  • ITunes Error 7 (Windows error 127) after installing iTunes 64-bit for Windows

After installing iTunes 64-bit for Windows (latest build), I get an error pop-up saying:
iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes
    Error 7 (Windows error 127)
I've gone thru the uninstall, reboot and reinstall process three or four times now. Still nothing.
Furthermore, after clicking okay to the error, it continues to pop up on it's own every 45 seconds or so.
There was one other error I came across after trying to launch iTunes after installation.
    See both error messages here:

Brilliant. Thanks a lot. I've wasted a couple of hours on this nasty bug, & trying all the other suggestions across various threads again and again.
I now find I had the same registry entry hanging on, despite uninstalling & wiping everything again and again. Having now deleted this key, (I don't even have an iPod), & iTunes 11.1.14 now opens at long last.
But WHY is this bug not fixed? Enough people are suffering with this across the forum. WHERE is Apple support on this?
It should have been added to their page at
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
    by now, why hasn't it???
    It's not good enough!
    Re:
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\SharedDlls]
    "C:\\Program Files\\iPod\\bin\\iPodService.exe"=dword:80000000
AHA! This entry for iPodService.exe still exhisted.  So I had no folders on the PC, no installs on the PC and no services running.... BUT this was still in the Registry.
Step 5 - Delete only the Registry entry above.  NO REBOOT
    Step 6 - Reinstall iTunes64.exe

  • After installing itunes 10 installation was successful but then tells me error 2 (windows error 2), After installing itunes 10 installation was successful but then tells me error 2 (windows error 2)

After installing itunes 10 installation was successful but then tells me error 2 (windows error 2).

Let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe, and select "Extract to iTunesSetup". WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup".
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you? If so, does iTunes launch properly now?
If instead you get an error message during the install, let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

  • I tunes error -42404 after installing update

Problem with itunes after update. Windows 7, 64 bit. Have uninstalled, deleted all apple files/folders etc. per other forums (several times with different error msgs). Finally got it to install-had to install Qiicktime separately but am getting following error msg and progrram doesn't work correctly and shuts down.
error msg "A required iTunes component is not installed. Please repair or reinstall iTunes (-42404). Any help would be appreciated.

    Hello spiketaz,
iTunes has various components bundled with it that it requires for general usage. I advise that we completely remove iTunes and all of these related components, verify that they have been removed, then reinstall. To do so, please follow the steps in this article:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
Note: it is important to remove the 7 components in order. Uninstalling these components in a different order, or only uninstalling some of these components may have unintended affects.
If the above does not resolve your issue, I recommend we reset the SC Info folder:
iTunes repeatedly prompts to authorize computer to play iTunes Store purchases
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1389
(See Step 4: Remove the SC Info folder)
    Thanks,

  • Error message after installing iTunes 8.1 plc help

After have installed iTunes I get an error message saying: The folder "iTunes" cannot be found or created, and is required. The default location for this folder is inside the "My Music" folder.
Now I've tried to creat the folder manually, but that doesn't work either
have any of you had this problem too?
I've tried removing it and re-installing iTunes 15 times...

In XP, this us usually caused by a registry problem, See:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1866
Sometimes My music does not show up in TweakUI. If that happens see:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=1731188&#1731188
But be careful it involves editing the registry.
If iTunes installed, you may be able to work round this with a shift key start.
Hold down the shift key and start iTunes. Keep holding the shift key until you are prompted to choose or create a library
If you already have an iTunes folder containing a library, navigate to it and choose iTunes Library.itl. Otherwise create a library in My Music.
(the shift key is the one that makes upper case letters)

  • Error7 (Windows error 126) After Installing iTunes

I got the following error message when unsuccessfully trying to open iTunes:
“The program can't start because MSVCR80.dll is missing from your computer.  Try reinstalling the program to fix the problem.”
So following directions I uninstalled iTunes, downloaded the latest iTunes from the iTunes site and attempted to reinstall.  However, it would not reinstall and gave the following error message:
“Service ‘Apple Mobile Device’ (Apple Mobile Device) failed to start.  Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services.”
After I clicked ignore a dialog box came up saying iTunes had been successfully installed.  Underneath it was another dialog box with a big X in red  which said:
“iTunes was not installed correctly.  Please reinstall iTunes.  Error7 (Windows error 126)
Please let me know what to do.

