TS3274 ipad wont start up

Last night i was using my Ipad 2 and put it down for about 20 minutes.  When I came to turn it on again it wouldn't boot up.  I put it on charge for 24 hours but still nothing.  Is there anything I can do?
I have been unable to update to IoS5 as the option to upgrade doesn't come up under settings.  Can it be fixed?

try hard resetting it. hold down the home button at the bottom of the screen and sleep/wake button that you turn the device off with together for about 8 seconds. the apple should appear if there is not a hardware issue.

    My ipad won't start. I have been trying to charge it but it is dead. Chrager works.

    I'm in the same boat, only the reset doesn't help.  It was working fine prior to updating to the latest iOS update (7.1.1), although I did skip the 7.1 update.  Now the charge won't get past the red battery screen, no matter how long I leave it plugged in for.  And without the iPad being able to charge/hold a charge, there is no way for Apple to see what the issue is.
    And if this happens to you while you're out of warrenty (as it did for me by 2 months with this iPad3), then the only fix apple has for you is to take an additional $300 for a replacement.  Thanks but no Thanks.
    So now that I'm left with a brick thanks to an Apple software update that they refuse to take responsibility for, I'm wondering if this is the end, or if there are other options.

    Hi,
    i pulled my new iPad (gen 3) out of my bag and tried to start it but it wouldn't start.  I have charged it overnight via the supplied wall charger but it still wont start.  I have plugged it into a computer (not one loaded with itunes) and have been charging it via the computer for an hour but it still wont start.
    Can you please advise next steps?

    The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
    Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.

    At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. Saw this solution on another post about an iPad in a school environment. Might work on your iPad so you won't lose everything.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    ‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
    Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
    I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
    Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just cancelling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
    If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.

  • Ipad wont start up

    My Ipad has shut down i have tried to force start but i just get itunes lead picture on screen and when i connect it to pc it says restore, i dont want to is there another way to do this?

    Maybe you can try a hard reset by holding the HOME and ON/OFF buttons at the same time until the Apple logo shows up. But it sounds like you're going to have to restore.

  • Ipad wont start even after reset

    My Ipad fell down.  When I tried to reset using the combination button press, apple logo wont appear. How do I restore? I plugged to my PC laptop and run diagnostics, synch went well. However, it still wont startup and screen is still blank. Please assist.

    Try plugging the iPad into the wall adpater for about 10 minutes. If it doesn't startup after that, it'll need to be repaired.

  • Ipad wont start but connects to itunes

    My ipad just wont turn on (I've tried restarting, charging etc) but when I plug it in, itunes recognises it is there.
    help please!

    Hello ktbrt,
    Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
    If iTunes is recognizes your iPad when it is plugged in, then the iPad is powered on already.  This indicates that the display is having issues.  To troubleshoot this issue where you just see a black screen, please follow the directions below.
    If you see a solid color screen (black, white or blue)
    Plug in your device to a power source. If you see the low-battery screen when you plug in, let your device charge for at least 10 minutes (20 minutes for iPad) before using it.
    Reset your device while it's plugged in.
    If resetting doesn’t fix the issue, restore your device.
    If you still see the issue after you restore, contact Apple Support.

  • Ipad wont start

    my wife and I both have Ipad generation 1. For some reason when I restore my Ipad today, it completely wipe out everything (that's what I wanted) but now it won't connect to the Itune at all. I plugged in my wife's Ipad and everything is fine. Why Itune can't reconnize my ipad?

    Try a reset. Hold the Sleep and Home button down for about 10 seconds until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the red slider.
    If a reset doesn't work, force the iPad into Recovery Mode
    1. Turn off iPad
    2. Connect USB cable to computer only
    3. Press and hold the Home button down and connect the docking end of cable to iPad
    4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect To iTune" screen
    5. Release the Home button
    6. Open iTune
    7. You should see "iTunes has detected an iPad in recovery mode"
    8. Use iTune to restore iPad
    Note: You need to be patient and repeat the above many times.
