  • ITunes won't recognise my iPod on USB 2.0, only 1.1

my computer won't recognise my iPod touch 1.1.4 when it is connected via my USB 2.0 PCI card, only when it is plugged in via the motherboards inbuilt USB 1.1 ports. I have plugged it into other computers (all pc's) and it works fine on their USB 2.0 ports.
    What could be causing this?
    cheers.

Try this if you have not already. This removes and reinstalls ALL Apple software and sometimes that is required.

  • Itunes won't recognise my ipod and i have uninstalled it numerous times, what can i do now?

I have tried uninstaling and reinstalingitunes many times and its still will not recognise my ipod. I don't know what else i am meant to do..?

I've spoken with Apple and here is their response (worked for me). You need to uninstall not only iTunes, but also (in this order):
    1) iTunes
    2) Apple Software Update
    3) Apple Mobile Device Support
    4) Bonjour
    5) Apple Application Support
Then you restart your computer. Then you install the latest version of iTunes (which will reinstall all those things you uninstalled). Then you restart your computer again.

  • TS1538 My computer and itunes won't recognise my ipod. It's not coming up anywhere, not even in the device manager as a camera or whatever the troubleshooting said it might say. Plugging it in with the USB cable just charges the device.

Ipod is not connecting to itunes. It doesn't show up in itunes, 'my computer' or the device manager and plugging in the cord just charges the device.

Hey, first off, i'd like to say i'm not extremely technical - but i'll try and keep up. i'm having more or less the same problem as JasperMack, only, iTunes is recognizing it as my brother's iPod - Not mine. I've searched through the device manager and i got nothing that will recognize it there. My iPod DOES however charge, it almost takes on the roll of my brother's - only problem is when i got to sync it, it says "no device avalible" or whatever. I got this iPod 2nd-Hand (probably a bad idea) and i have no idea what to do. This is the 1st time i've attempted to to plug it into my computer and it's already taking a flying leap into hte zone of "not working" anything???

  • ITunes won't recognise my ipod on new laptop

    Hi there
I have bought a new laptop - hp, windows 8. iTunes installed, music copied across.  However when I connect my ipod there is no recognition.  A box comes up saying "my PC" showing the ipod.  The ipod says syncing, then ok to disconnect (in the space of 5seconds) and then it is disconnected and the computer doesn't know it exists!
I know there are lots of threads on here with similar problems but I can't seem to work out which is having the same problem as me! Any help greatly appreciated.

NOTE:  Unless you want to use the iPod as a storage device (like a USB flash drive), there is no reason to Enable disk use.  iTunes recognizes the iPod, whether it is seen in Windows or not.
If you want to use automatic syncing, making iTunes responsible for keeping your iPod "in sync" with your iTunes library, you probably need to set it up (or update it).  Right now, it may "sync," but if nothing is set up to sync, it syncs nothing.
Select the iPod in the sidebar, under DEVICES.  To the right, its Summary screen is shown.  Toward the top, there is a bar of buttons, starting with Summary.  Click on Music next to Summary.  This Music screen is where you tell iTunes how to sync songs to the iPod.
Check the box for Sync Music, if not already checked.  This enables automatic syncing.
NOTE:  If that box is currently NOT checked, that means the iPod is set up to add and remove songs manually (not using automatic syncing).  If you set up automatic syncing, the iPod's existing content is replaced, based on how you set up syncing (as described below).  Any songs on the iPod that are not in your iTunes library will be lost.  If this is a problem, please post back (I can describe how to add/remove songs manually).  If all songs on the iPod are in your iTunes library, it is not a problem.
If your iTunes library is small enough to fit on the iPod's storage, you can choose to sync Entire music library.  Otherwise, choose to sync Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres.  Then, select (checkmark) what you want on the iPod from the lists below.  One convenient way to set this up is to create one or more playlists in your iTunes library, and put ALL of the songs you want on the iPod on those playlists.  (Or you can use existing playlists.)  Back on the iPod's Music screen, select those playlists under Playlists.
When you click Apply, the songs in your selections sync to the iPod.  Going forward, to update songs on the iPod, just update those playlists in your iTunes library (add/remove songs).  The iPod does not need to be connected.  The next time you connect the iPod (or click Sync if already connected), iTunes updates the iPod with the same changes automatically.

  • Itunes won't recognize my phone on MAC but it Does on PC !!!! HELP PLEASE

I've been trying to sync my iPhone with my Mac and it doesn't recognize it, it pulled up iPhoto but then I canceled that to see if it would work. I've tried everything possible and I don't know if any of you have ever gone through this. I called 1800-MY-IPHONE and they had to go through product spec. for the same things I've already tried doing. Any ideas.

