Then make sure the device you're trying to pair with is supported and is in pairing (discoverable) mode.
What exactly are you trying to pair with?

  • Bluetooth continuing to search for devices  in jeep hand free

I paired the iphone 3g to my jeep "u conect" hands free, it paired ok but every time I go out of the car the iphone will never be available, tried a different phone and my car system work great, how can i fix the Bluetooth continuing to search for devices and will not conect to the car system

What year is your Jeep? There are a couple of other threads here regarding chyrsler (and other ) vehicles not connecting with phones that have software version 2.0 or higher.
As best as I can tell, it affects 2007 and later chrysler vehicles with Uconnect but not the MyGig system (supposedly there is a patch that you can use to update the MyGig software that may or may not work).
I spoke with an apple tech support person and he couldn't help. They didn't have anything in his help files to fix the problem and he actually turned to the message boards to get more info.
That being said, like someone else said, take the time to fill out some feed back.

If you look at the rest of the bluetooth forum...there are tons of blue tooth issues out there. Might speculate that the only way to make the chrysler issue a priority is to make yourself heard. I personally don't know if there is a better method than the above feedback tool. But, if there is, I'd like to know.
If you are 2006 and earlier...according to others on here, you should be able to get it to work.

  • Bluetooth continuing to search for devices

I have a new Jawbone headset which has paired fine with my iPhone 3G. However, the "Devices" status is continuing to spin in search of other bluetooth devices and won't stop. I'm concerned this will kill my battery. My assumption was that after pairing with the headset, it would stop searching.
Any ideas on how to get it to stop searching for devices?
    Thanks.

It searches for discoverable devices +while you are in Settings > General > Bluetooth+, and for a brief period of time after that. It does not continue after that and will not drain your battery. Of course, if you go to Settings > General > Bluetooth to check, it will start searching - sort of like checking to see if the fridge light is off by opening the door.

  • In settings on my ipad the Bluetooth is constantly searching for devises. How do I make it quit searching.

In settings on my ipad the Bluetooth is constantly searching for devices. Why doesn't it stop or how do I stop it from searching and automatically connecting to devices?

If you do not set your device in discoverable mode, the iPad will never find them.

  • HT204368 iPhone continues to search for bluetooth devices even when connected thus affecting battery.

iPhone 4S continues to search for bluetooth devices even though it is connected to one.
Can this be stopped to save battery?

Why do you believe this is true?  If you're looking at the bluetooth settings page, simply opening that page in settings initiates the search. It stops when you close it.
Like the light in your fridge.

  • I cannot get my iPhone 5s to Bluetooth pair with any device - it is continually searching for devices

I want to pair my iPhone 5s with the Mini Boombox I was using with my iPhone 3Gs.
Once the iPhone Bluetooth setting has been switched on the 5s just continually searches for devices and finds nothing - although the Boombox is beside it on my table (yes, and switched on).

    Hello Ken,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with your new Bluetooth Mini Boombox.  I am sure you are eager to use your new speaker.
I recommend reviewing the following article for steps to troubleshoot the issue you described:

  • Since reconnecting bluetooth on my 3G after accidently dropping (the ap not the phone) I have successfully reconnected only to find the phone continuously searching for devices. To stop excessive draining of the battery I turn bluetooth off.

After successfully reconnecting my 3G iPhone to bluetooth (I accidently dropped bluetooth) the phone contantly searches for devices. Everything works fine now but it appears the battery is draining more rappidly because the phone is constantly searching in the background. I turn bluetooth off when I exit the but it drives me nutty. Any suggestions?

Is it possible to find out what serial or UDID info is stored on iCloud being used by the FindMyIphone site?  The FMI website doesn't show anything but the name and the device image (which is a generic iPhone image, and definitely not the 5S )
    Unfortunately not.

  • HT201401 My bluetooth is no longer working in the car - it keeps 'searching' for devices

My bluetooth is no longer working in the car - it keeps 'searching' for devices.  Anyone ever had this issue?
    Thanks

Can you connect from your phone to another BT device, not the car?  If you haven't ,I'd try a reset of the phone by holding the home and power button down.  Next step would be to talk to your dealership and see if they have any ideas. Sometimes software can either get updated on iOS or on the vehicle and it can cause problems.  Every dealership seems to have a go-to person that handles issues like this.  Getting to know him or her well and getting their direct phone number will pay big dividends.  A device restore might be necessary, but if it were me I'd talk to the dealership first.

  • HT3887 I am trying to  pair my iphone 4 to my 2011 Kluger KX-R.  I have turned bluetooth on my phone but it keeps searching for devices and can not find any.  My computer can find my phone but my phone can not find my computer.

