  • I have a white round spot about one inch in diameter on my monitor; how can i get rid of it?

I have a white spot, about one inch in diameter, on my iMac monitor.  It does not go away even after I restart the computer.  What is the cause and how do I get rid of it?

It has now disappered after I had shut down the computer.  It was opaque and oval.  All applications so it must have been a monitor problem.  Thanks.

  • Why is there a one-inch gap between FF logo and search engines?(I'm using FF4).

I recently downloaded FF 4.I'm not technically savvy, and was a bit confused to see a drop down menu and the word "Firefox".
I didn't like the new set-up and managed to delete it, in favor of the logo.
Now,the opening page is in the background and there is a one-inch gap between the logo and the search engine. Is there a way to have a space reduction?
    F11 is NOT a resolution.

You can make FF4 look like FF3 by doing the following.<br><br>
    * Right click a blank part of the tab bar and click "Tabs on top" to remove the checkmark. Tabs will subsequently reappear below the search bar.<br><br>
    * Repeat the same steps, but click the top one called "Menu bar". This will reinstate the text links at the top.<br><br>
    * To rearrange the layout, repeat the same steps again and choose "Customize". A panel will open and while that remains onscreen, you can move elements like toolbars, buttons etc around and place them anywhere you wish. You can also drag anything you don't like into that panel and add anything you want by dragging it out of there.<br><br>
    * To replace the status bar at the foot of the page, install this add-on: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/status-4-evar/<br><br>

  • How can one encrypt the source code of a given web page(html, jsp, etc.) ?

Good Day! I'm just having a hard time of thinking how to encrypt the source code of a given web page(html, jsp, etc.) without affecting how it is previewed in an Internet Browser. What I plan is to disable the capabilities of some malicious Internet users of copying the source codes of my web pages by using the "View Source" option of Internet Explorer and the equivalent function in Netscape Navigator. Please somebody help me in this matter (I'm planning to use an IDEA algorithm using JCE)....
It would be big help if a running code is supplied.
Thank you very much in advance.
    God Bless!!!

don't know theses softs. What i know about encrypted web pages, is that you need a secure socket connection (https).
Your web page will be ciphered, send to the user, and decipher by the browser with the signature file associated to your https connexion.
It isn't possible to encrypt your page directly, and then decrypt them when requested.
For the download time, only the server is responsible for this.
if it is overloaded, then it will slow down its upload.
Maybe you use some encryption method that require a lot of CPU time.
For summary : you can only cipher the pipe transport, but not the transported pages.
    Good luck in your search.

  • Safari breaks lines after every word when printing some web pages

Most pages print fine, but there are a few where Safari totally mangles the formatting when trying to print.
For example, this page on Microsoft's support website. It looks fine in Safari, but when I try and print it, all the content gets pushed to the left edge of the page, with each word appearing on a new line. This causes the content to take up 15 pages!
I've tested this in Safari 7.1 in Mavericks, and Safari 8.0 in Yosemite. The results are identical in both versions.
The same web page prints normally from Chrome or Firefox, and is only 3 pages long when printed.
Note: Microsoft's website isn't the only place I've seen Safari do this, but it's the only example I have right now.

This happens on three different Macs. Those Macs have no problem printing from other apps, including other browsers.
Can you please try printing that web page on your Mac (with Safari), and letting me know what happens?
    Here's a link: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2360509
Just load that page, then try printing it.
Note: You don't even need to actually print it. Just hit ⌘-P, and you'll see the bad formatting in the Print dialog box.

  • On my iPad 2 at the bottom of screen it looks almost as if though the screen has folded up for about one inch.  How can i get rid of this?

As per the heading.  Foldover at bottom of screen.  How can I get rid of it?

Reset the iPad and see if that makes the screen return to normal.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

  • When clicking on a bookmark the screen quite often reduces to a vertical strip covering about one-third of my PC screen, and I would like to prevent this happening.

I can't give more detail because the question is self-evident. I can expand the reduced screen in the usual way, but it is a bore to have to do so. The problem used to be spasmodic, but now happens (I think) every time.

