is good.

Now that's an interesting comment you make, out of interest do you have any purchased HD movies in your iTunes collection, if so, do they play on the Apple TV with your new tv.

My apple tv is not working. I have rented 4 movies and I cannot open any of them. My Apple TV is located in USA. Anywy I am traveling at the moment outside US, but cannot watch my rented movies. I have 4-5 mbps for Downloads. It works fine when opening websites and downloading large files from the Internet. I have set-up my IP to "automatically" as you suggested, even though I believe this was the default setting.
I changed the resolution in Settings > Itunes Store > Video Resolution from 1080p to 720p. Then I rented again "Salmon Fishing in the Yemen", (but now using HD 720p) and I get exactly the same error.
Then I changed it to Standard Definition and now is working. Basically what I have found out is that if I rent movies in HD 1080p or HD 720p it will simply not work.
I believe 4-5 mbps is very fast internet connection, so the errors above should not be appearing.
Feedback for Apple TV developers is to show estimated time for full downloads when using 1080p or 720p so the user can understand what is going on. Very frustrating as I just bought the Apple TV for watching HD movies. I have a 55" HD Sony Bravia tv ready to be used... !!!

Apple TV 2G "An error occurred loading this content. Try again Later"

I recently got an Apple TV 2G and also upgraded my Macbook Pro to Mountain Lion. Last night I was checking out what the apple tv can do, and found an issue. I have several movies and tv shows that are in my itunes account on my Macbook Pro. When I try and play them on the apple tv, their thumb nails come up, once you select the movie it takes to to the spinning wheel of death for about 5 minutes and the comes back with an error stating "An error occured loading this content. Try again Later." I've tried reseting it, un plugging it, restarting my computer. The funny thing is that the apple tv can see the movies and can even see the thumb nail for the image but it just wont play. I also tried to airplay and it works great. Which makes me believe its not a wifi issue or a firewall issue either. I've read a few other discussion boards about the same issue with renting movies/tv shows. But theses movies are all on my home computer, and play fine on my computer too. I also tried to see if it was a certain type, but ones that I uploaded onto my computer and purchased from the itunes store both won't work. I was also watching hulu plus and that works great, so streaming doesnt seem to be a problem. If someone could please give me a few pointers on what to do before I go crazy that would be great.

I get the same response and I rented two different movies 1st thinking that the Kings Speech was just over sold. So Rented and paid for a second movie. So I tried something else I and get the same error message and I have been trying to get the movie to download.
I have been at this for about three hours.

I get this message when trying to stream from youtube with my apple tv 2g since one week, i've restored with the new ios 5.1 but the problem still exists. i've tried with another ISP and the problem gone, so i'm wondring how it is possible.

Sound like it problem with your ISP then. I've had a similar problem with youtube in the past, but it always been resolved with the steps I gave you. My internet radio has worked for 2 WEEKS, really annoying!