I am trying to pair my phone to my 2011 Toyota kluger KX-R.  I have turned bluetooth on my phone but it keeps searching for devices and can not find any, including my computer.

No worries. Often after iTunes updates you have to reconnect your device in order for iTunes to see it. Happens to me all the time!

I have the same blueparrott headset headset with the directions. Actually reading them just fixed my iphone pairing issue.
Here they are in case u still need them along with what I needed to do to get mine to work with iphone 4
    Pair Headset with Phone
    Turn off headset off
Hold down headset's MFB (large top button) until red & blue lights flash and you hear 2 rising tones, followed by 4 more tones. Must wait for all before you release the MFB button!! (I had my hubby hold the MFB while I waited for the tones since both come from the headset
Release the MFB and follow your phone's instructions to place it in 'bluetooth' discoverable mode.  With the iphone4, go to "General" and then "Bluetooth" and turn indicator to "ON".
This is where my issue occurred as the phone could not find the bluetooth, although it worked with my LG phone.  So after trying it several times thinking I was nuts and that the issue was with the iphone, I looked further in the blueparrot's directions and found this step that fixed the issue.
    Reset Paired Devices List
On the bluetooth, press and hold down both the volume up & volume down buttons for 5-6 seconds.  A double beep will be heard and the list will be reset.  Pairing info for devices previously paired will be lost.
The bluetooth directions provide this as step 4 but that did not work for my phone (see below)
    4. Once the phone discovers the headset, select "pair" and enter "0000" code and that when pairing is complete the blue light on the headset will stop flashing and phone will prompt you to 'connect'.
This is what I had to do after resetting the device list on my bluetooth
    4. My iphone instanting discovered the headset and displayed it under 'Devices" but showed a message that it was 'not connected'.  Once I selected the device on the iphone by pressing on it then it changed to "connected".
Even when I turn the bluetooth on and off the device remains on the list and alll I do is select it to connect and disconnect after I turn on my blueparrott bluetooth
    I hope this helps others!

    Hi NWL1,
Thanks for the question. If I understand correctly, the iPhone won't update and is stuck. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help you resolve or isolate the issue.

  • Bluetooth constantly searching for devices

When I (successfully) connect my BT headset, the iPhone seems to be constantly still searching for devices.
Is that normal? It seems to run away with battery power.

I'm assuming it only searches when you have the BT settings page open.
Once you close it the search will stop...(hopefully)

  • I have IPHONE 5s and my phone Bluetooth is not working its showing only its showing only searching for device but no results..?

BLUETOOTH NOT WORKING SHOWING ONLY SEARCHING THE DEVICE BUT NO RESULT?

We're all in the same boat, more or less. iOS 8.1 was supposed to fix Bluetooth issues (among other things) that appeared with the release of iOS 8.0.1 that iOS 8.0.2 didn't fix, and, well, they're still there...
A fix is probably on the way, already, but when will Apple release it, no one know...

  • N95 will not search for devices

I bought the N95 two days ago from CPW. Everything was fine and I managed to pair my Motorola Bluetooth headset with the N95. I unpaired the device to pair the headset with my work phone. All is well.
However, when I attempted to pair up the headset back with the N95, the phone no longer searches for other devices. The headset itself is fine as I have paired it with another phone, however it would appear that the N95 simply will only pair with another device just the once and will not attempt to do so again.
I went to a CPW store in Canon Street, London this afternoon and they replaced the handset. The man in the store showed me the handset searching for another device, but I had the Bluetooth headset in the lorry and I said that I'd pair it when I have driven off. I tried to pair the unit when I got back to the yard and it doe snot work!
Has anyone else had this problem or have any suggestions as I am loathe to return to the store to obtain yet another handset. The guy in the store mentioned something about a software fix.

As I indicated in my original post, I had attempted to pair the headset with another phone and this was successful.
The link you gave me to update the phone is of no use given that there are currently no updates available for the N95 as the unit is less than a month old.
I have some good news in that I have managed to pair the headset! You have to type in the following to do a reset of the handset: *#7370#. When prompted for the code, insert: 12345.
Unfortunately this resets the unit and all your old settings will have gone including your address book which I have found to my cost! Luckily, there was only a few numbers listed so I can retrieve them easily enough.
However, I can't go resetting the unit each time I have a prob with Bluetooth; a permanent solution has to be found.

  • My ipod 2nd genration bluetooth is not searching any device

my ipod bluetooth is not searching or pairing any device

What types of devices are you trying to pair it with?  The iPod Touch does not support all bluetooth profiles such as the one required for file sharing with your Mac or PC.  See here for supported profiles.
