TS3048 Bluetooth disappeared!!

Desperate for help please!!
I was listening to music two hours ago and it was playing on an external speaker system via Bluetooth from my MacBook Pro.
I shut my MacBook Pro down and then opened it a few minutes ago and Bluetooth is now showing as "not available".
When checking on About This Mac/More Info.../System Report.../Hardware/Blutooth it states NO INFORMATION AVAILABLE!
I am running Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5.
Any help would be greately appreciated.. I have shut down and restarted twice but still nothing.
Many thanks in advance for assistance with this... am lost without music!

Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Your MacBook Pro doesn't detect the Bluetooth card, which probably indicates that chip is damaged, but first reset the SMC > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964 Do the same with the PRAM > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379
If it doesn't work, take your MacBook Pro to an Apple Store or reseller to get the Bluetooth chip replaced

That was my question, I recommend intalar MAC OS X 10.5 Leopard, but would have to format the MAC to have bluetooth, but I ended up installing snow leopard and windows 20011. I'll install Windows 2011 with the same key? Why does the snow leopard has not fixed the bluetooth?

Download and install this update combo. This update combo for Snow Leopard can bring any version of Snow Leo up to 10.6.8 with the lastest version of App Store for Snow Leo.

  • Bluetooth disappearing

I know there are numerous posts on the solution to this issue. It ranges from resetting your firmware, to resetting your power management to rebooting and removing your battery for a few minutes. My own bluetooth unavailable issue is solved by merely a reboot.
What I am deeply concerned about is the wide spread nature of this issue. After perusing the posts on this board, I can conclude many people have this issue and it isn't limited to powerbooks, but exist also on Mini's, iMacs etc.
The second concern with this problem is the frequency it occurs at. Personally, I've had it happen to me twice already since I purchased my Powerbook a mere 2 weeks ago.
I find it unacceptle to have my Bluetooth disappear on me every few days forcing a reboot. I was hoping Apple knows about this issue, and there is a plan for a fix.

I tried the Apple help desk to get their help with this problem with a Plantronics 2500 headset. ('Headset? What's a headset?,' asked the help desk.) They said they supported only mice and keyboards. Sorry. Go ask Plantronics what to do.
Apple should get more involved with their products. I guess this is the downside of success, either that or Steve is having so much fun with the iPod he cant get interested in his bread and butter product line....

  • Bluetooth disappears after mountain lion install

After install of Mountain Lion, Bluetooth disappears from system preferences.
    Worked fined before install.
System now indicates bluetooth hardward not available.

Any luck on finding a resolution? When booting up in safe mode the BT comes back. Apple support was unsuccessful in finding a solution. I guesss an OSX update in is the works????

  • Bluetooth disappeared after a restart...Says theres no hardware. MacBook UB

    Hi guys,
I am new to Mac, and this MacBook is my first one to own. I recently had to hold down the power button, because my computer would not respond, or wake from the screen saver. When I turned it back on, the Bluetooth icon in my menu bar, was gone, and so was the System Preferences pane. Do you guys have any idea what happened? I also searched in Spotlight Bluetooth, and opened Bluetooth Explorer. It said there was no Bluetoth hardware... I recently have installed the iPhone 2.0 free SDK, if that helps. I do have regular Time Machine backups to a USB external drive. Thanks for anything, Ryan.

Thanks for the solution My bluetooth works after trashing my plist and resetting the PRAM.
However, it is only a temporary one. Every time I close my MacBook lid to put it to sleep it does not wake up at all. I have to force shutdown by holding on to the power button for a few seconds and restart.
Upon restart, my bluetooth disappears again. This happens every time I put my MacBook to sleep by closing the lid. I am lost as to why this is happening.
Now I have to shutdown completely all the time. Hopefully the bluetooth issue will not crop up again. But Apple should do something about this problem soon.
    Thanks again.

  • Just installed OSX Mavericks.Bluetooth disappeared from menu bar and system preferences. I have a magic mouse and my IMac no long recognizes it as such, nor can I scroll with it. What's wrong?

Just installed OSX Mavericks. Bluetooth disappeared from menu bar and system preferences panel. I use a Magic Mouse but my iMac no longer recognizes it as such, and I can no longer use it to scroll screen. What happened?

Since Mavricks installed: My Spotlight icon disappears from the menu bar, but the space stays there. If I click on the blank space where the
spotlight icon is supposed to be - the spotlight menu opens. So, for me, the icon is there, it works except that it is invisible at times. IF I do a re-start it is there. If I let the computer set, sleep or other wise stay on for days, the icon will hide and re-appear at random.

  • Mouse bluetooth disappeared

Bluethooth for mouse disappeared.  Re-booting does not help.  I can't go back and get it from time machine because it is a OS file.  When you go to the utility, it says "no hardware found".  Mouse worked just fine yesterday.    I tried fresh batteries.  Even tried a different mouse.  It is like the machine completely ate the bluetooth software.  *Poof*  Gone.

