TS2972 the airplay button disappeared from itunes

while using itunes to play music to my apple tv I had accidentally hit computer and the airplay icon on the bottom of itunes disappeared and I have not been able to access my library on my apple tv since.

Weird, but I also though it was gone -- until I saw that it is a different, weird icon now. Look in the same spot for an icon that looks more like a square and triangle. Click on it and you'll get the Airplay functionality. Still -- why did they change it???

every time i close my macbook and open it the airplay icon disappears from both the menu bar and itunes or i get an error when i try to use it
do you know why and how to solve this problem?

    Hi Colin,
A couple of things you can try:
Open System Preferences and click on Network. Click on the small gear icon below the list of connections and select Set Service Order. Move your AirPort connection up to the top of the list so it will be first in line when your computer searches for connections. (It's probably looking for ethernet connections first..the normal default..and finding none, it then looks for wireless. This takes time.
Click on your AirPort connection again to highlight it and then click Advanced in the lower right of the pane. Make sure your wireless network is at the top of the list. Delete other networks that you don't need.
Finally, make sure there is a check mark in the box next to "Remember any network this computer has joined".
See if one of these actions will help.

  • The share button disappeared from my Facebook add-on just before I upgraded to Firefox 5.0. I thought by upgrading and reinstalling the add-on it might come back, but it didn't. All other FB buttons are there, near as I can tell. Any ideas? I'm using XP3.

  • Airplay icon disappears from iTunes

    Hi,
I recently bought an Airport Express (last generation) to be able to hear my iTunes music collection on my stereo. The Airport Express is connected to my home router via ethernet cable (WiFi is disabled) and is configured to only work as an Airplay device. It works flawlessly from my iPhone and iPad, either using the builtin iOS music app, Spotify, or any other app that supports Airplay.
But that's not the case with iTunes on my PC (Windows 8.1). The Airplay icon keeps disappearing from iTunes and the only way I can get it back is by disconnecting the ethernet cable from the Airport Express and connecting it again. There are two situations where the Airplay icon disappears. One is if I put the computer to sleep. When it wakes up the Airplay icon is gone and I can't get it back unless I disconnect the ethernet cable (or reset the Airplay). But sometimes I'm hearing some music via PC, then switch to Spotify on the iPad, and when I get back to the PC the Airplay icon turns orange and I can't connect to the Airport Express. Then it disappears. It doesn't always happen.
I've already tried every solution that I read in these forums but nothing works. I've disabled the windows firewall, disabled IPv6, configured the Airport Express with a fixed IP address, etc. etc. Nothing seems to work. The only thing I haven't tried is connecting my PC and Airpor Express via WiFi to the router, because my PC is a desktop and doesn't have an WiFi card. Right now it is connected via ethernet cable to the same router as the Airport Express, so it shouldn't be a problem, I guess.
Can anyone please give me any advice? I'm really frustrated, because having to disconnect the network cable from the Airport Express every time I turn on my computer so I can hear to some music is very annoying.
Thanks in advance for any help.
    Best regards,
    Pedro

Hello, I have this exact same problem -- Airport Express bought Feb. 2014 (not sure of firmware version?) Windows 8 PC, multiple iPads, iPhones in home. Wireless provider Comcast in S.F. Bay Area (using their Xfinity modem / router) extremely reliable and very fast for 10+ years.
Every few days Airport Express icon in iTunes on Windows PC turns orange and requires PC reboot. Upon reboot, streaming music works fine. Have also tried all other fixes found on Support forums, etc.
On iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4S and both iPad 2s Airport Express icon is always available and always seems to work fine.
Strangely enough, after replacing iPhone 3GS with iPhone 5s (yesterday!), Airport Express was not available on new iPhone, but after quick reboot of Airport Express, new iPhone was able to stream music...
Windows 8, iTunes, etc. updated w/ latest versions, etc.
Definitely a pain having to re-boot PC every few days to re-connect to Airport Express...

  • Airplay button gone from itunes

I have an apple tv 3rd gen running software 6.0 and I have lost my airplay button on itunes software 11.1 a couple of days ago. I can air play from my iphone 4s and my ipad 3rd gen both running ios 7 but not from my windows 7 pc. All devices are on the same network and show up in my router under devices. I have restarted my computer, apple tv, and router to see if this fixes my problem with no luck. Has anyone run in to this and/or have suggestions?

I'm not sure what fixed mine, but I did the following:
Uninstalled all itunes software (inc. bonjour, apple mobile device, etc)
    Restart computer
    Install itunes again
    Restart computer
    Airplay was still not there
Switched back and forth to mini player a couple times.
Airplay icon returned to the main player.
I tried the mini player several times before uninstalling itunes, and it didn't work.

  • AirPlay support disappeared from iTunes 11

Help states AirPlay support button should be next to volume slider, but it is not there.

