My iPad plays videos music but has no sound when I play a game. Went to menu on games and volume is on any ideas

If you lose sound for keyboard clicks, games or other apps, email and other notifications, system sounds have probably been muted.
System sounds can be muted and controlled in two different ways: either by the side switch (located next to the volume up/down controls) or in the Recent Apps tray. The initial default is via the side switch.
Check the status of Settings > General > Use Side Switch to:. If this is set to Mute, the switch on the side of the iPad will mute system sounds.
If this is set to Lock rotation then the mute system sounds control is in the Recent Apps tray. Double tap the home button and, in the tray which appears at the bottom, swipe all the way to the right. The speaker icon is on the left. Is it is crossed-out tap on it and mute will be turned off and system sounds will be turned ON.

Some apps won't play sound through iPad2 speakers

I've noticed since updating to iOS 5 and 5.0.1, I've got more apps that won't play sound through ipad2 speakers, but will play sound through earphones though. Using the same app on the iphone plays sound through the iphone speakers as normal.
It seems to be picky with which apps it does this to as Sky News/BBCiplayer/YouTube/Video/ IMDb all play sound through ipad speakers. Apps like FilmOn plus/ FreeAppMagic/ Falling Gems/ Bejeweled2/ FNS Shift2 will only play sound through earphones. These Apps updating to the new iOS doesn't fix the sound issue either.
I can use an app that plays sound through iPad speakers, then use an app that doesn't play sound through the speakers, then use another app that does play sound through speakers, so the earphone connection actuator doesn't look like the problem to me. Maybe some sound drivers may have been lost or deleted with new iOS updates over wifi...?
Any help would be appreciated.

See if perhaps this is the reason why some apps aren't playing sound.

Settings>General>Use Side Switch to: Mute System sounds. If this option is selected, the switch on the side of the iPad above the volume rocker will mute system sounds.
If you choose Lock Screen Rotation, then the switch locks the screen. If the screen is locked, you will see a lock icon in the upper right corner next to the battery indicator gauge.
If you have the side switch set to lock screen rotation then the system sound control is in the task bar. Double tap the home button and in the task bar at the bottom, swipe all the way to the right. The speaker icon is all the way to the left. Tap on it and system sounds will return.
If you have the side switch set to mute system sounds, then the screen lock rotation can be accessed via the task bar in the same manner as described above.

You can simply set your system preferences
Sound preference
output - to whatever your USB device/audio interface is
Your question seems a bit vague to me though. So can you actually inform us of what it is you are trying to do and give us examples with named kit.

Satellite C655 Won't Play Sound Anymore

My Toshiba Satellite C655 won't play sound through my built-in speakers.
The sound is turned up, it is not muted, and the internal speakers are the default. I can plug in my headphones and it will work, but it won't come through the speakers. This is the first time I've had this problem and I've had the laptop for about 5 months now.
Please help!

Please click with right mouse button on sound symbol in task bar and choose option layback devices.
Is option Speakers listed there?
Is it set to default device? If not define it as default device (right mouse button on it and choose option Set as default device.
Please check all this and send some feedback.

IPad won't play sound with video? Will play music and radio apps, but not if there is a video component. Same for my iTunes movies.

Help! My iPad won't play any audio when there is a video component to an app or game. It will play my music and I can see the video on my movies, but not the movie sound. Try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.

Hello, my name is Bryan.
I've got a problem with my iPhone 5s. I opened my iPhone to fix an issue with the home button (Watched a guide on youtube on how to achieve this), and I connected everything as it is supposed to go, my home button is working but now my screen won't turn on or the phone won't play any sounds. I know the phone it's on because I can connect it to the computer and the computer recognizes it. Also, I tried calling it, and it rings on the phone I am calling from, but my iPhone simply won't play any sounds...
I am also sure the phone is not in DFU mode.
Any help?

Won't play sound when on the internet

Just recently my HP 2000 Notebook PC will not play sound that comes from the internet. When i play music or DVD's on my computer I can hear them perfectly. The minute I get on the internet to watch a video or a movie or even video chat I can't hear any sound. I've tried resetting the computer to see if maybe that helped but it didn't. Also, when you go to the control panel to test the speakers they work fine. Also, when I plug in my headphones the sound won't play through those either. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Windows 7 on my iMac won't play sounds through headphones

On Windows 7, I can't make sounds play through my headphones plugged into the audio jack; the internal speakers always do it instead. The headphones don't appear in the "Playback devices" column, even though RealTek recognises that something's been plugged in/unplugged to it.
Also, the latest version of Boot Camp software drivers I burned to a DVD after upgrading to Lion (v.4.0) refuses to start; it keeps saying that 'Boot Camp x64 is unsupported on this computer model"; I was able to install the v.3.0 drivers by using "Troubleshoot compatability" within the Drivers/Apple/BootCampx64 before, but now it insists I use setup.exe- which refuses to install, even in compatability mode!
It's incredibly aggravating, since I always use my good headphones for gaming so I don't disturb my wife! Help!

So the Bootcamp 4.0 drivers won't work with my 2008 iMac? I'm running 3.3 then, and the problem persists.
I've just tried uninstalling the RealTek drivers; Windows seems to auto-install a "High Definition Audio Device" that DOES play sounds through the headphones... albeit incredibly quietly. Barely perceptible at full volume. I've tried to install the Cirrus drivers from the 4.0 Bootcamp disk; they claim to install correctly (in less than a second, which makes me skeptical), but they still don't appear.
It seems I can have Realtek and no headphones, or no Realtek and minimal sound...

