OK, I just got off of the phone with Apple and still no joy. They had me try a few things that did not work, then told me to Archive and Install, which did not either. Anyway, thanks for the additional help very note worthy, but still no joy. Also an email to iTunes Support took me here
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93061
I have a Users/Shared folder but since the files we are talking about are invisible, I can see how it is structured.
And by the way I tried this one
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=3577004#3577004
and it did not work. However, when I install a fresh copy of Tiger on the external it did authorize the computer and was able to play the downloads. But coping the invisible file to my boot drive was not successful. But , like I said the music did play when I started up from the external. So I guess that may be my only solution, unless someone can tell what the correct directory is and where it for iTunes downloads.

  • How to set Port Forwarding for video chat with AIM user?

I'm trying to setup video chat between my Mac in the US (with iChat 3.1) and my friend's PC in Japan (with AIM). I need to know what ports needs to be forwarded on my friend's router, and/or on my router.
Right now, when I attempt video chat with my friend (in Japan) at my home network, the invitation only works one way (me -> friend). And when I try to do it at work, it doesn't work at all.
    Help appreciated,

    Hi,
I am also having a similar problem that perhaps others can help with.
I'm using an iMac G5 with iChat here in the States, and am trying to connect to my parents' PC running AIM 5.5 on Windows XP sp2. To complicate matters, my parents have a Belkin wireless modem/router that they use to connect to the Internet.
Currently, I can text chat with my parents, and send files to them via iChat. However, whenever I try to initiate a video chat, I get an error saying that "Phil Waymouth" (i.e. my computer) isn't responding.
This is where we are at the moment:
    - Internal firewall on my G5 is turned off. I can port scan login.oscar.aol.com fine for both TCP and UDP.
    - XP firewall on my parent's computer is on, but has UPnP Framework (ports TCP 2869 and UDP 1900) set up as an exception.
    - I've gone through the stages on http://portforward.com to set up Port Forwarding on my parents' Belkin router. In addition, we've enable UPnP on the router and restarted it. However, if we use www.myip.dk to get the IP address of one of their computers, and attempt to port scan it, it fails.
It feels like it's still either their router, or some ISP issue that's the problem?
I apologise for re-hashing the same problem, but perhaps someone here will have a lightbulb moment!
    Any help is much appreciated,
    Phil

  • How do you port forward on an airport express?

So I am trying to port forward because of my minecraft server. I have made the server yet i am trying to port forward. I found my IPv4 and I put it in the DCHP reservations, I also added the MAC adress. Then I went to port settings and in every port I have put 25565, I went to server.properties and checked if that was the port and it was. Then in the Private ip I put the IPv4 in. I have done all steps but My friends arent able to join it. Did I miss a step in the process?

Let's backtrack to your current network configuration. Is the AirPort Express the only router in your network? That is, is it connected directly to an Internet modem and not to another router upstream of it? Regardless, what is the make & model of that modem?
Does your ISP provide you with a dynamic or static public IP address? Is that address reachable from the Internet or do they have you connected to their private network?
Does the Minecraft server have a static or dynamic local IP address? Is it running a software firewall?

  • How do you set up Port Forwarding for ARD 2.2 in AEB N?

    Help,
I'm a novice at Apple Remote Desktop (ARD) - not an IT guy, so it has to be pretty basic and detailed.
How do you set up Port Forwarding for ARD 2.2 on the Apple Airport Extreme BS router, 802.11 N. I have one at each end of the internet connection. At one end I have an Airport Extreme N router with 2 macs and eventually 1 windows XP machine (if I can) that I would like to be able to connect to over the interenet (the clients) and at the other end, I have a Mac with ARD 2.2 installed also with an Airport Extreme N router. Note: Both routers use Static IP addresses and all computers use static IP's internally not through DHCP. What are the settings or directions to do this.
I have read and printed out the directions for Configuration of ARD 3.0 that are posted many times in the ARD discusion group, but it uses a Linksys router ( http://www.starkpr.com/ard.htm posted by Dave Sawyer). The Mac router is different, particularly with the place to set a Private IP address. I'm not sure about alot of things, but especially about the Private IP address, what number do I set it to, the one that is in my Network connections list? It automatically changes to a different number in AE N setup for Port Forwarding (by one) as if it is not suppose to the same?????
Are there any directions available that are as straight forward for the Airport Extreme N router, as the one's that are listed here for the Linksys Router's? ( http://www.starkpr.com/ard.htm )
Any and All help will be greatly appreciated.
P.S. I know I should have 3.0 but bought 2.2 just weeks before 3.0 came out and they would not give me an upgrade price, so I'm waiting for 4.0 to upgrade.
    Thanks,
    Jim

Try the following for each AirPort Extreme ...
    AEBSn - Port Mapping Setup
To setup port mapping on an 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn), either connect to the AEBSn's wireless network or temporarily connect directly, using an Ethernet cable, to one of the LAN port of the AEBSn, and then use the AirPort Utility, in Manual Setup, to make these settings:
    1. Reserve a DHCP-provided IP address for the host device.
    Internet > DHCP tab
o On the DHCP tab, click the "+" (Add) button to enter DHCP Reservations.
o Description: <enter the desired description of the host device>
o Reserve address by: MAC Address
    o Click Continue.
o MAC Address: <enter the MAC (what Apple calls Ethernet ID if you are using wired or AirPort ID if wireless) hardware address of the host computer>
    o IPv4 Address: <enter the desired IP address>
    o Click Done.
    2. Setup Port Mapping on the AEBSn.
    Advanced > Port Mapping tab
o Click the "+" (Add) button
o Service: <choose the appropriate service from the Service pop-up menu>
    o Public UDP Port(s): 3283
    o Public TCP Port(s): 3283
o Private IP Address: <enter the IP address of the host server>
    o Private UDP Port(s): 3283
    o Private TCP Port(s): 3283
    o Click "Continue"
o Click the "+" (Add) button
o Service: <choose the appropriate service from the Service pop-up menu>
    o Public UDP Port(s):
    o Public TCP Port(s): 5900
o Private IP Address: <enter the IP address of the host server>

  • How do you change the user for Home Sharing on the Apple TV?