Opening in the side bar is the default for bookmarks that are created via a link or button on a website.<br />
You can check the Properties of a bookmark via the right-click context menu in the side bar (Ctrl+B; Cmd+B on Mac).<br />
In the Bookmarks Manager (Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks) you can click the More button in the Details pane at the bottom right.<br />
Make sure that "Load this bookmark in the side bar" is not selected.<br />

  • I have bookmarks displayed, but when visit some web pages, they disappear and are replaced by horizontal lines, and sometimes lines that look like barcodes appear around the edges of Firefox 4. Any suggestions how to remove them?

This happens when I have the Menu Bar hidden. It happened with the betas and now with the RC

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
    * [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]]
In Firefox 4 [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode Safe mode] disables extensions and disables hardware acceleration.
    * Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"

  • One minute video no longer plays on my web page (but it used to!)

I have the latest version of iWeb.
On one of my pages I had a short one-minute video that played fine. Then I must have done something problematic, because now that video does not play when that page is opened. The video does play on my desktop iWeb (the working iWeb) but does not play on that page on the Internet.
The video is at this URL:
    http://web.mac.com/lorna6/Websiteof_Lorna_Alexander/Stories,_Fantasies_Blog/Stories,_FantasiesBlog.html.
Where the video used to be, there is now a white question mark in the Quicktime icon.
What should I check and do to get my video back playing on that page? Thank you for anything you can tell me which might help......

Helbereth I would recommend contacting our support team directly at Contact Customer Care and provide any alternate e-mail or phone numbers which the other software title may have been registered under.  You can find additional details on how to locate registered serial numbers at Find your serial number quickly - http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/find-serial-number.html.

  • I have been receiving notices that some web pages I visit require Flash 10, I have only flash 9. I followed Adobe's instructions about un-installing Flash 9 and downloaded Flash 10.1, which is what they recommended for my computer.

I have a Power PC Mac running system 10.4.11. When I unziped the Flash 10.1 download It produced a Flash Player application but no installer and no info from Adobe as to what to do with it. Where should it be put? or is something missing?

The Adobe archive I downloaded had 19 different items to chose from. I mistakingly opened the one labeled:
flashplayer10_1r82_76_mac_sa.app.zip (This is a stand alone application for developers.)
This did not work so I tried this one:
flashplayer10_1r82_76_ub_mac.dmg (This opened the "Install Flash Player" which worked.)
If I had read the "READ ME" file bast the Adobe disclaimers I might have seen this.
    Thanks again.

  • When trying to cler all browsing history at the location bar, although I follow the instructions to 'ctrl, shift, delete, some web pages remain stuck. Even if I highlight them one at a time and hit delete, they remain. What can I do to eliminate them?

When trying to delete web pages from my history at the location bar drop-down area, I do as Firefox instructs by hitting the 'ctrl, shift, delete' keys but some web pages remain. Even if I highlight each page and hit delete, they remain. How can I eliminate these web pages?

If you visit a bookmarked site then that site will become a history item and shows as such in the location bar drop down list.

  • Can open some web pages but not all including bookmarked ones

safari acting strange - not allowing me to open all websites i usually vists just a random few. connection ok as i can send and get emails as usual... explorer behaving in the same way

    Greetings Kate,
Have you tried emptying the cache? Or second, resetting Safari, which will take out all your cookies and other caches. If this doesnt work, perhaps use OnyX (free from the Apple download site under your Apple menu) to repair permissions, and deep clean caches (users and kernel) and repair permissions.
    Let us know what happens..

  • When I print I get lines about 1 inch apart across the entire page?

When I print a photo lines come out about 1 inch across the entire page?

It is on the left side of video playback of any kind now.

  • Lines with pixelated corners..

Whenever I have an open application, there is always this weird border, it consists of about four thin black lines closely spaced on the sides, but in the corner, there are dots, about 1-2 pixels...
Also sometimes when the computer wakes up from sleep, directly under the menu bar there is a bar of lines, about one inch wide (horizontal)...
So is that border just a styling cue that I can turn off, and is that bar a problem, can I fix it? Should I contact Apple?
