TS3217 Back up and restore not working

My iphone 5 had been playing up and took it to my nearest store where they replaced the handset. Restored to back up and now I can't use one of the applications - 'My folder' by Yummy Apps Inc as passcode is denied and my music hasn't been restored, any advice?
I have rang Apple on this at length on the day I got the new handset - last sunday and got no where, I even went back into the store where they could not help.

On the device go to your address book.  Hit the menu key and go to Options.  Click on the the the contacts list in question.  You should see an entry for the number of entries and another menu item for "Wireless Syncronization."  Set Wireless Syncronization to 'No."  Then try your restore again.

  • Backup and Restore not working or am I missing something??

    I installed the Desktop Manager primarily to be able to save the info on my computer.  Only problem is when I go to Backup and Restore the button that allows me to backup (or restore) is not highlighed so it's not allowing me that option.  All it will allow me to access is the 'advanced' and 'options button' on the Backup and Restore window. I don't want to lose all my info again if the phone crashes so please HELP!  And it took me about 10 tries before the Desktop Manager successfully loaded on my computer so not sure if the problem was in the installation but when I look at the Desktop Manage window it shows 'disabled' and also doesn't allow me to choose any of the options on the bar at the top.  How do I enable this program??  When I tried loading the disk I got some message about now being able to run Adobe scripts so not sure if that might be part of the problem.

    Just realized that I had the backup and restore window open when I wrote the above post and when I closed that the window for the Desktop Manager did allow me to access the toolbar at the top but the Desktop Manager is still disabled.

    Find and delete ALL of the .ipsw files on your computer. Your profile does not say what OS your are using, but they are located here:
    OS X ~/Library/iTunes/iPhone Software Updates
    XP C:\Documents and Settings[username]\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates
    Vista & 7 C:\Users[username]\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates
    You will most likely have to turn on "show all hidden files" to find it. There should be only one .ipsw file, but delete ALL that you find. Connect your phone to itunes & try and restore again. This will force itunes to re-download the current firmware. Make sure any firewalls and anti-virus are turned OFF before you attempt to do so.
    If this fails, find another computer and try restoring as new on that machine. If near an Apple store, they will restore for you, but best to make an appointment.

    I just got it back updated the Android software and now I am trying to restore my contacts.
    Unfortunately, when I try to do so, using the PC Companion, it is switching to Xperia Transfer and then telling me...

    Please update your old Xperia phone/tablet to the latest available Android version, then make a new backup of your old Xperia phone/tablet using the Backup & Restore application.  [I tried this, it only restores photos and videos, won't restore contacts]

    As the phone was wiped when I sent it for repair, I cannot back it up!
    How can I retrieve the contacts I backed-up last month?  I am sure they are on the computer, but I can't get them back onto the phone...

    I found out the solution .I didnt have eough space in C Drive .I have created extra 1 GB space .Now it worked fine nut i'm not able to restore my data .It giving error that my backup is corrupted.I have lost all my data..:(

    An iPhone backup to a computer via iTunes stores the photos in a backup file that is only meant to be be used if needed to restore back to the phone. There is 3rd party "extractor" software available but otherwise the photos are not directly viewable.
    The backup via iTunes was a good idea and your Camera Roll photos should be there and should be able to be restored to your new phone. However if it was me I wouldn't rely on that alone. I would also import the photos to a computer where you can see and verify that you have a copy. That is a good idea at any time (not just when you know you might need it). Any phone can be lost, broken, suffer hardware issues, etc at any time and lose all data on it.     Got it! Thanx.  What I did was go to my account, check that they had my new ID and Password which they did, then hit reset button. All fixed.

  • HELP!  just a b & w screen with "do not disconnect" and restore doesnt work

    i dont know whats wrong with my ipod, its just got a b & w version of the normal "do not connect" screen, even when iTunes hasnt recognised it being plugged in, and if i reset it, it just has that folder picture, and the aple.com/support/ipod thing on the screen, before going back to the "do not disconnect" again in black and white. and restore doesnt work, it just says some error, and quits. Does anyone have any idea whats wrong? thanks

    I got like the same problem, last days I get message to restore my iPhone, so I did it yesterday and it work very well. In the afternoon I saw that at top in the left corner show invaild sim card or so (only knew the german version). so I restore it again but now it won`t activate after I enter SIM-PIN and it accept it, it shows "No Service".
    Anybody can help? My Carrier is o2 Germany.

    That's how Time Machine and iPhoto now work.  Restore the library to one of the external HDs, check it for the photos you want, export them to the boot drive and delete the restored library.
    If you know the file name of the photo you're looking for you can search for them in the TM backup using Find Any File.
    My workflow allows me to do that:
    1 - upload new photos to a folder on the Desktop.
    2 - name the folder to represent the contents and date: 01/03/10-Toads Bday
    3 - use a file renaming app to sequentially rename the photos in the folder to: 2010-01-03-Toads Bday-001.JPG,  -002,JPG, -003.JPG,  etc.
    4 - import the folder into iPhoto creating an Event with the same title as the folder.
    Now I can search for those file by file name with any app of my choosing.

    If you restored to factory settings/new iPod via iTunes (Not via Settings>General>Reset>Erase all Content and Setting) and still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem.

    I recently changed my iPod passcode to stop my brother interfering with my iPod. I then forgot what it was. So I looked online and was told how to restore my iPod. So I did. iTunes says it's restoring and all, and says it's complete but my iPod is still the same. Still has a passcode and all my songs. Why isn't it working?
    *And is there a file somewhere in my computer telling me what it is? Like I've heard about.*

    I guess you restored from your backup and did not set it up "as new ipod". The settings for your passcode are stored in your backup as well. You will have to sync your music and data back after your ipod was erased. So be sure to transfer your purchases before.

    You likely have a hardware problem like a dead battery.  To rule out a software problem try the following in order:
    - Reset:
    Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
    button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore the iPod from backup via iTunes
    - Restore the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod
    If still problem make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.
