TS3221 error on update 5.1 iphone 4s
my iphone 4s was doing an update to ios 5.1 which an error occured and has now locked my phone on usb and itunes icon and im unable to reset or turn my phone on/off wat can i do
Two of our family's cut Virgin UK chips work fine in iPhone 4s with IOS5.1, but the third won't work since the update. I've just checked with Virgin and the technician said that the problematic chip (which still works in the iPhone 3) was issued in 2002 and is the old style. The others are the new style and have greater data storage. Now waiting for the replacement chip to arrive. Hopefully this will solve the problem. It's not a phone problem as the working Virgin chips work in all three of our iPhone 4s units running 5.1

Error when updating iOS8 on iPhone 4S
Download crashed 3/4 ways into updating software iOS8. Now iTunes doesn't recognize my phone, it's now recognized as just "iPhone." Now it's asking me to restore my phone, so am I going to lose all my app's, photos, texts, etc., basically everything? Contacts too? My ONLY choice is to restore. When I turn on the phone, it wants you to connect to iTunes for the restore. Any advice?

Weird Error while Updating my iPhone :'((
So tonight i connected my iPhone 3GS to my MacBook and went to update it to the new software. this turned out with my MacBook repeatedly saying that there was an error and to reconnect my iPhone. i kept doing this everytime it said this. then when it finally was able to restart my iPhone after updating it disconnected again from my MacBook then it said i had to Restore my iPhone to the original manufacturer settings so i started doing that well while it was doing that it disconnected again and now my iPhone is not being recognized by my MacBook and i have used 3 different USB cables and im pretty sure my iPhone is now frozen. idk what to do now except wait until morning and show my dad.
any suggestions?I can't help with a software solution, but I can tell you that my daughters iPhone 4, had to go to the Apple Store in Exeter (UK) where she saw a 'nice', multi-tasking, Genius called David, who after finding it could not update on their Macs, put it down to a hardware fault in the USB connection on the iPhone.
Once that was discovered, she was handed a new replacement without any quibble.
This is a big issue to us who had the problem, (all the family iPhones updated perfectly except for hers..) so you are just going to be one of the unlucky few, versus the 100m who didn't - and Apple will see you right... -
Hi, my iphone 5 encountered an unknown error while updating to iOS 7 via itunes and is now stuck in recovery mode and prompts me to restore the phone when I connect it to itunes but then I would lose all my data. I DO NOT have any back ups on itunes. Is there anyway to get out of recovery mode without restoring or recover data after a restore?
Or any other suggestions please? ThanksAs pdroth said, you should have gotten a backup made when you started the update of iOS. If you cannot find a backup, and the phone is in recovery mode, there are no futher suggestions to make. To get the phone working again you have to restore. You cannot force a backup at this time since it is already in recovery mode. It will not allow anything else but a restore at this point.

Have you jailbroken this device? This will make the iPhone not talk to the Software Update Server (that signs and accepts software updates) please refer to the following link? Error 3194, Error 17, or "This device isn't eligible for the requested build"
The iPhone will talk to the software update servers, just need to change the host files, it's a simple process, sorry if you were confused about the wording in to top? -
I did the ios6 software update on my iphone and it did not complete because it said there was an error. It then gave me a message that I needed to restore my phone. When I tried to restore my backup it says it cannot be completed because there is not enough storage. I cant delete anything to make more storage because my phone is not usable because it wont restore. What do I do?
Something in your backup may be corrupt. Try wiping it and setting it up as a new device, then sync your apps, data and media back to it from iTunes. DO NOT resotre from your backup. If the problem is contained in the backup, it will bring it right back again if you restore.

I am trying to download an update to my iphone, but in the middle of the download, I get an error message that reads, 'There was problem downloading the software for the iphone. The network connection timed out'. Any idea how to reslove this issue?

I have done several "attempted downloads, and see the full file download, typically taking 30 minutes to complete, and then something goes wrong.
I am happy to suspend AV and FW software, but would like to know if it is a good fix or not first?

I attempted to install the newest OS update to my Iphone 4 this morning and got an error message that it couldn't install. Since there my phone has been frozen on a screen illustrating the USB connection to Itunes. The phone will not restore after 3 attempts.
Any cures out there?You are in recovery mode. Restore it through iTunes on your computer.

I have recently done the update to my iphone and then tried to backup my iphone to itunes and an error meesage has occured and now my phone isn't responding to anything and is stating that it needs to be restored back to manufacturers settings, Can anyone help?