I need to change the user on the Apple TV for Home Sharing but can't figure how or where to do it in the Apple TV settings. Can anyone help? Thank you.

I bought my ATV at the Apple store Zurich Switzerland.  All the movies default to German. I hired a US movie and pressed and held the play/pause button once the movie had started but only the chapter menu displayed and there were no options to change the language (from the default German to English)
Are all movies flagged on Swiss accounts only available in German? Is there a way of pointing my ATV to a different server.

What am I doing wrong !
    Thanks,

For "Unknown-7c-dd-90-05-5e-df" the bit in bold should be the MAC address of your camera. It is normally printed on the device somewhere.
You can rename this if you wish, by editing the name to something more appropriate.
You should have a created a custom rule called mikes-camera, which with:-
    Protocol TCP
    Start port 8080
    End port 8080
    Mapped to 8080
    Leave the rest blank.
You should be able to assign this to the device.
A lot depends on which version of the home hub you are using.
What I have found by experience, is that it is better to use a static IP address, if your device supports it, as DHCP can be a bit unreliable when port mapping is involved.
You can use a static address outside of the DHCP range. Like 192.168.1.50.
You can still forward ports to it, by selecting the device by its IP address, not its name.
If you can view your camera within your own network, using http://192.168.1.69:8080 then you just need to persevere with the port mapping.

  • I have the new Air Port Extreeme model A1521 and I need to set up port forwarding for HTTP. HTTP is not on the list in the set up. Does anyone know if any of those choices work for HTTP?

I am on a Windows 7 Ultimate PC and right now there is no Airport utility for setting up the new Apple Extreme so you have to do it on your iPad or iPhone. Does anyone know how to set up port forwarding for HTTP to get to DVR security cameras? There is nothing in the list that indicates HTTP port forwarding.

Thanks for your reply Tesserax as I did figure this out on my own. It took a bit because all of the options are not clear what they are for like the previous Airport Extreme and Apple does not support or guarantee that port forwarding will work for you application nor did any of the Apple support persons I spoke too have any knowledge for this feature. You also have to fill in the public if you are viewing through someone else's Wi-Fi or on your cell phone carrier network. This new Airport Extreme is a bit different since you cannot use the Airport utility on a PC like the older model and if anyone else is reading this they should be aware that if you do not have an Apple computer, iPhone or iPad and I'm not sure if some of the other network enabled devices like iPod Touch that you must use that can do it, there is no Airport utility for the PC and you would be wasting your money or have to take it back and get another brand wireless router to use if you do not own any of the above mentioned Apple products.

  • Help with port forwarding for the WRT54G

    I need assistance please!
I am having issues trying to setup port forwarding for a ftp. I already have set this up for a SQL Server port and it works remotely. When I setup another rule for ftp using port range 20-21 it does not work.
I have confirmed that I have saved my settings, have the correct IP address, etc. I have firmware version 4.21.1 and not sure how to troubleshoot this. Any help would be great.
    Thanks,
    John

Yes you do need to have the port already forwarded for port 20~21 with both TCP/IP and UDP enabled unless you know for sure your ftp only uses just one of them.  That is why I asked what port your SGL was set to.  Follow the link that other guy posted and open port 20 and 21 (I only use 21 with no problems) and make sure it is directed to the IP of the ftp host.  Also that PC needs to have the FTP enabled in windows.  To do that go to your control panel > add/remove software > and on the left side go to add/remove windows components.  Then check the box for the ftp and add it.  It should ask for your windows CD do have it handy when you add the ftp component to your PC.

  • Port forwarding for WOW

    Hello,
Just a TC today and cant find any info on how to port forward for the TC. Anyone have any clues?

Sorry, I don't have a TC, but the port mapping (forwarding) steps should be the same as for the 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn).
    AEBSn - Port Mapping Setup
To setup port mapping on an 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn), either connect to the AEBSn's wireless network or temporarily connect directly, using an Ethernet cable, to one of the LAN port of the AEBSn, and then use the AirPort Utility, in Manual Setup, to make these settings:

o MAC Address: <enter the MAC (what Apple calls Ethernet ID if you are using wired or AirPort ID if wireless) hardware address of the host computer>
    o IPv4 Address: <enter the desired IP address>
    o Click Done.
    2. Setup Port Mapping on the AEBSn.
    Advanced > Port Mapping tab
o Click the "+" (Add) button
o Service: <choose the appropriate service from the Service pop-up menu>
o Public UDP Port(s): <enter the appropriate UDP port values>
o Public TCP Port(s): <enter the appropriate TCP port values>
o Private IP Address: <enter the IP address of the host server>
o Private UDP Port(s): <enter the same as Public UDP Ports or your choice>
o Private TCP Port(s): <enter the same as Public TCP Ports or your choice>
    o Click "Continue"
