TS3217 This song skipping bug on iPods has been around for years!  Is there any solution yet?

I've tried resetting my iPods.  (I've got 3 Classics, 2-80gb, 1-160gb)  I've tried 256kbps, 190kbps, and 128kbps compression rates.  All using AAC, all synced with a Mac Mini with Mountain Lion and the latest software for iTunes and the iPods.  It doesn't seem to matter what I try, all three of the iPods have the issue- they'll be playing fine, then they randomly stop prior to the end of a song, and skip to the next one.  The original songs are fine on the computer.  I've tried syncing with a different computer that has a different backup drive storing the song.  It still happens.  I've deleted songs, downloaded them from iCloud, and it still happens.  Is it just the iPod Classics, or does this happen on solid state iPods as well?  Is there any sign of a fix?  I've got over 12000 songs, and I'm kind of committed to this format, since Apple has pretty much killed all the portable music player competition.

I've been told by Verizon business team that Sumsung and Verizon are working on a fix. Of course, that could be one month or 12 months.
My wife and I have a Samsung S3 and Note II and both, on Jelly Bean have the same flaw. It's very frustrating. I carry with me an unlocked HTC and also Verizon Incredible 2. Since SIM Data plans are cheap enough in most countries, I just get additional SIM cards with a data plan and turn on the hotspot feature of these devices with I access from the S3 and NOTE II. Not ideal, but close enough for now.
In the UK, I am hoping the LTE capabilities will work (VodaFone UK is imminent).

  • Your bug "firefox is already running..." has been around for years. Why?

    All of the replies to this problem have been at most, palliative. Not fixes. Each new version seems to have this particular feature. We're on v26 now - without it having been fixed. Should we start to think of this as a feature? A pleasant friend that shows up to waste our time? Take the management approach and just document it?
    I think you could do better.

    You would only get this problem if Firefox isn't closing properly, so make sure to close down all programs manually before shutting down the computer or wait a bit longer to give Firefox enough time to close down completely because it can take more time to cleanup and save all data.

  • Can't download iOS 8.3 on my ipad mini. Has been downloading for 24 hours.  Any suggestions?

    Trying to download iOS 8.3 on my iPad mini.  Has been downloading for 24 hours.  Any suggestions?

    Try shutting off by holding down the home and power button at the same time.  Once turned back on you can try downloading again.  Be sure you have at least 50% of battery life before starting.

  • Sudden deauthorisation of laptop which has been authorised for years

    Hi forum users, I recently downloaded iTunes 9.0 and since doing that (i think) i have noticed that my laptop, which has been authorised for many years, has suddenly lost its authorisation. When i try to play a purchased song on the laptop, I keep getting a message saying that i already have 5 computers that are authorised and i need to de-authorise them to authorise my laptop. My laptop is the 5th computer that i have authorsied with my account and i'm not sure what to do about it because i am unable to deauthorise the previous 4 computers used in the past because they dont exist anymore. Can anyone please help me with this problem?

    Goto your account (top right of iTunes window), and if you have five authorized computers, you'll see a "deauthorize all" button for precisely your situation. I've never used it, but I have a feeling you can only do this once a year!
    Then you can go ahead and re-authorize the two computers you still have.

  • HT1212 My iPod has been disabled for a few months now, and I haven't had a way to reset it. I just recently got a computer, downloaded iTunes, and here I am in need of help that nothing is providing me with.

    I've been told to set my fourth generation iPod touch to recovery mode by turning it off, and holding the home button down, but my home button is cracked along with the bottom of my screen, so I have no way to do so.
    If anyone knows of a different way to reset a disabled iPod, please help.
    I logged into the iTunes account and it says it can not load because my iPod has a password.
    Yes, Apple, my iPod had a password; which was forgotten, and is the reason why I'm here in the first place.
    I hadn't downloaded iOS 8 yet, so the support system is rather useless. Help?

    A 4th gen iPod can not be upgraded to iOS 8. 7.0.2 is the high version it can run.

  • My ipod has been connected for over an hour, and it still says 'determining tracks to sync'. What should I do?

    I have an iPod classic 30GB. I've just got a new laptop and i have transferred my itunes library from my old laptop to my new one. I've also updated my library substantially, and want to erase everything from my ipod and sync the new library onto it. However, it's been connected for an hour and is still saying 'determining tracks to sync'. Is this normal? How long should it take, if my new library is about 10.5GB large?

