  5. How to Recover Forgotten iPhone Restrictions Passcode | The iPhone and iPad Blog
     If you have forgotten your Restrictions code, then follow the instructions
     below but DO NOT restore any previous backup. If you do then you will
     simply be restoring the old Restrictions code you have forgotten. This
     same warning applies if you need to restore a clean system.
A Complete Guide to Restore or Recover Your iDevice (if You Forget Your Passcode)
If you need to restore your device or ff you cannot remember the passcode, then you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and re-sync the data from the device (or restore from a backup). If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present. Refer to Updating and restoring iPhone, iPad and iPod touch software.
Try restoring the iOS device if backing up and erasing all content and settings doesn't resolve the issue. Using iTunes to restore iOS devices is part of standard isolation troubleshooting. Restoring your device will delete all data and content, including songs, videos, contacts, photos, and calendar information, and will restore all settings to their factory condition.
Before restoring your iOS device, Apple recommends that you either sync with iTunes to transfer any purchases you have made, or back up new data (data acquired after your last sync). If you have movie rentals on the device, see iTunes Store movie rental usage rights in the United States before restoring.
Follow these steps to restore your device:
     1. Verify that you are using the latest version of iTunes before attempting to update.
     2. Connect your device to your computer.
     3. Select your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch when it appears in iTunes under Devices.
     4. Select the Summary tab.
     5. Select the Restore option.
     6. When prompted to back up your settings before restoring, select the
          Back Up option. If you have just backed up the device, it is not necessary
          to create another.
     7. Select the Restore option when iTunes prompts you (as long as you've backed up,
         you should not have to worry about restoring your iOS device).
     8. When the restore process has completed, the device restarts and displays the Apple
         logo while starting up:
           After a restore, the iOS device displays the "Connect to iTunes" screen. For updating
          to iOS 5 or later, follow the steps in the iOS Setup Assistant. For earlier versions of
          iOS, keep your device connected until the "Connect to iTunes" screen goes away or
          you see "iPhone is activated."
     9. The final step is to restore your device from a previous backup. If you do not have a
          backup to restore or have forgotten your restrictions passcode, then restore as New.
If you are restoring to fix a forgotten Restrictions Code or as a New device, then skip Step 9 and restore as New.

  • How do you reset you handset password, if you have forgotten it?

    Basically I wanted to get pictures from my blackberry to my computer, so I installed the blackberry desktop application to transfer your media from blackberry to PC. This went fine, so then I plugged my blackberry into my computer using the USB lead, when I did this a box came up asking for my password, I assumed this would be my handset password, however when I tried this it did not work.
    So I unplugged my blackberry, and then I tried to go on my blackberry, and it came up asking me to type 'blackberry' into a password box, which I did, and then it asked me for a password, which I typed in my handset password however this is not working
    How do I reset my handset password without being able to get onto my blackberry? I dont want to lose all of my photos etc.?
    PLEASE HELP !!

    Upon the last failure, the BB will wipe clean and be like a brand hew device. No password at all will be assigned to it, and you start over (starting, of course, with restoring from your most recent backup).
    I am not familiar with all of these "readings of other similar problems" you report. There are plenty of threads here where folks have forgotten their password and wind up wiping, but only rarely do I recall anyone discussing a situation close to yours.

    How do you reset a forgotten restriction password on an ipod touch

    They will be erased from the iPod along with everything else, but since those songs must have originated from a source other than the iPod, they must still exist on the computer you used to sync it.
    After you restore the iPod, you just have to sync it with that same computer again.

    Uness you have a backup that was made before you added the Restrictions passcode, you have to restore to factory defaults/new iPod.  If the backup contains the Restriction passcode, it will be restored.

  • How do you reset a forgotten passcode on an Airport Express?

    How do you reset a forgotten passcode on an Airport Express?  I cannot find where I saved the passcode and need to add a new non-Apple device to the network.  I'm guessing that I will have to reset it and setup the network again, but do I unplug the network cable before or after pushing the reset button?

    You can put the Express in "soft reset" mode by depressing its reset pushbutton momentarily - about one second.  This will lower its shields for two minutes, long enough for you to use AirPort Utility to reset its wireless network password. There is no need to disconnect any cables when you do this.
    Or, you can retrieve your existing wireless network password from a Mac you normally use on that network.
    Read the following to determine how to retrieve your password from Keychain:
    Your wireless network password is stored in your Mac's Keychain.
    You must first have an Administrator account on a Mac that you use with that AirPort Base Station, one that is used to connect to your AirPort network.
    On that Mac, open the Utilities folder. Find Keychain Access and launch it.
    In the search field at the upper right, type Airport. All the Keychain entries for your base station will appear there, as well as other entries.
    Look at the column "Kind". The entry you want to select will be labeled "AirPort network password" (not "AirPort base station password" or anything else).
    If you are trying to recover the AirPort Base Station password then the entry you want to select will be labeled "AirPort base station password"not "AirPort network password".
    Double-click that, and in the window that appears check the box for "Show password".
    You will get the following window:
    In the Password field type your Mac's Administrator password - the same one you used to log in to that Mac.
    Then, click Allow, and your wireless network password will appear in the "Show password" field:
    Make note of it.
    Close the window, then quit Keychain Access.

    ‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
    Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
    I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
    Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just cancelling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
    If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.
     Cheers, Tom
  • How can I reset my administrator password, without knowing the original administrator password?
    Hi guys,
    I use a MacBook Pro with OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion. A few months ago I reset my administrator password and have not been able to remember it since. Consequently, I haven’t been able to do any software updates, my computer is running slow and I'm getting a lot of pop-up junk on my screen. I’m the only user on my computer, apart from the Guest User (Sharing only).
  • I reset my forgotten password via email on my computer, but 2 hours later new passowrd doesn't work from iPhone  What am I missing?
    I reset my forgotten password via email on my computer.  Two hours later still cannot use new password on my iPhone 5 ios 7.x.x.  Am I missing something?
    Try going to https//appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Tap edit next to the primary email account, tap Edit, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPhone on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https//appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.