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

  • Unknown error 13008 after installing iTunes 8.0.2

Just today I installed the newest iTunes. The programme does not open and I receive the error message 13008.
Nothing special on our Max, just that my wife and I share the same library which is saved under _+user/for alls users/music/iTunes+_ instead of the usual myusername/music/iTunes. This never caused any trouble in the past.
    Any help much appreciated!
    Cheers,
    Sven

I fixed the problem on my iMac using the hints above. Turns out, it's a file permissions issue.
Like you, I have a Shared location for the iTunes library files. And I have multiple accounts on the iMac that use the same Shared iTunes files. My daughter's account was apparently the first to enable/use the Genius feature, and the file permissions enabled only her to read/write to the "iTunes Extras" files.
    Here's what I did:
    1. Open Terminal.
    2. cd ~/Music/iTunes
    3. ls -la
    4. Observe that several of the files have permission -rw-r--r--, including "iTunes Library Extras.itdb", and "iTunes Library Genius.itdb".
    5. sudo chmod 666 "iTunes Library Extras.itdb" # and enter my password.
    6. sudo chmod 666 "iTunes Library Genius.itdb"
    Voila!

  • Error -42032 after Installing iTunes 11 -- crashes upon opening.

I updated to iTunes 11 and it had been working fine for a few days until today.
It randomly crashed when I used the search box to find a song. Upon reopening the program I got an "Error -42032" message that I've googled and can't find any information about:
About 5 seconds after I hit ok, iTunes crashes again. I'm guessing a reboot might fix this, but I'm curious as to what this error means.

I think mine is doing the same thing. My library loads fine, but when I try to switch to the store it comes up with an error message. The error report forces itunes to close. I tied deleting and re-downloading itunes again but had no success. Some help would be much appreciated.

  • Error 11222 after installing itunes 7.7 and i can'st connect to itunes.

    is there a simple solution?

For those having trouble with upgrading itunes due to quicktime upgrade problems this is what worked for me:
Use this link to install the Windows install cleanup and remove EVERYTHING apple and quicktime related.
    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;290301
For those with connection to itunes store...Connection refused
    This worked for me:
    1. start menu
    2. run
    3. msconfig
    4. services tab
    5. click on all apple and quicktime boxes
    6. apply
    7. restart computer
Hopefully someone else will find these helpful and pass them along to the appropriate places.

  • Svchost.exe errors after installing iTunes 7.0.1.8

I have two computers that starting throwing svchost.exe errors immediately after installing iTunes 7. First it happened on my desktop. In preparation to reinstall Windows XP on my desktop, I prepared my laptop to use while my desktop was out of commision. I installed iTunes 7 and immediately I started getting svchost.exe errors. I don't have the blaster worm on either machine (already checked). My desktop is behind three firewals, runs Norton, and I already did a full virus scan on both.
This is causing significant problems as my computer can't see the network, outlook can wig out, and in general my machine is unpredicatable. I hate to think that installing iTunes 7.0 leads to the need to reinstall Windows. If anyone has any ideas I would appreciate any help.

I changed my "Startup Type" for "Terminal Services" from "Disabled" to "Manual". Resolved issue.

Why am I now receiving the error 42404: a required iTunes component is not installed after the 10.5.3 iTunes update? Now, I cannot sync my iphone...I have uninstalled and re-installed several times now without any luck.
    Thanks,

'The installer has insufficient privileges to modify this file C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support\Web kit.resources\inspector\Images\Spinner Inactive Selected.gif.'
That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.
XP instructions in the following document: How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP
Vista instructions in the following document: Check your hard disk for errors
Windows 7 instructions in the following document: How to use CHKDSK (Check Disk)
Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?

  • After installing itunes 10.5 itunes wont open it says i have an error , i need help so i can update my ipod , HELP!!

after instaling itunes 10.5 i cant open itunes , my pc says its an error . . what do i do  ?

In order to download iTunes 10.7, which requires OS X 10.6.8, you have to buy OS X 10.6. It's available from the online Apple store, in the US by calling 800-MY-APPLE, or online here.  After OS X 10.6 installation, run Software Update until there are no more updates available, at which point you'll be at OS X 10.6.8 and can install iTunes 10.7.

    Hi pholewinski!
I have a couple of articles for you here that I believe will help you with this issue. The first is an article on advanced troubleshooting, and it can be found here:
    iTunes: Advanced iTunes Store troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3297
If following that article's steps doesn't take care of the issue, you can try the things listed in this article, which is about permissions issues in iTunes:
iTunes: Missing folder or incorrect permissions may prevent authorization

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. Have a good one!