    When you switched chargers, did you use the 10 watt chargers designed for the iPad?  Did you also change the connecting wires?  Have you tried power off, hold the sleep/power button until the red slider appears and slide to off.  Then plug the iPad in?
    If none of that is working, it could be a bad 30-pin connector in the iPad...an Apple genius bar tech can test and see if that is the problem.

  • IPod has been unused for a while, not refuses to work

    Hiya,
    My friend gave me his iPod mini which hasn't been charged in ages, and it's causing me a lot of trouble. It ran fine for a few seconds and then a 'low battery' icon appeared and it shut down. I plugged it into the comp and the same icon appeared and stayed there for a while. After some time, it went away and the iPod responded to the USB connection and was able to synch with the comp. iTumes synched with it, then I tried to synch with ephPod, that went well too, but after it synched, iTunes would not synch anymore and demanded that I restore it. So I did, and then..
    After the restore was complete, the iPod started showing a new icon on the screen, it depicts a charger being plugged into a power outlet. It refuses to do anything else, and does not respond to the USB connection. I reset it several times and got the same cycle; it shows the 'low battery' icon for several minutes without responding to anything, and then changes it to the icon of a charger being plugged in (all this while it's still plugged into the comp).
    I had it attached to a powered USB port for a night since then, and had the same thing. After disconnecting it, it'd still show the same icon. Then it stopped responding completely and the screen turned off. A reset brough the same icon back again...
    What does this charger icon mean? Someone suggested that the battery is messed up because of the time it spent without being charged. Is there a way to revive it in this case?

    Symptom: The iPod displays a picture of a power adapter and wall plug.
    Cure 1: The iPod wants to be plugged into a power outlet and won't proceed until you do so. You see this icon after you've restored your iPod and the iPod needs to update its firmware. This occurs only when you've plugged your iPod into a USB port or un-powered FireWire port (the 4-pin variety of FireWire ports found on some PCs).

  • My photos library has been loading for four days.  Any idea what the issue might be?

    My iCloud photos library has been trying to load for four days.  What is the issue?

    Greetings ok_takem,
    After reading your post, it sounds like you are experiencing an issue with photo syncing. You may want to consider restarting the device first, and then resetting if that does not work. This article provides detailed instructions for Restarting, and Reseting:
    Restart or reset your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
    How to restart
    Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears.
    Drag the slider to turn your device completely off.
    After the device turns off, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button again until you see the Apple logo.
    How to reset
    You should reset your device as a last resort and only if you can't restart it.
    To reset, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for at least 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo.
    Thank you for contributing to Apple Support Communities.
    Best,

  • My lightroom 4 will not import my files from my compact flash card . It has been working for years with out fail but now there is no import previews and it says the files are not recognized by raw format support in LR

    I have lightroom 4 I've had it for years and it has imported my raw files from my CF card without issue . Now when I plug in my CF card to import new files it says import operations not performed and there are no image previews . When I continue by hitting "import" I get a pop up window that states "the files are not recognized by raw format support in Light Room"

    Don't feel too bad.  If the D4S has as many menus and custom functions as my Canon 5D Mark iii its easy to get messed up.
    If you downloaded from the link I gave you it will be Lr 5.4.   The link was just to show you when the D4S was supported.  The newest version is 5.7.1 and can be downloaded here.  Don't know your OS so you will have to pick Windows or Mac.   Product updates
    On my Mac I just run the downloaded installer program (its a full version and not an small update) and it installs the new version and erases the old version.  If you are on Windows you will have to get help from a windows person.

  • This bug has been around for over a year: SecurityError: Error #2123: Security sandbox violation

