TS3274 iPad email has no sound

I can't get my email notice volume to work

Hi Ladyatlake,
If you are having issues with email notification sounds on your iPad, you may want to make sure that Mail is active in Notifications and that a notification sound has been selected. The following article may be helpful:

  • IPad video has no sound

why when I am accessing the site www.sportlemon.tv (www.trombar.com) the video has no sound?

    Found the fix.
If the reboot doesn't fix it.
If the headphoens work find, but no external speakers.
If the double-click and page right to the software mute, doesn't show the sound knob - just the brightness
If your pop-up shows "Docking Station"
Then, the problem is very likely a dirty connector.  The iPad/iPhone/iPod connector uses a resistor value to determine if the device is connected to an external 'speaker'.  There are a range of resistances, for a range of products.  This is known as the Connector Pin 21 issue.
Take some windex on a que-tip, or perhaps a Windex paper scrub and rub it on the bottom connector port.  Somehow, "something" has gotten on those contacts, and it is pulling the voltage on pin #21 down - so that the iPad "thinks" it's connected to an external speaker - this will disable the internal speaker circuitry, as well as the internal speaker volume controls.
Do not over-saturate and short out your iPad.  Do not throw it in the sink, do not use the kitchen faucet to flush it out.  A Que-tip with a few drops of Windex (or other gentle cleaner) should work just fine.  Takes all of 30 seconds - and magically, the volume knob appeared and everything worked just fine.

  • My iPad 2 has no sounds or alerts.

my ipad 2 32 gig has no sounds.  Settings are set with various sounds and volume is 100%.  Can a one help?

Most likely you turned Mute or Do Not Disturb on. To turn off mute use the side switch or Control Center. To turn Do not Disturb off use the Control Center, look for the cresent moon.

  • IPad email has been hacked

My iPad email seems to have been hacked. I have searched for other cases where this has happened, but I only see items where the respondent has said that the iPad cannot be hacked... So I will explain why I think mine really has been hacked.
    - 2 days ago at 6.15 am when I was asleep and my iPad was safely locked up at home an email was sent via my yahoo email account.
    - the email was address to myself and 3 contacts I know.
    - I saw the email later in the day because, of course, it landed in my inbox (I actually saw it first on another device)
    - over the years I have seen plenty of spam and spoofed email, but this looked different
        - firstly, one of the addressee emails was actually wrong and I also had a bounce email to say that yahoo had failed to deliver the message
    - so my first thought was that someone had hacked my yahoo account and sent the email from there. I therefore changed the password, hoping this would put a stop to the problem
    - in retrospect I checked the sent items box online in my yahoo mail account. The offending message was indeed there, so no doubt that it had been sent via the account. At that point I thought it likely that the hack had been via the online email service and not from any of my devices.
    - however, still curious I started checking all my devices (all Apple: 2 macs, 2 iPhones and finally the iPad)
    - all the devices showed no suspicious sent item except my iPad which showed the rogue email in the sent items folder under my email account details
    So, the questions now are:
    - how did this happen?
    - how do I stop this happening again?
Ps. The rogue email contained a link to the following URL
    //ceramiccoatingsfl.com/www.cnbcnews.com.reportage24h.today.viewprofit37.php

Unless the iPad was out of your sight long enough for someone to send the email it was not hacked. Its just not physcally possible to hack an iPad and then remotely send the email.
What happened is that since your iPad is synced to your Yahoo mail, any activity on your account is mirrored on the iPad. so when the email was sent thorugh your Yahoo account, the sent mail is put in your Sent folder which is mirrored to your iPad.

  • IPad 2 has no sound unless I use headphones???

My iPad has no sound unless I use headphones. Any suggestions? I have checked all settings, etc.

Have you got notifications muted ? Only notifications (including games) get muted, so the iPod and Videos apps, and headphones, still get sound. Depending on what you've got Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to (mute or rotation lock), then you can mute notifications by the switch on the right hand side of the iPad, or via the taskbar : double-click the home button; slide from the left; and it's the icon; press home again to exit the taskbar. The function that isn't on the side switch is set via the taskbar instead : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4085

  • My new iPad mini has lost sound

I purchased an iPad mini a few weeks ago and the sound was working no problem. All of a sudden it has stopped in apps and music. Checked mute and done a reset but neither have worked?

    Hello Rach42,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with sound on your iPad.  I recommend the following steps for an issue like this (the steps refer to an iPhone but are also applicable to the iPad).  You can skip the steps you have already taken:
Verify that the volume is set to a level you would normally be able to hear.
Ensure that there is nothing plugged in to the headset jack or the dock connector.
If the iPhone is in a protective case, make sure that the speaker port isn't blocked by the case.
Make sure that the speaker and dock port aren't clogged with debris. If necessary, clean it with a clean, small, dry, soft-bristled brush. Carefully and gently brush away any debris.
If an audio issue occurs when using a specific application, try testing other applications to see if the issue persists.
If the iPhone is paired with a Bluetooth headset or car kit:
    Try turning off Bluetooth.
If you experience difficulties with the Bluetooth feature, followthese troubleshooting steps.
    Restart the iPhone.
If restarting doesn't fix the issue, ensure that your iPhone is updated to the latest version of iOS.
If the issue is not resolved after restoring the iPhone software, please contact Apple Support.

