  • I am setting up my new iPad mini and did not put in a password. The screen timed out and it's asking me for a pass code. I didn't set one up. Is there a standard passcode for new devices?

    No

  • HT4623 my new iPad mini retina will not set the time to Eastern time.

    It is set to Pacific time.  Tried turning it off for 20 minutes and back on.  No good.  Any ideas?

    Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased.

  • New ipad mini 2 will not sync music

    I just bought this and I am very disappointed with Apple having so many issues with this and not fixing this problem. While syncing either two things occur, the barber pole just keeps spinning and will not finish, or it stays stuck on applying changes. I have already tried many things like restoring ipad and all software, restoring just ipad to computer backup, signed out of itunes and rebooted it, checked and unchecked music syncing boxes.
    This is NUTS! I do not need my entire music library on my ipad!
    Any suggestions?

    More info: second ipad has same issues with not syncing with PC itunes, music bee, etc. Tried a different PC, loaded itunes and both ipads were able to sync. Consequently, appears my problem is with the PC and I can see why: I have recently installed a second hard drive on this PC,  loaded itunes and manually switch between booting either by manipulating the data connection within the cabinet. This has apparently corrupted the software perhaps "apple mobile device driver".  In any case, the problem has been solved by reloading and activating itunes on both drives.

  • New iPad mini with Keynote not showing all pictures.

    When I try to add a photo to my slides, it will not load all my albums. I have about six albums on the photo stream and my camera roll is empty. It will load one shared photo stream out of my six. The photo stream isn't even shared by me. I have turned iCloud pictures on and off, all that did was change the one album it showed. ex: before I turned iCloud Pictures off, the only shared album it would show was "My Dog" and after i turned off/on it only showed "Vacation" shared photo stream. I checked on the Pages App, same thing. My Pages app worked fine before the iOS 7 update. Any help or related issues?

    Update... I can't watch any streaming video either.

  • Sync mail accounts to new iPad Mini

    I just got a new iPad Mini, and going to set it up, didn't there used to be a way to sync all one's email accounts, when it was setup and plugged into iTunes?  I could have swore there was a check box, that you selected, and all your different email accounts one had, was transferred and added to your iOS device, but am not seeing it now... do I actually have to go in and manually add each and every email account?!  It does my iCloud email, which is fine, but that's it... there are my own domain email addresses, my gmail, my local ISP email account...
    Didn't that used to be in iTunes the way for those to be synced and added to one's device, without having to go in and do them all individually?  If that abilitiy is still there, where is it now?  If no longer the case now - what?  Are we to add them manually each and every one?!
    Please, someone say it's the former and not the latter.
    Thank you for your time and help you may provide.  All the best to you,
    JPH

    Hi, Demo...
    I actually discovered this awhile ago when trying to get my email accounts onto my iPhone, and ended up having to go in and manually add each and every email account into my phone, after seeing that the ability in iTunes to sync all one's email accounts was no longer there...  But, with the new iPad Mini now, was not wanting to have to go in and do it all again, and so was checking to see if I was just missing it, and apparently I am not, and it is no longer there to do so.
    When I set up my iPad, I even had it backup from my iPhone's latest backup, but it still did not add the email accounts... Like you, I have the latest version of everything... am going to go in and see what I can do... maybe backup my iPhone again, and then just do a restore of my iPad Mini to that latest iPhone backup... though I really don't want to do that as I spent a good portion after getting the iPad yesterday of setting my iPad up to how I wanted everything, to now go erase all that!
    Or, maybe I will just get ahold of Apple Support
    Thanks for your time, Demo, I appreciate it.  All the best to you,
    JPH

    You may have to do this several times.
    Saw this solution on another post about an iPad in a school environment. Might work on your iPad so you won't lose everything.

    ‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
    Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
    I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
    Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just cancelling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
    If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.
    Greetings,
    I've never seen this issue, and I handle many iPads, of all versions. WiFi issues are generally local to the WiFi router - they are not all of the same quality, range, immunity to interference, etc. You have distance, building construction, and the biggie - interference.
    At home, I use Apple routers, and have no issues with any of my WiFi enabled devices, computers, mobile devices, etc - even the lowly PeeCees. I have locations where I have Juniper Networks, as well as Aruba, and a few Netgears - all of them work as they should.
    The cheaper routers, Linksys, D-Link, Seimens home units, and many other no name devices have caused issues of various kinds, and even connectivity.
    I have no idea what Starbucks uses, but I always have a good connection, and I go there nearly every morning and get some work done, as well as play.
    You could try changing channels, 2.4 to 5 Gigs, changing locations of the router. I have had to do all of these at one time or another over the many years that I have been a Network Engineer.
    Good Luck - Cheers,
    M.
  • I purchased an iPad mini on October 10th.  I want to return it and get the new ipad mini retina when it comes out.  How do I do that if the new ipad mini release date isn't until "later in November", which is beyond the 14 days from my purchase date?
    I purchased an iPad mini on October 10th.  I want to return it and get the new ipad mini retina when it comes out. I am currently still within the 14 day return/exchange window but how can I exchange it if the new ipad mini release date isn't until "later in November", which would be beyond the 14 days from my purchase date?  If apple announces a new version of a product you just purchased but won't actually release it for more than 14 days, how can you possibly exchange the one you just bought?  Is my only option to return the one I bought on the 10th (so return by 10/24) and then not have an iPad until the new one is available for purchase?  Or would it make any sense to return the one I bought, get a new one, which would presumably have another 14 day return window, and then exchange THAT one for the new ipad mini w/ retina when it comes out (hopefully within that second 14 day window)?
    Call the apple store you got it from and ask them. Sometimes in the past they've extended the 'no questions asked return' but only Apple can tell you for sure.
  • New ipad mini retina: Safari crashes every time I hit the plus icon to open a second page
    Brand new iPad mini retina, safari crashes every time it try to open a second window
    Cleared and cleared then rebooted. Worked like a charm. Multiple windows open fine now, hardest part was navigating my way back here. Thanks dido ones... Bah auto correct diavonex.... Anyway, much appreciated. Just surprised it didn't work right straight out of the box,  but possibly a hiccup from starting this device from a backup of my iPhone.
    I have the new iPad and I could not use I tunes , every time I get an error says "cannot connect to itunes store " please help
    Sorry, yes iTunes on your computer.
    When I updated my iPad 3 and iPod Touch 4th generation to iOS 6 a few months back, I was able to update the iPad effortlessly over WiFi. but I kept getting error messages when trying to update the iPod over WiFi, so I used iTunes on my MacBook Pro.
    Connect the iPad to the computer, launch iTunes. Select the iPad under the devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update
    If you are using iTunes 11, go to View>Show Sidebar at the top - so the sidebar is visible.
  • Restore new iPad Mini from iPad 1 backup. Ican update new apps from Apple store but most of my apps have been showing the Waiting status for over 12 hours. Store shows them as installed. What gives?
    Restore new iPad Mini from iPad 1 backup. Ican update new apps from Apple store but most of my apps have been showing the Waiting status for over 12 hours. Store shows them as installed. What gives?
    If the downloads are stalled or "waiting" - try these suggestions.
    Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
    Make sure that you do not have a stalled download in iTunes - a song or podcast .... if you have a download in there that did not finish, complete that one first. Only one thing can download at a time on the iPad so that could be what is causing the problem.
    If that doesn't work - sign out of your account, restart the iPad and then sign in again.
    Settings>iTunes & App Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
    Go back to Settings>iTunes & App Store>Sign in and then try to update again. Tap one waiting icon only if necessary to start the download stream.
    You can also try deleting the waiting icons - tap and hold down on an icon until it wiggles - the tap the X on the icon to delete it. Then try to download again.
    You can try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your app preferences and device settings again.
    If all else fails, download the updates or the apps in iTunes on your computer and then sync the content to your iPad.