    Hi,
    The bug of 'SecurityError: Error #2123: Security sandbox violation: BitmapData.draw: file:///xxx/xxx.swf cannot access rtmfp://fms4.acrobat.com/cocomo/na2-sdk-xxx/xxx. No policy files granted access.' was first reported in lccs forum over a year ago:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/2803074
    But the bug is still around. The bug can be generated by calling BitmapData.draw() on a flash.media.Video object which is attached to a p2p stream. It looks like the solution is to have the publisher to call:
    send("|RtmpSampleAccess", true, true)
    on the NetStream object _before_ the subscriber calls NetStream.play(), in order to give the permission to subscribers for audio and video streams.
    In lccs library, the above permission authorisation happens in WebcamPublisher:
    protected function onNetStatus(p_evt:NetStatusEvent):void
    if (p_evt.info.code=="NetStream.Connect.Success") {
    setTimeout(sendSnapShotPermission, 500);
    _stream.send("|RtmpSampleAccess", true, true);
    protected function sendSnapShotPermission():void
    _stream.send("|RtmpSampleAccess", true, true);
    but it doesn't help the problem. In fact, it is not clear to me when this 'snap shot permission' is sent to the subscriber.
    One more note: This is not a critisism for the lccs development quality, but rather a question on how ready lccs is for production use. After encountering this bug, I had to go through the lccs code (the open source parts), and found out that the library is not really written, well, carefully, and it is full of temporary quick-n-dirty fixes.
    For instance in the above example, sendSnapShotPermission() is called after 500 milliseconds, probably to allow something to happen before calling the method, but how can you be sure that it will happen in 500 milliseconds? Probably,an event listener should have been used. Immediately in the next line, we see:
    _stream.send("|RtmpSampleAccess", true, true);
    which is a duplicate of sendSnapShotPermission(). many examples like this can be found throughout the library.
    Aureliano

    Hi Nigel,
    Two questions:
    1. When the publisher sends the access permission to the subcriber by:
    netStream.send("|RtmpSampleAccess", true, true)
    , on the subscriber side, what event or function can handle the guaranteed receipt of the access permission? Currently it is possible to draw the incoming stream video upon receiving NetStream.Play.Star and waiting for 5 seconds or so:
    public class MyWebcamSubscriber extends WebcamSubscriber {
    override protected function layoutCameraStreams():void
    // trying the event listener seems to work here.
    _streamManager.addEventListener(NetStatusEvent.NET_STATUS, onNetStatus);
    override protected function onNetStatus(e:NetStatusEvent):void
    super.onNetStatus(e);
    case "NetStream.Play.Start":
    setTimeout(function():void {
    // draw the video from the incoming stream here.
    }, 5000);
    The questions is, which event can let the subscriber know that it has the access permission to the video stream?
    2. In WebcamPublisher, why is that the access permission is sent 3 times?
    a. Once on receiving NetStream.Connect.Success with 0.5 second delay, as in below.
    b. Once immediately upon receiving NetStream.Connect.Success, as in below.
    protected function onNetStatus(p_evt:NetStatusEvent):void
    if (p_evt.info.code=="NetStream.Connect.Success") {
    setTimeout(sendSnapShotPermission, 500);
    _stream.send("|RtmpSampleAccess", true, true);
    protected function sendSnapShotPermission():void
    _stream.send("|RtmpSampleAccess", true, true);
    c. Once in onConnectionTypeChange() with 2 seconds delay:
    protected function onConnectionTypeChange(p_evt:StreamEvent):void
    if ( _streamManager.isP2P) {
    _stream= new NetStream(_connectSession.sessionInternals.session_internal::connection as NetConnection,NetStream.DIRECT_CONNECTIONS);
    setTimeout(sendSnapShotPermission, 2000);

  • Installing Itunes from CD,  Ipod has been formatting for 36 hours?

    Recieved Ipod as gift pre loaded, am installing Itunes from CD recieved in box. Was asked to format ipod, clicked format button, message appears 'waiting for ipod' progress bar is active and hard drive light is flashing. Have now been waiting 36 hours. Is this normal? The ipod says do not disconnect, I am anxious not to lose my pre loaded music.

    Im not sure how you get an iPod pre loaded with music, unless the person who gave to to you has a gift preloaded it, but when you formatted/restored the iPod that wiped the iPOd clean. its not normal to be waiting that long. more on restoring can be found here http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=60983
    It depends on what type of iPod this is but if its a current one like a nano or 5G (Video) iPOd, it will have to be connected to your PC using a USB 2,0 port or a "High Speed" usb port (USB 2.0 has afew different names may be slightly different name in the UK compared to here in the US where I am).
    You will have to manually eject the iPod using the "Safly remove" feature in windows with iTunes closed if its open. this shows up as a lil icon with a green arrow in the bottom right corner of windows.
    After that you will disable any antivirus programs that may be interfering with the iPod and iTunes during its first setup on your PC. Download the latest iPod updater here install it and then run it with the iPod connected to restore the iPod and update the software on it http://www.apple.com/ipod/download/