  • Ipad 2 has no sound, no bar, and side buttons don't work.

my sound cut out randomly yesterday and I suspected that it was on mute but it wasn't and nothing I try listening to/watching even has a volume control. It's like volume never existed in the first place.
I Reset the factory settings, had it off for 4 hours, and cleaned the ports....nothing.

    Try a device reset:
    Device Reset (won't affect settings/data/music/apps/etc)
    1. Press and hold (& continue to hold) BOTH the Sleep/Wake button & the Home button.
    2. Continue to hold BOTH (ignoring any other messages that may show) until you see the Apple logo on the screen.
    3. Release BOTH buttons when you see the Apple logo and allow the device to boot normally.

  • My ipad 2 has no sound

    My ipad2 has no sound

No sound with apps and no slider bar in the task bar. Ive powered off several times. Changed the lock rotation, etc. nothing fixes it.

  • IPad 3 has no sound

I have had my iPad almost a year and a half. I don't play sound everyday but as of yesterday my sound faded out.  I went to the settings screen under general and it's on the mute setting. On the side of the iPad the mute button is not on and the volume button is all the way up. I have blowed into the speaker area and the sound plays and goes away. What could this problem be and hopefully it's something I can solve.

Did you also try to reset the iPad by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again? You will not lose data by resetting, but it can cure some glitches after installing new software or apps.
If this does not work, set it up as new device, explained here:
How to back up your data and set up as a new device

  • HT201269 My iPad 2 has no sound and won't charge

I haven't been able too charge my iPad for quite some time now it takes weeks too get 18 % charge and sound is in and out mostly out...... Ever since I installed operating system 7what do I do? What happened ? Very upset

Have you tried cleaning the dock connector opening? If you have a soft brush - a toothbrush will work - try cleaning the opening. If there is any debris in there than can cause issues with sound. Some users say to use just a little bit of rubbing alcohol as well to clean the contacts.

  • My IPAD 2 has intermittent sound.  It cuts out while I'm listening to something. It may take hours to get audio again.  What is causing that?

Why is my IPAD2 experiencing intermiitent sound.  All updates are current. I have done complete shut downs and checked settings.  It quits in the middle of things.  If I turn it off for several hours, it comes back on.  System sounds work

I think that you mean that you cannot reset all settings or erase the device using the settings because of the fact that you don't remember the passcode. Unfortunately, you can't retrieve a restrictions passcode. You have to restore the iPad to factory settings to remove the passcode. However, that is something else that I suggested in my post above. And frankly, not knowing your restrictions passcode makes using the iPad such a pain be use you need to get into the settings from time to them.
You will have to restore completely as new and not use a backup. If you backup and restore the backup, you will be restoring the passcode that you cannot  remember.
Use iTunes to restore your iOS device to factory settings

  • My ipad 3 has no sound, i cant hear music, games, nothing

Can someone help me figure out why i can't hear sounds on my ipad 3

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Check your settings. The iPads have a small switch on the right edge. It can be used as a rotation lock to keep the screen from automatically reorienting itself as you move around, but you need to have the tablet’s settings configured properly. That same switch, right above the volume buttons, can also be set to function instead as a mute button to silence certain types of audio.
If the switch is set to work as a mute button, you can change its purpose to “screen-rotation lock” by tapping the Settings icon on the home screen. On the Settings screen, tap General on the left side, and on the right side of the screen flick down to “Use Side Switch to.” Tap to select Lock Rotation or Mute to set the button’s function. Even if you set the side switch for your preferred use, you can still mute the Mini or lock the screen. Just double-click the Home button, and when the panel of apps appears along the bottom edge of the screen, flick the row from left to right with your finger. Tap the icon on the far left side of the row to either lock the iPad’s screen or mute the iPad’s alerts, notifications and sound effects. Music, podcasts and video are not muted unless you turn the volume all the way down.

  • Ipad 2 has no sound from built-in speaker after one day.

I received by ipad 2 yesterday and I had sound out from the built-in speaker when using facetime and
    youtube.
When I turned on my ipad2 today, there are no sound from the built-in speaker. I checked the switch in
"settings" and it is set to "lock rotation" instead of "mute". So I am pretty sure my ipad2 is not
muted in the first place, using the volume locker and the volume icon shows "headphones" but
I do not have the headphones plugged in. However I got sound when I plugged in the headphones,
unplugged them and I got no sound from the built-in speakers again.
I have a 32G wifi+3G (The 3G is not enable yet) and the latest verion of iOS

    Hi,
You can reset your iPad by pressing and holding the On/Off/Wake/Sleep button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If it doesn't work, you can restore your iPad using iTunes by connecting it to your computer.

Amazing! I'm a dance instructor and am doing the exact same thing as you - and not seeing what I need on my iPad Air ... I can't believe there has been no reply on this! I also can't believe there isn't an easy way of seeing track info in the iPad or iPhone but I've spent hours searching and am not finding anything