Assuming you have the phone set to Sync when connected in iTunes...then there seems to be an issue with iTunes you have installed...ensure you have the most recent version. If so and it's still not working then you should try to uninstall iTunes from that MAC machine and then you should remove the Sync settings/data from your MAC library for iSync and SyncServices...Then reinstall iTunes....
I've had this problem before and these steps worked. If you need additional help locating these library entries visit www.iphoneatlas.com and search the archives for sync issues and you will find more detailed instructions.

  • Since the latest itunes update, my itunes won't recognise my ipod

Since the latest itunes update, my itunes detects my ipod nano (7th generation), but says it can't be identified properly. However, my older ipod nano (4th generation) fine. Does anyone know what this could be? I've re-installed itunes already and followed the troubleshooter.

The later nano may require more power when connected, to operate and charge its battery, compared to the older nano.  It's possible that your computer's USB bus may not provide sufficient power, if you have other devices connected at the same time.
As a test, I would shut down (power off) the computer and disconnect all USB devices (including hub), except for standard keyboard and mouse if normally used.  Do this to Reset the iPod
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1320
Start up the computer, run iTunes, and connect the iPod to a direct USB port on the computer.  Is there any difference regarding this problem?

  • ITunes won't recognise my iPod. tried everything!

    hmm...yes, well...
i reformatted my computer a couple of weeks ago..i backed up all my music on an external hard drive. the whole process was absolutely painless until i tried to sync my 5th gen 60gb iPod to my recovered itunes library. if iTunes (7) is running and i plug in the iPod, iTunes freezes for a while, unfreezes, and then...does nothing. if i close itunes at this point and then reopen it, it doesn't appear for about 7 minutes then appears and syncs my iPod perfectly! further problems occur when i try to eject it, however...it causes iTunes to freeze alltogether which leaves me with no other choice but to end the programme. I've tried everything i can think of...i ran the "iPod diagnostics" and it gives a green light on the first three tests and then a red on the "iPod connection status". i've tried everything on the help page the diagnostics screen leads me to (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93716) and nothing has had any effect. i've also tried restoring the iPod but that also causes iTunes to freeze! please help..
PS. apologies for incoherence and computer ineptitude..

  • Itunes won't recognise Ipod touch 5G

So this is for my friend who has a 5G, but her Itunes won't recognise the ipod touch 5G, but windows can recognise it, Itunes says to reset the Ipod touch, and she has done this before, and now again it won't recognise it, so she has to reset it, and this is quite annoying her, as resetting takes a long time. my friend had a 4G before, and had no problems with this, she sold the 4G to get the 5G. She has a window 7 laptop. I've tried several ways but it hasn't solved it.
What can we do to solve it ?

iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Mac OS X
    or
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
You need iTunes 11.1 or later on the computer.
    Does the iPod charge?

  • ITunes won't recosginse my iPod for a factory reset

My iPod has been booting up then shutting down constantly till the battery runs out since yesterday, so I followed all the knowledge base articles and finally came to this
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=60983
which seems to be the only thing left to try before it goes back to Apple. However, it requires me to click on the "summary tab" to reset to factory settings but I can't do that because iTunes won't recognise my iPod, it just says:
"Itunes cannot read the contents of iPod "MONKEYSIPO". Go to the Summary tab in iPod preferences and click Restore to restore this iPod to factory settings".
Windows does recognise it, however. Someone has posted that doing a quick format will reset the iPod the same way but I'm not conviced by that and don't fancy invalidating my warranty, so can someone confirm that or help me with the iTunes problem?
    Frankensteined Athlon2.3   Windows XP Pro

Never mind. I had to uninstall the iPod using the installation CD then uninstall iTunes 7, reinstall iTunes 6.05, reinstall the iPod updater software so I could restore the factory settings. Uber faff and 6 odd hours of installing, forum searching and rebooting my PC
Note to apple: Total integration of features isn't necesarily a good thing. Get your support sorted.

  • HT4436 we have 5 devices on one itunes account how do I give them each their own icloud account and still share the itunes account?

we have 5 devices on one itunes account how do I give them each their own icloud account and still share the itunes account?

You need a unique AppleID for each iCloud account.  So grab some free gmail, hotmail, aol, yahoo or whatever email addresses to make five new AppleIDs.  Now, everybody make an iCloud account for themselves, and keep the existing shared AppleID and password just for use in the iTunes and App Stores.  You can also each use your own unique AppleIDs to make iMessage accounts and keep those separate as well.