My iPhone 4's ringer or alerts, texts emails videos on YouTube or iPod won't play sounds however when I get a call the sound is loud an clear. I know it's not a problem with the speakers. It once said that it was connected to a tv when connected to dock.

Recently my iPhone 4's sounds are going haywire. I have a Jensen radio iPod dock that I hooked it up to earlier on in the week(first time too) and when it played a song, my iPhone said that this video was being played on a television. Since then the ringer(at times) along with my texts, you tube videos and iPod on my iPhone won't play music through the speakers. However sometimes my ringer comes through. Same as alarms. When I try to adjust the volume settings it doesn't do anything. My speakers work fine. It's just getting it to recognize its not being played on a tv anymore that is annoying.
Does anyone have any clue what to do?

DaVBMan, thanks for that post. That clears up something for me. I think I have experienced that funny noise as well. It sounds like a Morse Code message. I have heard that same noise while at Church on it's PA speaker system. When I heard this, I figured the speakers were picking some radio frequency noise, but I couldn't understand what exactly it was. When I purchased my iPhone, I already had an old cable, stereo jack on one end and RCA plugs on the other. I noticed the same noise on my speakers. So, I am figuring if I replace the cable, I should be fine.

Why won't iMovie voiceover clips won't play sound!

I've been using iMovie '11 version 9.0.9, to make a school assignment. I started two days ago and it was allw orking perfectly fine, until today when some of the clips won't play. It started after I deleted a voiceover clip to replace it with a song from itunes. When I tried to add the song it showed that it was there but it played no sound. I managed to get that song working by dragging the song onto the whole project and then dragging and pinning it onto the parts I needed it.
After I got that working I tried to add new voiceover clips to the project but then there was no sund coming from that clip either! After about an hour of searching and fiddling I had just about given up when I played my project in the background and ran it through untill the end and I heard the last clip I added, that wasn't working before but now is.
At this point I recorded another clip to add thinking my problem was fixed, but alas that voicover clip played no sound. I thought I might try running through the entire project again to see if that would help like the last time. But no, that was not the case, in fact even more sound clips have stopped working.
I read in a lot of other threads that it might be a corrupt clip and it will have a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark in it (or a spinnign circle?), but none of the clips have this! Is there something I need to do to see the triangle, if that is the problem? Or is it something completely different?
Please help me I desperately need to get this working by tonight!

How do I fix? Flash videos like YouTube won't play sound on MAC OSX 10.5.8

Sound won't play on YouTube and other flash web based videos on my MAC OSX 10.5.8 So I installed the most recent version of Adobe Flash Player and it still doesn't work. I uninstalled and reinstalled adobe flash player. Nada. I updated my computer software and firmware. Still nothing. I checked my sound and apple movie trailers play just fine. Please assist.

Oh, I have tried to play videos in both Safari and Firefox. No sound in both.

Yay!!!! My business partner @goodbadtech (on twitter) fixed it. Apple repair fixed it. Just got it back this morning. Then I updated Adobe flash as Mozilla asked me to do and the sounds disappeared again! Was so frustrated. But Spencer found this link and that saved the day :-)

E-mailed Flip Book Won't Play Sound

My inDesign created flip book audio works fine in preview and when I open in browser or flash player from hard drive, but when I e-mail it as an attachment, using gmail and google Chrome, the sounds won't play. Any suggestions? Many thanks...

I dont think it´s possible. When you export SWF, indesign creates resources folder for all placed audio, video and SWF clips. Where ever you put that exported SWF you should put that resources folder as well. And you can´t put it into your email.
I suggest you upload your SWF (and resources folder) to some public server and send a link to URL instead of SWF.

HT4085 Apps won't play sound

I have tried resetting I pad and have tried deleting apps and ae starting them but for some reason some apps will still not play sound. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

Have you got notifications muted ? Only notifications (including games) get muted, so the Music and Videos apps, and headphones, still get sound.
Depending on what you've got Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to (mute or rotation lock), then you can mute notifications by the switch on the right hand side of the iPad, or via the taskbar : double-click the home button; slide from the left; and it's the icon far left; press home again to exit the taskbar. POGO GAMES WON'T PLAY

Certain games on Pogo.com won't play anymore. I was advised to update Firefox, but I can't find the tools menu. When I tried to find out about the 3.6.16 to see if that is the problem, they said not to do that. So, I really need to find out how to fix this problem since most of the games I play won't load anymore.

Mozilla are aware of the issue in Firefox 3.6.14 and are working on a fix, no timescale but they are planning on a quick release. Firefox 3.6.15 will fix the issue with some Java applets not working, which has caused many Pogo games to stop functioning.

Firefox won't play sound on youtube video's but sound works in other applications

i can play sound as usual on other applications such as media player, vlc, itunes etc... but firefox and internet explorer do not work, google chrome doesnt even work. i have re-downloaded flash player and the pluggins many times trying to fix it, cleaned out my pc with ccleaner, anti-virus checked and such. i just cant fix it. i have before but i forget how and it always happens again after a while, especially just after pulling out speakers or headphones from the jack.

Try clearing the Cache in Firefox.
Tools-> Clear Recent History -> [v] Cache
or
Tools->Options->Advanced->Network -> Offline storage -> [Clear Now]
Youtube may have made some changes recently. Clear the Youtube cookie and refresh page if above does not do it.