  • 08 Macbook, when printing with HP software, bluetooth disappeared

The CFO of my company came to me today with an interesting issue with his MacBook.  This morning when printing 2 docs simultaneously by mistake using the HP printer software for his printer, his bluetooth icon disappeared in his system tray, and in his system preferences, even after rebooting, it's still gone. His bluetooth is no longer working. He's running Snow Leopard 10.6.8.  Any ideas?

I checked for a hp driver and the only one is this one http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=dj-13823-4 &lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=58152&os=219&lang=en
have a look at that and try that driver for osx and hopefully it works.

  • Bluetooth disappeared from Hardware on Mavericks

    Hi,
well I never used the Bluetooth since now I get a bluetooth speaker, so I relased the Bluetooth preferences disappeared from the Panel "System preferences" and also from the "System information" ***???
I don't know exactly when the bluetooth was gone, since I never used it and I always have it OFF form the System Preferences.
Some changes happened to my macbook since time ago, so if anyone can help me please with some ideas, I appeciate it, here are the tips for this puzzle:
    - Macbook pro 15' mid 2010, 2.53 GHz Intel i5, came with Snow Leopard.
    - I replaced the RAM, so I have 2 x 4 GB, total 8 GB.
    - Had a problem with the video card (after updating to Mountain Lion) many kernel panics, the issue was this: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3114550
    - Apple relace my motherboard appling the replacement plan: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4088?
    - HD resulted damaged (after all the kernel panics).
    - I added a SD (120 GB) insted of the HD, and install a clean OSX Mavericks.
    - Replace the Superdrive DVD with a HD (500 GB).
I just tried to reset the PRAM and SMC, erase the SystemPreferences folder form Preferences, Library and also reinstalled Mavericks from the Restore partition, non of this worked for me.
    thank's a lot!
    bye

I'm auto replying myself, because after some tests I did, I was eble to found the problem, and may be I can help somebody with a strang problem like mine
Well, all was my fault, when I replaced the Superdrive DVD with the SD I took off the cable that connects the wifi and bluetooth so I took it off again and I could see one of the little pins was strange, like folded itself, so I put that pin straight and now is working fine. I was not that careful I thougth when I replaced the DVD myself, so even if you are sure you can do it well, you have to be super super careful once you open your mac or send it to a service if you don't want any "surprise"
    cheers!

  • Bluetooth disappeared

After a computer crash, where I was forced to reboot, my bluetooth keyboard didn't work - I found out, that the bluetooth icon disappeared from the menu bar. I can't find it in system preferences - it says "Bluetooth is not connected" and when I try to put a mark in "Show bluetooth in menu bar" the mark disappears right away.
I am in dispair and in need of help.

Me too. Just happened after restarting. I just added a magic mouse. Not sure it is related. Help!

  • Bluetooth disappeared after updating windows 10

hey! i hade problem in my laptop after updating my windows , the bluetooth suddenly disappeared i cant find it anywhere ,i tried to update drivers and install them again but nothing happened.

Did this have bluetooth to begin with? If so then you need to revert back to the previous O/S and verify for us it had bluetooth to start with?

  • My bluetooth disappeared

My bluetooth application disappeared on my macbook pro

If you do a search back through the forums you will see that quite a few people have had this problem.
Quite a few fixes have been suggested and what works for one person does not work for another.
I have the same problem and nothing has worked for me to get it back so I took the easy option and spent less than £2.00 on a Bluetooth Dongle from Amazon. I plugged it into the Macbook PRO and it made bluetooth available, paired up the magic mouse and it all works a treat.
Not an ideal solution I will admit but life is too short to spend hours trying various resets and other suggestions.
    I hope this helps.

  • TS3048 Bluetooth and USB ports aren't working can't connect mouse or keyboard.

Bluetooth and USB ports aren't working, so am unable to use Imac past turning it on. There's no way to connect mouse or keyboard, it started right after a software update for Maverick (OS X bash Update 1.0 – OS X Mavericks), bluetooth symbol not showing in the task bar at all.

    Hi SBrwn,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
The symptom you're describing can be frustrating to troubleshoot as our options are limited. I do suggest resetting the System Management Controller (SMC) if you have not already. This step can help you regain use of USB and Bluetooth.
Follow these steps to reset the SMC on your iMac:
Resetting the SMC for Mac Pro, Intel-based iMac, Intel-based Mac mini, or Intel-based Xserve
Shut down the computer. [by holding down the power button]
    Unplug the computer's power cord.
    Wait fifteen seconds.
    Attach the computer's power cord.
Wait five seconds, then press the power button to turn on the computer.
You can find these steps and more information at this link:
Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
    All the best,
    Jeremy