Having a similar problem - Have airplay set up and working (after several hours of troubleshooting) with ipad and iphone). I have windows vista running itunes 11. The Airplay icon in iTunes appears  dissappears after I select my airport express. It shows up in the mini player, but my airport express is not in the list of devices. When i switch back to full player, the icon is still not there. Even after iTunes restart, it doesnt appear. Only after reboot will the icon reappear again in full mode, but it just repeats the same behaviour (dissappears after selecting my airport express).
    Any advice would be appreciated!
    Tim

  • Why does the AirPlay selection disappear with iTunes radio?

Usually there is a selector icon next to the volume slider at the top of the iTunes window that lets you choose among speakers and airplay devices. Why does this icon disappear when an iTunes radio station starts playing? After doing some trial and error, the option only disappears for certain stations.

I used iTunes open stream at http://kera-ice.streamguys.us/keraliveaacplus.m3u
    works fine

  • Why has the airplay symbol disappeared from ipad 2 after update?

I responded to an IOS update request and now the ipad 2 does not show the airplay symbol. Both devices are on and connected to the wifi. Switching both on and off has not resolved it. It seems t o be a well known problem but this non tech savvy guy cannot fix it.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Try the following steps, check whether things are working after each step where appropriate, before trying the next.
Check AirPlay is turned on on the Apple TV (turn it off and on if it already is)
Check that both devices are on the same network (Settings > Wifi, on the mobile device and Settings > General > Network, on the Apple TV).
Restart the Apple TV (Settings > General > Restart).
Restart the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
    Restart your router.
    Restart your mobile device.

  • HT204291 My airplay button disappeared from iPad and iTunes. What do I do?

    Thanks!

Try restarting the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds, or resetting it using the reset option under general. You should also try restarting your router and other devices.

  • Airplay icon disappears from iTunes when I connect a third idevice

I own an iPad 2, an iPhone 4 and Iphone 4S. After a clean install of itunes, Airplay works well. When I plug in first 2 devices (no matter which one and in what order), everything works well for several days with several reboots of PC. When I decided to connect the third device, Airplay still works but after rebooting the PC, the icon disappears completely! However I always see my 3 devices in sync by WiFi.
I made the test twice by changing the order of connections between devices, and the result is the same: Airplay works with 2 connections but no more after the third’s?
Windows 7 64bits and iTunes is up to date.

  • Where are movies shared to Apple devices stored exactly? When I shut down FCPX the shared movie disappears from iTunes.

    FCPX v10.2
    Destination settings:
    Apple Devices 1080p
    Video Codec: H.264 Better Quality
    Resolution: 1920x1080
    Add to playlist: Library
Many thanks for anyone who can help me before I completely lose my mind!

"Just to be clear, when you use the show in Finder function in iTunes it takes you to the share folder inside the FCP bundle, is that correct?" - correct
From my iTunes preferences the  /Users/(myusername)/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Home Videos
I added that subfolder to distinguish home videos from purchased movies.
    thanks for your help btw!

  • TS4062 Are there any other tricks beyond those that Apple lists here to get my iPad to sync over WiFi?  When I unplug it from the computer, it disappears from iTunes, even with WiFi sync turned on.

This worked on my old Mac mini with Snow Leaopard.  It does not work on my new mini with Lion.  My iPhone is not having any problems.

I have the same problem with my iPad mini and WiFi manual sync sync from and to iTunes 11.  The iPhone4S and iPad2 I also synch the same way work fine.  All devices have the same newest version of iOS 6.0.1

  • Airport Express connected but keeps disappearing from itunes

    HI,
I have an airport express which is connected to some speakers and I'm using Airplay to stream music from Itunes to the speakers.
However the speakers keep disappearing from itunes.  If I reboot the Airport Express they reappear, then have a few hours will disappear again!
In all cases I can connect to the Airport using the configuration utility and I can ping the device, so I don't think it's a problem with the Wifi, just with Airplay.  Also the Airport express is only 4 meters from the Access Point.
I have two windows 7 machines, both using itunes (latest version) and a MAC - all machines have the same difficulty with the speakers intermittently disappearing.
Also on the network I have 2 x TVs and a Bowers and Wilkins Zeppelin - all working fine with Airplay.
The Airport Express is on version 7.5.2 and is using a static IP address.
    Any Thoughts anyone?

Did you disconnect the cable modem's power supply before re-connecting it and then attaching the AirPort Express device? Be sure to pull the power spike—don't just use an on/off switch.
On some older cable modems, it's necessary to leave the power cable unplugged for up to 12 hours or so.

  • TS2972 Cannot find the airplay button on iTunes. I have version 11.01

I have version 11.01 of iTunes and cannot find the airplay button.
I want to send my music and photos to my Apple TV

It's not automatic. You have to set up iTunes Sharing in iTunes Preferences>Sharing>Share my library.
Then in your AppleTV go to Settings>Computers>Turn on HOme Sharing.
